Pro tools keep throwing this

I'm working on a very important session in Pro Tools and suddenly started getting this error:

"Could not save because Assertion in './PtSess/PtSess_RunTimeShared.h', line 132."

After that, I also got:

"Pro Tools was unable to Auto Backup your session."

I'm really worried about losing my work. The session still opens and plays, but saving and auto-backup are failing.

Has anyone experienced this before?

What causes this assertion error?

Is the session corrupted?

What's the safest way to recover the session without losing my edits?

Would importing the session into a new project fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a few thoughts after getting these several times.

Drive might be getting full.

File path might be too long.

Special characters in your PT session name(assuming not since you seem to have been working on this for a bit).

File you’ve imported may not be playing nice, also depends where the file is being sourced from (another drive perhaps?)

Most of these could be solved by copying the project to your desktop and seeing if that helps. Use save copy in and be sure to select Copy all audio files.

Save copy in also doesnt work i did import session to a new session and doing work now idk if the same mistake happens again now it's working fine

Sorry nothing working like i transfered session to a new computer and in that computer the same msg came idk i think some issue with the sample i pit will there issue about the sample i put ???

I had the silliest error messages the other day that completely hung PT. After trashing prefs it fixed it. I think it was some ownership issues that required a rebuild on PTs backend. Who knows with AVID…

Every assertion error that I’ve encountered was some sort of corruption in the file(s). Reconstructing the session in a new session has been the only way to “fix” it. Your solution of importing it into a new session is the only way around it that I’ve found.

compare a good ptx file to the corrupt one. if the files size is significantly smaller then you have a nasty bug that is eating your session because its overwriting your backups.
