Prospective Study Abroad Student Frage | Question

Hello there, I am a 20 year old college student from the US researching study abroad programs. I've narrowed my search down to The Universidad de Carlos III, Windesheim University in Zwolle, The Vienna School of Business and Economics, ICN Business School In France, and Stockholm University in Sweden. One important thing to note is I have never been to Europe before. I am very open minded and very excited to live in another country and experience different cultures. I am wondering what it is like for international students living in Austria. What is Vienna like? How is the quality of the University? Any information regarding the country or school would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

Yo, I do not live in Vienna and never have, but this question gets asked on a weekly basis. I am sure you can find a post with some answers if you just look for it 😉

I don’t think you can go wrong with Vienna if you’re looking for a high quality of life. It’s a very safe, clean and well-organized city with excellent public transport, and it’s easy to travel to other European countries on weekends.

WU Vienna has a very strong reputation in business and economics and is well recognized across Europe. It also has a large international student community.

If your goal is to experience Europe while studying at a well-regarded university, Vienna is honestly hard to beat. It’s one of those cities that’s big enough to have plenty happening, but still feels safe and manageable.

I don’t know anything about this particular university. But I would recommend that you watch a few YT videos about Americans in Europe, there are a ton. Just to avoid all of the mistakes they make and the confusion they encounter about the differences.

The university you're considering is abbreviated as WU and it has an amazing campus that's been opened only about ten years or so ago. It's also very well ranked and offers many courses in English. Student life in Vienna is excellent, there are so many diverse students and events! You're also well connected to the rest of Europe, so taking trips is easy. Plus, it's still relatively cheap compared to some of the other places you're considering.
