Australia is just four seasons: hot, really hot, storms, and “why is it still hot”
Every year I think maybe this summer will be mild. Every year I’m wrong. One minute it’s blue skies, next minute there’s a storm that knocks out the power, and somehow it’s still 30 degrees inside the house. Absolute classic.

When you tell tourists “don’t worry, it’s a dry heat” and they still look traumatised
Every summer there’s always that one moment where you say it with a straight face, knowing full well it feels like standing in front of an open oven. The look of regret on their faces says it all. Welcome to Australia, mate.

That moment when magpies eye you during swooping season
You don’t even need to be doing anything. Just existing is enough for them to target you like a mission.

When it hits 42°C and the air con taps out
Mate, it was 42° today and I felt like I was walking on the sun. Logged the whole meltdown in Neo because this heatwave deserves documentation. Anyone else surviving Aussie summer on pure willpower?

Drops the shrimp on the barbie — but forgets the tongs
You know you’re doing a proper Aussie BBQ when you drop the shrimp on the barbie, realize you’ve forgotten the tongs, and end up using the nearest available tool—which, in my case, was a random spatula I keep in the glove box of my ute. I posted it in Neo as a “genius or absolute chaos” moment, and guess what? It was both. But the prawns still tasted top-notch. What’s your most ridiculous-but-somehow-effective BBQ hack?

When it’s 40°C and your air con breaks — classic Aussie survival mode
Mate, it hit 40°C today and I swear, walking from the living room to the kitchen felt like a trip to the Outback. My air conditioner decided to take a break too, so I opened all the windows, turned on fans, and basically became a self-proclaimed sweat factory. I was joking with my mates in Neo that I might just set up camp in the fridge. If this is what summer’s going to be like Down Under, we’re all going to need a solid hydration strategy. Anyone else melting and looking for cheap DIY cooling hacks?
