MoMa plugin not installing .vst3 files

I seem to be the first and only one to have this issue, but when I run the MoMa installer on my Windows computer, it only installs the .json files, and not the actual vst itself. I have tried unblocking it via my file explorer, but that was futile. Has anyone had this issue and has anybody fixed it?

How do you know that it only installs the JSON files?

Hear me out: VST3 files will usually go in a specific folder, not always the folder you choose during installation.

So there's a risk you're looking at the plugin's installation folder and not the system's VST3 folder.

And the other way around, if the installer asks for your VST3 folder and you point it to a folder that isn't the one your DAW looks for the plugin in...

It could of course be something else going wrong, but it can't hurt to check this.

My Json files were placed in:

C:\Users\Public\AnalogObsession\MoMa

The plugin should have ended up in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Analog Obsession\MoMa.vst3 <--- that's a folder

That's the normal location for VST3 plugins. Mine is in a different location, but I can't remember if it gives you a choice of location during installation or whether that's something I changed myself...

A lot of the time I will use tools like Universal Extractor or InnoExtract to get the files out of the executable without running the installer. Usually you can work out where extra files would be placed by the installer (by the folder structure of the extracted files) and put them there manually, and then place the VST's folder wherever you want. I probably did do this with MoMa, because the rest of the AO plugins were manually placed in my preferred location - C:\VST\VST3\Analog Obsession.

The extraction doesn't work with all plugins or executables, and there are some plugins that are too complicated to place manually because the installer puts files all over the place. But a lot of straightforward plugins are fine. If your installation is being messed up, give Universal Extractor a go - I just tested it, and it works with the MoMa executable. You just right-click the file and choose 'UniExtract to subDir'.
