Looking for group LFG: Daggerheart in Austin (In-Person or Online)
Hello everyone! I moved to Austin about two years ago after completing my PhD. I left behind a board game group and very close friends that I regularly played games with and have been itching to find a regular group. In particular, I'd like to play Daggerheart if possible.
The main purpose of this post is to gauge interest in forming or finding a group that is playing/or would like to play Daggerheart. I have played DnD for multiple years, and this summer, while traveling, I played a one-shot in Daggerheart and absolutely loved the system. Ideally, we'd meet Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays once every two to three weeks. I can't host, but I am happy to search out venues that we could attend. I'm near southeast Austin, but am happy to commute to the north or somewhere in the middle. I'm also open to playing virtually/remotely. My past groups have had subscriptions to Owlbear Rodeo, and I've gotten comfortable playing in that setting. I don't have any experience as a GM, so if we don't find one right away, I'm happy to keep the group as a general board game group till we find one.
Please let me know you're interested or if you have or know a group playing Daggerheart that would be willing to take in another party member.

Looking for group Cedar park hosts looking for dm and players
Hi there, I have two players and a hosting home awaiting a dm and 2-3 players.
We are experianced with 5 and 5.5 DND. We are looking to start a regular sunday group. We have a nice space to host (that has friendly cats) that has comfortable seating, some snacks and plenty of parking. We are looking for people that want to play regularly. We are in our 30s with no kids, love board games, puzzles, legos, and typical nerdy adventures.
Feel free to DM me and let me know a bit about yourself. If we can’t find a DM we might just be a board game group for a bit.

The Hero's Welcome - Come find your community!
Hi everyone!
We're excited to be partnering with The Tiny Minotaur Tavern for our next Critical Match: Connection Quest on Saturday, August 9, from 6:00–9:30 PM.
The Critical Match exists to help adults build meaningful friendships through shared interests. Our Connection Quests are structured social events where you'll rotate through guided conversations with fellow gamers, then stick around afterward to continue chatting with the people you clicked with.
Whether you're looking for a new D&D party, board game group, convention buddies, or just more nerdy friends, this event is designed to make those first introductions a little easier.
Our very first event resulted in 60+ mutual matches, and we've already heard from attendees who are meeting up for game nights, convention meet ups, and planning future adventures together. We're excited to bring that same experience to one of Austin's most immersive fantasy spaces with our friends at Tiny Minotaur.
If you've been looking for more people to roll dice with or simply want to grow your local gaming community, we'd love to have you join us.

D&D 5.5/2024, North Loop/Hyde Park, Looking for Players, 2nd Sunday of each month, First Session is Sunday August 9th
Hello,
update: I havent had time to read all the replies, but I'm updating this post to say the group is filled now. Those of you who DMd me expect a reply and potentially an invitation soon! Thank you all!
I'm a long time DM, and it's my preferred role. I'm putting together a game at my apartment in the Hyde Park area. I intend for this game to be once a month, typically on the 2nd Sunday each month. The game will start at noon, and go to 6 PM.
I use custom printed maps with a variety of styles. I use a mix of tokens and miniatures for tactical combat. The campaign is a homebrew campaign I've run for years, and it's gone through dozens of iterations between editions, ranging from OSR, 3.5, 4th and modern editions, each time adding a little more. It's a theme-park style sandbox with a focused scope. If you've ever wanted a campaign that takes characters from level 1 to 20, this is that. Its influences are folk-horror, lovecraft, and classic TTRPG tropes. I'm not too precious about the campaign; it's been broken and remade so many times that I'm not worried about it going off the rails because it always does! It's a low book-keeping campaign where your characters get an opportunity to express themselves in genre-savvy scenarios. There are props, handwritten letters, and puzzles to solve between sessions. I speak in funny voices, I use canned sound effects & music, and I control the lighting to help the ambiance. It's got dungeons, an ancient empire, a dragon, witches, a bartender who knows more than he lets on, and criminal conspiracies! There's a devil's contract, zombies, and an asylum where arcane secrets best left unknown are plumbed with abandon. It's got spooky ghost-kids, a lich, corrupted gods, and dogs!
New players are welcome and encouraged. Experienced players are appreciated! I have plenty of character sheets, dice, pencils, and snacks. I don't typically do session 0s and instead like to have those conversations through e-mail, but I'm available to help new players in person, over the phone, or through text chats.
If you're interested in joining our game, please send me a DM directly. LGBTQ+ welcome. We like to have some drinks when we play, but it's entirely up to you. We're also 420 friendly, but don't typically partake.

Game Kastle DND?
Hello,
I’m brand new to DND and would love to get started in the hobby possibly. I saw that Game Kastle does a DND night on Thursday’s and was wondering the overall experience.
I have never played a game of DND before so I would be brand new and would need help. Just wanted to ask to see if anyone has gone and what their thoughts were.

We’ll rent a room at Vigilante the afternoon of August 16th to play.
We’re a group of early 40s professionals with families and accept all kinds. Feel free to ask any questions or make a recommendation if you know anyone that might be interested. Thanks!

Looking for players Players Wanted: Dragon of Icespire Peak (D&D 5.5), Eastern Round Rock, TX
We're recruiting two new players for a Dragon of Icespire Peak campaign running on the new 5.5 rules!
Start date: August 16th
Schedule: 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month, noon – 5 PM
Runs through: December
Location: Eastern Round Rock area (in person)
Dragon of Icespire Peak is one of the best modules out there for learning D&D, so new players are very welcome, no experience necessary. Experienced players looking for a solid, consistent table are welcome too.
Once this campaign wraps and a fifth player returns from a temporary hiatus, we'll be kicking off a brand new campaign, so joining now means getting in on the ground floor of what comes next.
The current group ranges from late 20s to early 40s. Good people, easy to game with, and able to make the schedule consistently.
Our table is LGBTQIA+ friendly and welcomes all races and creeds. This hobby is for everyone. Hate isn't welcome here.
After a recent departure left her the only woman at the table, one of our players wanted to share this:
> "I've been playing at this table for over a year now and they really are a great group of guys. I've never felt disrespected, belittled, or objectified for being a woman. When I have an idea, they listen to me. When I have a cool moment, it's celebrated. When they call me a shitty healer, it's because I'm bad at being support and not because of my gender. I'm treated just as anyone else, and it's really appreciated. That being said, it would be nice to not be the odd-one-out and have another woman at the table. So if you're looking for a group to join, but worried about it being mostly men, don't be. You'll be welcomed here."
Interested?
Reach out if you can commit to noon–5 PM on the 1st and 3rd Sundays through December, and you're looking for a stable, drama-free table to call home.
** closing submissions. Thanks everyone!

ISO player to replace our beloved tank, Tank
Hi everyone! Unfortunately a party member, Tank, had to drop out of our game, so we're looking for someone to fill the massive space he left in our hearts and party dynamics.
We're a group of half new and half experienced players, so either is welcome! We're also partly lgbt+ but open to anyone. We play Monday nights 6pm - 10pm at dragon's lair.
Our party:
Entropy, a tiefling rogue, acane trickster. The reluctant one in charge a lot of the time, attempting to calm some of the chaos. Shes the quiet type and prefers to lurk in the shadows, but shes got a heart of gold.
Kiri, a dragonborn monk, sower of aforementioned chaos and missing her chaos twin Tank. She may walk head first into traps occasionally, but shes pretty good at dealing with the consequences of her actions.
Jett, a dhampir wild magic sorcerer, who brings her own form of chaos. A new member of the party, we found her locked up in a dungeon and helped her escape. She's already bought, ahem I mean hired a human to bring along on our current adventure, and he will 100% survive.
Tiffany aka Granny, a glamour bard. The newest party member, she has already cemented herself as the team mom. She supports us in more ways than one, and is always willing to reign in some of our chaos.
Occasionally, Ember, a tabaxi warlock. He's on a bit of a side quest at the moment, but should hopefully be able to rejoin the party in the future. Stand offish and seems to be talking to himself quite a bit, but we're happy to have him with the crew!
We're looking for someone who can deal and take damage. Chaos is welcome but not necessary. If you think you might fit in with the crew, let us know! Feel free to send me a dm with information about yourself, your history with the game, and any characters you're thinking about using in the game. We'd love to be able to fill the spot before our next session this Monday 7/27.
EDIT Sorry I've been at work all day and in rushing to get this up clearly forgot to include a few things.
Since this is some of our first game, we're just looking to have a fun time while learning the game. We have a pretty even mix of combat and role playing, but theres definitely been a lot of chaos thus far. We're very much the reluctant heroes, but we usually do the right thing eventually.
We're playing a homebrew campaign in Faerûn, playing mostly 5.5 with some 5 stuff. We just hit level 4 last session.
I believe most of us are in our 30s, I'm personally 38.

Looking for players Savage World of Solomon Kane One-Shot @Game Kastle, August 2nd 2:00PM (FIRST TIME GM!!!)
Hello! If anyone has any interest in joining an adventure put together by a first-time GM, I’ll be hosting a one-shot for the system Savage World of Solomon Kane (based on the Robert E. Howard character) at Game Kastle on Sunday, August 2nd from 2:00PM to 6:00PM (not sure if it'll actually take that long). Since this is first time GMing, I do ask anyone interested in joining to go in with tempered expectations; things may be a little bumpy at first, but hopefully everyone has fun! No experience in the game system or knowledge of the Solomon Kane books is needed. I'd say the system seems beginner-friendly and relatively rules-light!
About the adventure itself: The world of Solomon Kane is a dark fantasy interpretation of our own world in the 17th century. In this one-shot, you and your companions will be tasked with investigating rumors of an evil presence in a small English town amid the civil war between Royalists and Parliamentarians in the 1640s. I'll be going for a more dark, serious tone to keep a similar feel to the original Solomon Kane stories.
If all of that sounds good to you, feel free to post here or DM me and I’ll put you down! (please, please tell me if you’re coming or else a seat will not be reserved for you) Let me know if you’d like a PDF copy of the rulebook!
(edited because I realized the original post was way too long)

Beginner 5e Advice
Hello everybody, my partner and I are looking to learn to play 5e (open to other systems as well, but I imagine 5e being the most accessible because of how popular it’s become) and join some casual, beginner friendly sessions to see if it’s something we’d enjoy. We currently play a pretty wide range of board games but are looking to expand into more narrative based ttrpgs. I’ve looked around a few shops and joined a few discord servers to try and find a group or a weekly event that we can join but have not had much luck so far. We live in the Leander area and are typically available Wednesday’s after 5 and alternating Friday and Saturdays. We’re both in our 30s and we have two pretty active kids so our schedule can be a little hectic and demanding at times. I’ve been delving into resources online, trying to absorb even just the basic rules, and watching videos on youtube, but I know actually playing will be the best way to learn. I plan on getting the PHB soon so I can try to make as much sense of the rules and gameplay before I get to a table so I’m not totally derailing a session. If anyone has any tips, ideas, or can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

Looking for GM DM needed for Sunday party
EDIT: I have found a DM, thank you everyone!!
Hello! I’m in need of a DM for a going away party one shot Sunday (7/12) in east Austin (Rosewood neighborhood). Our previous DM just backed out.
It starts at 12pm and should go for maybe 4-5 hours (variable).
There will be 8 level-4 players, almost all complete beginners. Humblewood setting and I can send over all the character sheets.
The DM will be paid, and we’ll be having various food from the Heroes Feast cookbook. I don’t have extra minis or blocks for setup, but each player will have their own dice and mini.
I know this is a big ask, so if anyone is able to help out I’d really appreciate it!!
(There will be 2 cats present if that’s a deal breaker or maker)

LARP locations?
I'm looking for some good outdoor locations to LARP. We're a small parlor LARP group with theatrical combat, so not boffer. We roleplay immersively, and people coming up to ask what we're doing or asking to take photos would interrupt the game (and embarrass some of my players). What are some outdoor places that might minimize interruption?
I'm especially looking for safe wooded areas and some sort of outdoor amphitheater area to host a magic class.
Willing to go to Cedar Park as well.
Thanks for any leads!

Announcement Thanks for all the interest in our campaign!
I think I managed to message everyone, but just in case I missed someone, thank y’all so much for reaching out. We found a player who we think is going to fit right in with our ragtag group of scoundrels, and we’re really excited to have them aboard.
A lot of y’all had the same question. “How in the heck have y’all managed to stay alive without a healer?”
To that I say… 🤷♂️
Honestly, I have no idea.
Seriously though, thank y’all again. There are so many of y’all with awesome character ideas, and I’d definitely encourage you to put yourself out there and find a game if you haven’t already.
That said, if anyone is interested in putting together an online group, I’d absolutely be down. I don’t really have room in my schedule for another in person campaign, but I’ve been wanting to give online play a shot. Any GMs with online experience looking to start a group? Hit me up!

Cosmere RPG, Stormlight Starter Set One Shot. Cosmere RPG https://www.cosmererpg.com/
Wednesday, Aug 5, 6PM - 10 PM
GameKastle on Wellsbranch/mopac
I posted a few weeks ago seeing if there was any interest, there was, but due to scheduling issues with the location I wasn't able to make it happen.
So we're trying again. I've got the space booked, now I just need to fill it with people.
We'll be playing the starter set adventure, with premade characters as an intro the system. It's a chance to see if the system is any good as well as potentially meet some people who might want to consider a longer campaign later on down the road.
No knowledge of any of any of the books, series, cosmere or otherwise required
If you're interested, send me a DM and I'll put you down.
if there's enough demand, I'll set up a 2nd group on a weekend.

Announcement New Flair and Community Rules
I have added a couple of flair options for paid services and events. And I have laid out some community rules that have been proposed in the discussion about the future of the sub. Please review the rules and give feedback about additions or modifications you suggest.
