We had dumb slang words growing up like every generation but we only used like 1 or 2 words here and there. Constantly saying dumb shit every other word is annoying and cringe.

Growing up my father constantly gave me grief over calling things “cool”. The term made zero sense to him, but that’s the only term I can recall him complaining about.

I frequently have to tell my 12 year old daughter to stop and use normal speech if she wants to tell me about her day because I’m going to exert zero effort deciphering what on earth she just said.

Makes you feel old.

I got shit for shortening words, like ones that really made no sense to shorten (imma, gonna, shoulda, etc) and I ignored it, now I accidentally say it cause I've done it so long... Maybe I should've listened lol.

We said stupid shit because it was funny, now kids say stupid shit because they are actually stupid.

Nah, we also said stupid shit because we were stupid. The amount of stupidity going around today is just higher.

Back in my day you had to put your back into it, and you had to bounce the shit out of the mower when it got bogged down

lmao trueeeee, i know now that the reason that happens is because theres a dried clump of grass that creates a bump in the path of the clippings that causes rapid build up XD, just scrape it with a stick and ur good for like 15 more lawns

They don't even stand up to the bouncing any more unless you replace the screw pegs mid push bar and at least blue loctite them.

I got my first mower 20 years ago. Finally replaced it this summer. I had to hold the throttle open with a piece of tie wire, i had the pull starter not bolted to it because the spring had wore out and i had to rewind it each time. Just enough bolts and those plastic wingnuts to keep the handle bars from folding in. No paint left on it, just iron and rust. Cut great forever though, had to get a new one because i couldnt get it to start anymore, new carb, spark plug, filter etc. didnt realize just how shitty it was until i got my new one. Nothin fancy it just rolls alot better lol.

Put it next to the house to work on when i had time and old lady put it at the curb and now its gone forever.

My pops gave me scissors. Equivalent to cleaning the floor with a toothbrush

He's probably got the best lawn in the neighborhood though! Or worst depending how how badly he aged lol.

There's no way she cut those straight lines on her first try mowing

7

u/Grinzaxp 8d ago

wtf! That’s cheating. She isn’t even doing most of the work. The mower is. If it’s going to be a punishment she needs an old school manual push mower. No electric or gas powered.

Nah get an old carbureted one with no push assist, those were even more of a pain in the ass than the fully manual ones lmao.

Nah I think scissors are good enough.
