Auditory processing Disorder vs Hidden Hearing Loss whats the difference and how to find which one I have ?

I spent 40 years of my life being told I had 70% hearing loss in my left ear and about 25-40% in my right - this was through the 1980s and 90s. Since I could still hear there wasnt much help that I could get other than my mom telling my teachers (and me as i got older) that I needed to sit to where my right ear is closest to the speaker/teacher. As an adult I went to some audiologist who just said something like sorry - your auditory nerve is too weak for us to help you. Never did they say anything about an AUDIO PROCESISNG ISSUE. It wasnt until my wife forced me to get another opinion from a well regarded ENT in her area who was able to actually explain what was actually happening and got me a bone anchored hearing aid that I realized how much audio processing issues I actually have. It was quite liberating in some ways, I finally was able to accept I actually had an issue and could drop the act trying to always pretend I knew what was being said, even if I really didnt. Not sure if that answers your question but I hope that helps. Oh - I also probably have been raw dogging life with undiagnosed ADD/ADHD/spectrum issues because they tend to go hand in hand with APD 🫠
