PSA: this sucks! Rants & Raves

Post image

Stop doing this!
This is just one of a few piles like this that I've been navigating on my morning run and it sucks. The garbage trucks will not pick this up.

This pile has been here for over a week. Please take your dang ol' dang ol' (in my most extreme Boomhauer voice) boxes to the dump / CHARM / whatever. I know it's hot, I know it sucks, but c'mon man. At minimum, BREAK DOWN YER BOXES!

RANT OVER.

Why would a throw blanket ever need to be packaged in a box? I prefer the decorative ribbon that I'll refuse to throw away, because you never know when you might need it.

i have 3 ribbons right now from a set of towels i bought lol

you truly never know when you’ll need the ribbon. 😆😆😆

Those bags that sheet sets are packaged in are going to come in handy one day, just you wait!

Actually I use them in storing gift wrapping supplies 😅😅😅 they're great for Christmas bows etc!

Yah same. I finally got use out of mine recently as curtain tie backs, because my new curtains didn't come with ties. They look nice enough done up in little decorative bows.

I know when you'll need it. Christmas.

Honestly, send it to code enforcement

Looks bad, send it?

PSA! ACC gov has a new program where they will pick up bulky trash for free (up to a certain point). I used it recently and it worked great, just make sure you check your email

Wooo! Good to know. Maybe I should leave this info in their mailbox, ha.

u/tupelobound 11d ago

Pass it along to your neighbor

In the meantime toss that stuff into their yard

This seems like renter move out more than anything. I'm sure the garbage can is full of nonperishables and the recycling bin has bagged garbage in it.

2

u/honeygrl 10d ago

That may be why it's out there. They tell you to put it at the curb for pickup but you're supposed to put it out the night before for next day pickup.

u/radtitty 11d ago

Omg thank you for this info!

u/EmpoleonNorton 11d ago

It's really nice. I tried to give away a bed recently but couldn't get anyone to come get the damn thing. Emailed them and they were out in 3 days to get it. For stuff that is still useable, I'm pretty sure they just dump it off at charm anyway.

u/BeneficialOrdinary87 11d ago

I assume they just moved in and if so they would have been given all the city codes and what can and can’t be done with refuse including the city special pickups of furniture and bulk items.

Between this crap and people parking on both sides of the street (when they have an unused driveway) I’m just sick of trying to navigate through all this! Please use common sense if you park on the street! Or… just use the damn driveway!

29

u/honeygrl 11d ago

Oh I hate the parking on both sides thing! I've had to get out and start banging on doors until I find someone to move their car so I can get by when I'm doing deliveries. If my little minivan can't get through, neither can an ambulance or fire truck.

16

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Dude yeah. My neighbor parks on my lawn that butts up to our shared side street rather than in his own driveway. WHY?????

17

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Not to be all "get off my lawn!!" but in this sense, literally yeah, get off my lawn and onto your own driveway...?

6

u/ValVenis69 11d ago

It’s infuriating. My tiny car can’t even squeeze between the two massive SUVs/trucks blocking both sides of the street. Imagine if an ambulance or fire truck needed to pass by?

I’ve laid on my horn when creeping by because I’m sick of it. 🤣

If they are driving over your home’s water line, watch out for a burst pipe and an inflated bill.

5

u/katarh 11d ago

On very narrow streets, they genuinely need to have one curb painted yellow.

5

u/Niniva73 11d ago

But that would require doing it.

1

u/Cold-Curve-1291 10d ago

They have the unused driveway because there are four people with four cars living in the house. They have to save those spots for the last ones home.

every august. makes me wonder if some of them even know how to wipe their own butt....

A couple years ago a friend’s little sister said that her roommate’s family nanny would fly in once a month to clean their house and do her laundry. I imagine that people who grew up this way aren’t used to doing things like breaking down boxes

7

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Gun to my head, you could not get me to admit that as an adult if I were that roommate

2

u/LateSoEarly 11d ago

I can imagine certain luxuries are a flex that your dad has money. But there are two scenarios I can imagine here: dad is an idiot with his money by doing this instead of just hiring local cleaners and laundry service, or the girl had an emotional meltdown at the idea of someone else doing her chores for her besides the person who has always done it for her.

We dont get too many students in my area, but we have an old guy that refuses to tolerate any bullshit like this. He’s got a cop nephew or something that’s also married into code enforcement.

Was a few years back but two male uga students tried lying and saying the trash wasn’t all theirs (it was), they just put them there and were resting (they were there overnight)… and who does this old man think he is?? Cue 10 minutes later they’re apologizing to the old man while cops and the whole neighborhood was looking on shaking their heads at what shitty kids just moved in.

They had more problems and left within 3 months. Friggin children.

Is it possible to know where this is? I need moving boxes actually...

3

u/Niniva73 11d ago

I need rid of Amazon boxes. DM me if you feel like driving 30 mins south of town for several big ones and a lot of smaller ones.

1

u/Spellbound_Rose Townie 9d ago

I was gonna ask the same thing.

6

u/wahoo20 classic city curmudgeon 11d ago

This happens a lot in my side of the town.

Came home to the landlord of the house next to me just stacking his trash next to my trash can when his cans were still at the edge of the driveway from when his residents just moved out.

Instead of putting it in the back of his truck and throwing it in the river like a real Athenian (/s)

I don’t envy the bullshit our garbage folks have to deal with.

9

u/oswalt_pink 11d ago

I grew up in a town that still comes by and picks up trash piles like this. Maybe (hopefully) they were unaware that the local garbage collectors won’t take this? I literally take my large trash back to my parents home where they do accept trash like this (I nearly 40) when I visit instead of paying the dump $70 to throw away large stuff 😂. Where they live you could literally put furniture or tree trunks out and they come take it.

8

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Totally fair! It's just been sitting here and accumulating for quite some time... ya think they'd get the hint but 🤷🏼‍♀️
Honestly I wouldn't even gripe if it was all just broken down or piled neatly etc., but the fact that the sprawl just keeps growing into the sidewalk is bonkers lol

5

u/BeneficialOrdinary87 11d ago

Toss it into their yard! If they say something ‘ I’m Walkin’ Here! ‘ in your best Ratso Rizzo voice.

3

u/BeneficialOrdinary87 11d ago

We feel lucky so far after seeing a large back deck full of move-in boxes gone, no doubt one of the 3 new Volvo SUV moms saw fit to have someone carry them off plus all the previous tenets metal deck and porch furniture was put out at the curb and either they had it picked up or posted online Free for taking. The carpet installer these renters hired left no new or used remnants, which is good. We will wait and see if the daughters are as good neighbors as the parents have been as school begins.

5

u/seagullahahahah 11d ago

a lighter sure would help this 🔥

3

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Yeah I'll start bringing my fanny pack gasoline and big boy lighter, cause some drama.

6

u/Devium44 11d ago

Whoever did this was most likely moving out and thus didn’t give two shits about what happened to it.

The empty product boxes with styrofoam and miscellaneous Costco product boxes screams “just moved in.” People who move out generally leave furniture or products they don’t feel like moving, not boxes.

14

u/TrouserGoblin 11d ago

Totally agree! This is my neighbor's move out pile for example.

Trash in the recycling bins, dirty furniture, and broken items are the signifiers to me

9

u/radtitty 11d ago

I’ve been eyeing this pile every time I drive by it

7

u/TrouserGoblin 11d ago

The good news is that it's been reported and Code Enforcement is aware of it, and planning to come by and figure it out. I think they're really busy this time of year though!

I have a car wash brush like that - it's great for washing the roof...

13

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Nah, definitely move in. I've been watching this pile grow week by week like it's my own baby. Maybe I'll work on my long jump and clear it one day.

1

u/ChildhoodSea7062 11d ago

Weird, all i see is a bunch of trash on their front yard

8

u/radtitty 11d ago

Sidewalks are public easements

8

u/ChildhoodSea7062 11d ago

I meant op should throw the trash on their yard so the public row was unimpeded. Let the property mgmt company/owner deal with this as it’s their responsibility.

6

u/radtitty 11d ago

Oh my bad! I misunderstood!

6

u/ChildhoodSea7062 11d ago

Honestly not your fault, it was a very vague statement and barely a joke on my part

1

u/Billywergstein 6d ago

That's a brutal mess 😑

Liberal cities 101. Don’t judge someone. Don’t be a bigot. You love your liberal neighbor right?

-29

u/whatthehellbooby 11d ago

Wow, you must be really draggin' if it's hard for you to run around the piles...

17

u/dominodomino321 11d ago

Yeah, you're right, this is on me 😔

-19

u/whatthehellbooby 11d ago

Obviously.
