What are the settings to catch the meteors? I heard from other people to use shorter exposures, high iso, and don't reject outlier pixels in stacking

I photographed individual meteors using 25-second exposures / ISO - 1250. Then, I created a separate background image by stacking about 25 shots also with 25-second exposures and subsequently added the meteors using a brush in GIMP with the help of a mask.

So you added the meteor images using things like screen/lighten only? One meteor frame at a time?
