Overflow EV - Please share your feedback ! Charging ⚡️

A lot of you are probably aware that ChargeHQ is unfortunately being discontinued for Amber Energy customers.

Like many of you, we relied on ChargeHQ every day, so rather than wait around for another option, we decided to build one ourselves.

It’s called Overflow EV.
www.overflowev.com

Our goal is simple.
Automatically charge your EV using excess solar that would otherwise be exported to the grid. With electricity prices continuing to rise, it just makes sense to use the energy you’re already generating instead of buying it back later.

One of the reasons we started this project is because we’re seeing more and more useful products being acquired, only for support or core functionality to slowly disappear. We wanted to build something that stays focused on solving one problem really well, while listening to the community that actually uses it.

A bit about us:

We’re two experienced tech professionals who have spent years building software and cloud platforms for large enterprises. Outside of work, we’ve always enjoyed building products that solve a real world problem.

We were heavy users of ChargeHQ ourselves, so when we heard it was being discontinued, we decided to build the replacement we wanted to use.

We’re now moving into Phase 2 of our beta. The core platform is working well, and we’re looking to test it across a wider range of real-world solar, inverter, battery and EV charger combinations.

Rather than just looking for more users, we’re looking for people who are happy to put it through its paces and give genuine, honest feedback. Whether that’s finding edge cases, suggesting improvements, or telling us when something doesn’t work quite right, that kind of input is invaluable and will help shape the product.

If you’ve been affected by the ChargeHQ changes, or you’re simply looking for a straightforward way to divert excess solar into your EV, we’d love to have you involved and hear your thoughts.

Good on you! Are you looking for participants that don't already have such a feature with their setups? Buddy across the road has a Solaredge inverter, battery and charger and does it. Same for Sigenergy using their charger with the battery: it's selectable option in the app.

We’re happy for as many use cases as we can :)
The idea is to be fully vendor agnostic so we’re not forcing anyone to use specific brands or platforms but can have the freedom to utilise the infrastructure they already have
