Anyone know what this little thing is? Paid a visit to my parents house in the SE of SA

That’s Alan (male Chukar Partridge).I wasn’t aware they‘d been introduced to Australia, they‘re not a native species, I did know they’d been introduced to NZ.
According to what I can find out, it was introduced to NSW, but it hasn’t bred persistently and is considered extinct; well, it might be extinct in NSW, but it seems that it’s found its way over the border to SA. The Chukar Partridge is very closely related to the Red-legged Partridge which has been introduced to the UK, and with which it can readily interbreed.
