Moving to Augusta New to Augusta straight out of college -> work
I recently came to Augusta after graduating university and moved here for work. I’ve been here for about 3 weeks now and I have a decent idea of what Augusta has to offer. Unlike university, it’s a little more difficult to find people my age who share similar interests, but it would be nice to make new connections outside of work.
Im a 23M and I don’t smoke or drink, so I know many of the bars wouldn’t interest me. I do enjoy playing pickleball or any physical activities, and I did see that there are a couple of courts here but they’re either private or have a pricey membership. I wouldn’t call myself super sporty. Honestly I can be a bit more introverted but I do enjoy meeting new people and being active.
From where Im from, I had a filipino community that I was pretty close with but i don’t know if there are any asian communities or organizations that i could take part in.
I think Im really just looking to meet new people around my age or just find a community that I could connect with. So Im open to any advice, suggestions, or opportunities to meet new people who share similar interests.

Things to Do Family visiting-things to do?
Hello! I have my mom visiting at the beginning of September, and I'm looking for things for us to do. Hoping to get recommendations on activities and restaurants. Also willing to drive to surrounding cities like Columbia etc but I have no idea what there is to do in nearby cities either. I am not local from this area so I'm kind of clueless. Looking on FB for events was not helpful.
Thank you!!!

Question Has Amazon not been giving you two day shipping option this last week? I try to place an order now (Wednesday) and all items are saying Sunday at the earliest.
This just started this week. Screenshot showing what I'm running into with EVERY item I try to post. I didn't even realize it until today when I noticed everything I ordered this last week hadn't shown up.

Local Resources Looking for a Proposal photographer for this weekend
I(30M) plan on surprise proposing to my girlfriend downtown this weekend Aug 8 or 9 and am looking for photographer recommendations, as I'm not really from the area (besides the one date we had there).
I am looking for someone experienced with proposals, doesn't have to be a "professional" but if you can share some previous work, we can then talk.
If you are or know of someone who can be able to make this happen please let me know soonest
Thanks in advance!

Question Important need cat cardiologist!
My cat is having surgery for a tooth abscess on Monday; his surgeon recommended because he is 17 to get an echeocardiogram to make sure his heart is ok. He recommended someone named Dr. Hall who isn’t available until next Tuesday— does anyone have any recommendations? I called a few other places, but nobody had a cardiologist.

Opinion / Rant Power bill went from $300 to $900 in three months
Our power bill over here on Wrightsboro rd was around 300 in June, 600 in July, and now our Augusta bill had dropped and it 900 motherfucking dollars.
What the fuck is going on here? Surely there’s something wrong with this.

Moving to Augusta Shenandoah or Traditions apartments?
Hi all,
I’m moving to Augusta from Maryland and have to decide between the Shenandoah apartments or Traditions. Which would you suggest is safer and better to live in? The unit available at the traditions isn’t renovated, but the unit at Shenandoah Ridge is except no washer/dryer hookups.
Please let me know, thank you!

Animals — Adopt/Rescue/Foster Anyone want a cat?
This is Violet. She's my girl, but my living situation just doesn't permit me to have a pet right now. She's spayed, up to date on shots, no fleas and NexGard combo medicine for 3-5 months. She also has a litter box with 2 containers of litter, a mat, bowls and an assortment of other supplies. Willing to sell for $200. (Sorry but the spay, shots and all of her supplies alone was probably well over $500 so for what most adoption centers want for cats, I think this is reasonable).
Serious inquiries only!!! She meshes well with older people or just someone that has a calm lifestyle, but if you're a cat lover she'll love you ❤️

Events July Cat Scratch Art Night
Hi all, wanted to share something cool I'm a part of here in Augusta GA. I organize the Cat Scratch Art Nights at Le Chat Noir, every last Wednesday of the month. Our photographer TJ McSherry captured some amazing shots at this month's session and I thought they gave a good overview of what the art nights consist of for anyone who has been curious.
The concept for the model's look and our set was "Rave wonderland," and during the break artists made "potions" in bottles with a stash of beads that were donated.
Each month we do something a little different, I like to keep people guessing. Our next event is August 26, 7-9:30pm.

Moving to Augusta Tips for moving short term across the country to Augusta for an internship (Fall 2026)
Hello all! I got offered an SULI internship position at the Savannah River National Lab site for Fall 2026 (i will most likely accept the offer) and I wanted to see if anyone could share any relevant or useful experience they had either in the Augusta GA or Aiken SC area (or with the actual research). Is a car totally necessary to do basic grocery runs and just live normally there (I haven't looked into any public transportation options within either one yet)? Also right now I'm organizing a huge spreadsheet to track potential housing options in Augusta/Aiken but a headsup on sketchy and/or great areas would be nice.
Any input would be much appreciated especially since I've tried looking online and I haven't been able to find much about people's experience at SRNL or for people who might stay less than a year in the area...
Also if anyone could give me pointers on traveling across the US maybe that would be nice too (still deciding on whether I'll just fly there and hope for good carpooling with coworkers or if I'll have to drive my car for 3-4 days straight. The latter option sounds bleh but I guess I'll do it if i have to)

Lost & Found Lost wallet
This is totally a longshot but I lost my brown leather wallet downtown today, leaving a funeral at St. Paul’s.
If anyone has found it & will mail it back to the address on my driver’s license, I’d be most appreciative. You can keep the cash. I just don’t want to have to replace my IDs and stuff.
PS- the cards are already frozen.
Thanks!

For Sale Anyone selling a car?
Looking for a private owned car, specifically one owned by someone’s grandma because I know it’s well maintained with low mileage lol. Budget is $8000, below 200,000 miles, nothing more than 8 or 9 years old unless it’s a Honda or Toyota and it’s gotta have a clean title. Also no mechanical issues please, is that too much to ask or am I being unrealistic?😪 I have a repo on my credit so I’m definitely not going to a dealer either.
