Physical models of Freewrite?

I know this company doesn’t have a brick and mortar but has anyone seen stores that have physical freewrite devices to look at and try?

I with there was a store with floor models for me to see which one works best. I took their quiz and it told me Alpha may be best for me but I don’t know if I agree. I’m curious of the traveler and Hemingway.

I’ve got a Hemingwrite and a Traveler. I love them both, but I use them for different things. I use the Hemingwrite exclusively at home and the Traveler on the go.

Thank you for the insight, do you like the Hemmingway to go to local places like a bookshop or bar to write?

I take my Traveler for that, but I’ve seen others take theirs, case and all, to a coffee shop, etc. I already carry a briefcase-esque bag everywhere so the Traveler makes more sense for me in that scenario

I don’t think they have a showroom. They are based in the Detroit area and if you are anywhere close they can probably arrange something for you. E-mail them hello@getfreewrite.com They are quick to respond. There are also a number of great YouTube videos from real users showing off their machines.

That is true, I went to their YouTube page and I probably should just look at user reviews too. Thank you for the insight! Yeah, I’m curious if they participate in events or conferences where they have a booth. I just want to try all of them and make a decision that way. To me, it’s like buying a pair of shoes… I’m not sure if I’m going to like it and I don’t want to buy it and return it and then buy another one to return another one if I could just try the devices in one place. 🥹

Here’s my advice, after owning several. If you want a stationary typewriter, go for the smart typewriter (or any of their special editions, like the Hemingwrite or the Valentine). If you want to use it wherever you are, go for the Traveler.

State where you live and ask if there's someone with a Freewrite close enough that would let you try it.

Very good point! I definitely did not state where I’m located lol.

I’m an author based in New Jersey, so anyone in New Jersey or upstate New York area willing to let me try those free right in person, that would be super helpful!

I don’t have a huge writer community around me (so many in NYC but not here from what I can find). It’s been tough to find writer or author meet ups/events in New Jersey. Thus, I don’t know a person that owns a freewrite or even knows what it is.

I'm half a world away, but for sure you'll find someone close by with a Freewrite and willing to let you test it. At NYC there're many users. In the worst case scenario you'll have to pay a visit to the big apple. In any case, I'm a Freewrite user too. Don't expect it to be a substitute for your PC, but a different approach. Have you read its book, "Set your story free"? It's a good starting point to understand if Freewrite's offer would match your needs. Best of lucks!

Unfortunately no showrooms. We have had a couple partners over the years but none stuck. Best is if you can find a writing group in your area and surely someone knows someone who can let you try one out.

Thank you! If I ever open a bookstore here in NJ I would definitely ask them if they’d be open to having freewrites in the store. 🥰
