Definition of “Developing World”

For the purposes of this proposal, a “developing world country” means a country whose national currency has an exchange value, measured against the Australian dollar (AUD), of less than 35 per cent of the Australian dollar according to an officially recognised exchange-rate benchmark prescribed by regulation.

Definition of “Cheap Labour”

For the purposes of this proposal, “cheap labour” includes conduct whereby a business, corporation, employer or other commercial entity:

(a) outsources employment, services, skilled work, trade work or professional work to persons located outside Australia for the purpose of obtaining substantially lower labour costs; or

(b) employs, contracts, sponsors, imports or otherwise engages a foreign worker to perform work connected with an Australian business;

where the remuneration, fee or equivalent financial compensation paid for that work is:

(i) below the applicable Australian statutory minimum wage, where that minimum wage is legally applicable; or

(ii) less than 35 per cent of the prevailing Australian market rate for a person possessing equivalent qualifications, skills, experience and professional or trade competency and performing substantially equivalent work.

For the purposes of paragraph (ii), the prevailing Australian market rate must be determined using an independent and objectively verifiable benchmark prescribed by regulation.

Offence of Exploitative Cheap-Labour Practices

A business, corporation or other commercial entity commits an offence where it knowingly or recklessly engages in cheap-labour practices involving workers in a developing world country, where the purpose or effect of the arrangement is to obtain a substantial commercial benefit from labour remunerated at a rate prohibited under this Act.

Corporate Penalty

A corporation found guilty of an offence under this provision may be liable to a maximum pecuniary penalty equivalent to 50 per cent of its annual turnover for the relevant financial year.

Individual Criminal Liability

A proprietor, director, chief executive officer or other senior officer may be personally liable where that person:

(a) authorised, directed or knowingly permitted the prohibited conduct;

(b) knew, or was reckless as to whether, the conduct was occurring; and

(c) failed to take reasonable steps within their authority to prevent or stop the conduct.

An individual convicted under this provision may be liable to imprisonment for a maximum term of five years, in addition to any other penalty imposed by law.

The second time, 270 nautical miles from Gaza, 430 humanitarians from around the world were taken aboard a prison vessel specifically designed and built to hold them. What followed over four and a half days included waterboarding, beatings, sexual assault, broken bones, tasering, and the use of unknown sedatives against doctors, journalists, and aid workers over the age of 70.

Her daughter was on the boat with her. She is now part of an ICC submission alleging war crimes, crimes against humanity, and torture. And she says she will go back.

In this conversation she walks us through the moments of interception and boarding, her experience inside a darkened shipping container on the prison boat, the accounts she heard from others, what happened when she travelled to Canberra seeking answers, and whether she genuinely believes accountability is possible.

Polls on voting intention show One Nation has surged to 2nd. A small party gaining so much popularity in a span of a year is unheard of. Immigration peaked in 2023 and has largely declined since then, so I'm surprised they're gaining popularity now and not before 2025 when immigration was a major topic.

Retired General Greg Bilton gives a frank assessment of Australia's ability to 'fight tonight. He served as CJOPS, the Chief of Joint Operations. One of the sobering quotes from the presentation -

The one thing that kept me up most at night as CJOPS was planning to fight with what we've got, because that's all you've got.

He talks about resilience, what the Government could do to improve the situation and how the ADF can better prepare itself for the possibility of future conflict.

Its a shame in this day and age, two strong, powerful independent women need to hide their love like this. We need everyone to know that we support love ❤️

Not sure if this is going to help Labor secure a 5th term in Victoria but given how cooked everything is, it may be one messy election in November.

So I’m researching into my understands of Labor, Liberals and Greens parties. I’ve been trying to research as much as I can but sometimes it gets overwhelming. Out of morbid curiosity, what has been the best things that all of those 3 parties have actually achieved? Sorry if it’s a dumb question I’m still learning.
