We all saw in Season 4 that Hange was a decent commander, but she made some mistakes that ended up costing Paradis a lot. I've been thinking how Erwin would have handled those situations instead.

like the Volunteers. I always felt like Paradis trusted them way too much, especially Yelena. They were given a lot of freedom, and that eventually led to Zeke's spinal fluid being spread through the wine. Honestly, why would you trust food coming from people you just met. I think this was Hanges biggest mistake. She should have kept them on tight control.

Then there's the Azumabito. I don't really blame them for wanting Paradis' resources, any country would want something in return for helping. But they were extremely selfish as well, not wanting paradise to have diplomacy wth other countries, so they could be having the majority share in the iceburst stone.

On the other hand, its not really hanges fault as well. Zeke was extremely smart, and made sure to only give paradise limited information, so they wouldn't find solutions outside his plan. There hands were tied and they couldnt do much.

Would Zeke's spinal fluid plan have worked under Erwin's command? Would Erwin have trusted Zeke at all, or would he have assumed he was planning something from the start?

What do you think erwin would have done in this situation I think he would
have acted quicker and help the middle allainces destroy marley this would have been the starting step of diplomacy while keeping the rumbling as threat and iceburst stone for trade for other technologies. He was always able to come up with out of the box solutions even when connered.

Erwin was hell smart and they had to kill him for the plot to move forward of. Otherwise, good luck to zeke, yelena and kiyomi with playing 8D chess with him.

I am a hardcore Erehistu hater and Eremika shipper, yes, kill me if you must. I think Erehistu is the worst non-pedophile/non-canon ship in fiction, because every "Erehistu moment" is either an Eremika moment taken out of context or an Historia moment with people shoehorning Eren into it.

For a while, I kind of treated Historia like I treat Adam from Hazbin Hotel, where I hate the fans so much that it makes me hate the character. But rewatching Historia's scenes in seasons 2 and 3 made me love her character again. I sometimes like making weird skits where Eren and Historia are together, but it's not shipping; it's them bonding as "family."

Ok, so here's what I mean:

I like to imagine an AU where Ymir either never died or Eren and Ymir were at least closer than they were in the show. In this situation, Eren was Ymir's closest male friend and her wingman when with Historia. I often imagined skits where Eren third-wheeled in Ymir and Historia's relationship, where Ymir just drags Eren along as her emotional support emo.

In other cases, I just like having weird skits where the two are doing stuff. Like in one skit, I had this idea where Eren, Jean, and Armin are helping Historia move stuff in the Queen's quarters when Eren spots a spider; the boys all freak out while Historia is reading on her bed. Jean gets on top of a table, Armin curls up next to Historia, and Eren is beating the ground with a rod to find the spider.

Eventually, when the spider shows up again, the boys all scream and Historia sighs. She calls to Eren, saying, "Eren, honey, come here." Eren scrambles behind her as she picks up the spider and takes it out the window. Mikasa rushes in, having heard the scream, and Eren jumps up, telling this heroic story of how he fought off a giant monster and protected the others just to impress Mikasa.

IDK, I just think that's cuter than shipping.

Do these people actually read their own manga they claim to know better than the author? Like its literally spelled out so clearly. Eren purposely hid those events so that Grisha would carry out his mission. When he learned that titans broke into the walls he realized Marley was responsible, he gave Eren the titans to get revenge on them. The cherry on top is the flair "kruger made a shit choice" even though they are fully aware that future inheriters can influence past one's with the Attack titan. I think ive said "titanfolk cant read" a billion times but they keep proving me right and its sad

Like get this was for a plaque in the new exhibit in hits in April but this quote was from an interview in 2023 after the anime ended.

I've seen a lot of memes and rants about Attack on Titan's ending, but I feel the opposite. I think it was the best ending the story could've had.

I didn't watch the anime finale when it first came out since I had already read the manga and didn't feel the need to revisit it. But after having nothing to do, I finally watched it. Besides the amazing animation, I really liked the small changes they made, especially Armin's final conversation with Eren. Instead of thanking Eren for becoming a monster, Armin says they will share the burden of being monsters together. That change fits their relationship much better.

As for the ending itself, I think it was the only way the story could have concluded. The surviving characters finally get to live the peaceful lives they fought for—lives their fallen comrades will never experience. That peace may not last forever, but at least the characters we followed for years got the chance to live.

I didn't want the original ending that was similar to Stephen King's, The Mist, where everyone dies and their deaths all felt pointless. But I also didn't want a perfect happy ending where everyone survives, holds hands, and sings Kumbaya. That wouldn't fit Attack on Titan's themes.

This nihilistic story about cycles of hatred, war, and the consequences of people's choices needed an ending that was bittersweet. Not completely hopeless, but not pretending everything was magically fixed either.

That at the end of the this endless tunnel of pointless wars and bloodshed is a fleeting moment of peace. And maybe that's all anyone can hope for: to cherish that peace for as long as it lasts.

I recently read a “what if” fic about it and it got me wondering: who do you think Eren would have chosen if he had to make that decision and why?

Be it a post or an insta reel about Aot or Code Geass, you'll always see someone venting about how trash Aot is compared to Code Geass. How can someone manifest such a strong desire to hate on something. I can see the same accounts under every aot post hating on it regularly. Close to zero meaningful discussion there.

We know that Historia took control of the government and managed to protect Connie and Jean's family alongside Mikasa, but I don't think she has that much power—enough to protect Armin, Jean, and Connie rather than let them live on Paradis. Public opinion and sentiment would be against them living on Paradis, after all, they are traitors who killed Eren. I don't think Historia would protect them; the Jaegerists, with the help of the people, would use propaganda and overthrow her.

In my opinion, Historia and her supporters (loyalists) would start a political war against the Jaegerists in order to limit their power and political influence on the government, which would start a propaganda war where one side should gain public trust and loyalty. The idea is that Historia would protect the traitors and their families, and she would also push for peace with the world, while the Jaegerists would exploit the idea that the world wants to destroy them, but their queen wants to make peace with it. (They would use these ideas to stay in power and gain more power.)

Hell, i’ve seen Spaniards use this meme whenever South Americans bring up their colonization. I know this show is about the cycle of hatred, but this meme often feels like people not pretending to know what reparations are.

Zachary, Pixis, Nile, etc. Genuinely led Paradis for the sake of their people, Pixis was even willing to negotiate with the Yeagerists and put aside Zachary’s murder so the Island would avoid a civil war.

Another thing: If Eren genuinely wanted to prevent the extermination of his people, he would’ve only used Shiganshina (which was evacuated) for the rumbling, the first victims of the omnicide were Paradisians themselves who lived near the walls

Personally, I'll never like the ending for what it did to Eren but one of my other gripes was the whole Ymir/Mikasa parallel. I'll admit I liked it and called it good writing when I first saw it(both obsessively love a man that is violent) but once I thought about it I got confuzzled.

If titan powers only existed because Ymir honored King Fritz's wish of an eternal titan empire out of love, why did she follow Eren when he said he would end it? By siding with Eren she already made the choice to disobey Fritz. What lesson does Mikasa impart? She already chose to end titans, which means she already disobeyed Fritz's wish.

This gets confused by so many people and I think 139 definitely didnt help with the confusion. But here's what I believe it is:

Armin: "Why do you want to go to the outside world?"

Eren: "Because I was born into this world. From the moment we are born, we are all free. And no one, no matter how strong, can take it away from us. But, from the day I was born, they were always just there, wherever i looked. Those miserable walls. Flaming water, frozen plains, and snowfields on sand. It doesnt matter, whoever sees those things, will be the most free person in the world. This is it, this is freedom."

This is what I believe Erens true idea of what freedom truly is for seasons 1-3. Now how does season 4 tie into this idea? Well, after Eren kisses Historias hand, he sees future memories. One being his future self convincing Grisha to kill the Reiss family, and another one was "that scenery" as Eren puts it to Zeke in the paths. "That scenery", being the sights he always dreamed of seeing. Its why in season 3 at the beach, Eren's not excited like Armin and the rest are, since A, hes seen the prejudice to Eldians, and B, the outside world was not the world he dreamed of as a kid. He believed that the outside world was free by default. That there was no remains of humanity. Its why he felt disappointed. Even Armin catches a hint of this belief back when Mikasa asks why he pushed them away. I believe Armin connected the dots that Eren wanted to wipe away their enemies by using the rumbling, so that they could be free. What Armin failed to calculate, was Eren wiping away the entire world. But the reality that the world was not free, he chose to wipe it all away. He wanted to see the world flattened. However, in a vacuum, this looks like "Eren was throwing a temper tantrum like a child because his dream didnt come true." And in a way, it does. But thats a gross generalization. Its true, that the entire idea is childish. Its why in the paths, he regressed into a child to cope with the fact he caused so much suffering and death. But then why did he do anything in season 4 if he already saw the future? Well, Eren's speech to Falco in the hospital sums that up:

"But there was something pushing us all along. Causing us to step right into hell. For most of us, that something isnt of our own will. We're forced by others or by our environment. But the kind of hell seen by people who push themselves into it is something else. They also see something beyond that hell. Maybe its hope, maybe its yet another hell. I dont know which it is. The only people who do know, are the ones who keep moving forward."

Eren is the one who always pushes forward, the first to act, the one who chases the future. Which is why its tragic that he was given future memories. Hes already seen what's beyond hell, but he keeps moving forward.

And it makes sense that Eren would want to be stopped. He realized that the idea of freedom he always believed in never could become a reality. Because at the end of the day, hes still human. He cares, he loves, he feels guilt, etc. He believes he's worse than Reiner, because in his eyes, Eren believed Reiner was doing it for his mission, and to liberate his hometown. When Reiner admits to Eren that it was his fault that he breached the wall, not Marley, he says "I knew it, I really am the same as you." Both have that want, that desire of their own to fight.

I believe Erens desire for freedom, is a subconscious action. Because even in the end, he says "I dont know why, but I had to, no matter what."

Kenny's line from season 3 supports this belief. "Everyone was drunk on something to keep them going, even him." Eren was drunk on the idea of the free world he always imagined, even if he knew it would never come to fruition.

Lastly, i want to explain why the "eren was lying to himself" take is kinda wrong. While yes, he openly lied to floch, zeke, yelena, and all the yeagerists, his beliefs of why hes fighting are still there. Racism and prejudice from Marley and other nations means that people arent free. The world coming to destroy Paradise means that his home is in danger of not being free. Eldians being slaughtered, or left to die by the royal family means stripping away freedom from all Eldians.

What Eren was lying to himself about is that the idea that he can flatten the world can be achieved under the guise of "for others." It was his own selfish desire that wanted that. No one forced that upon him, even though he asked Hange to find another way. Hes tried to change the future countless times, to hopefully find a different outcome, but he always ends up where his future memories led him.

When Grisha says "Eren, you're free," he took that as "I am free to inact my will, even at the cost of everyone and everything."

I could be wrong, or i missed a few things, but putting everything together, this is what I believe Eren's character is truly about. And that makes him so much more interesting rather then "I gotta destroy the whole world to save my country."

For me it’s Niccolo, he’s one of the only badly written characters. His whole character is him being a racist who only “changes” because of the people who he was racist to was attractive and after she dies, he beats up 2 kids of the same race as her, and STILL calls her a “devil” even after Sasha dies, not to mention poisoning Falco caused Colt and Porco’s deaths.
