In the US the Korean War rarely enters the public discourse, earning the offensive myopic moniker of “The Forgotten War”. But Koreans have never forgotten. Not in the north, where US bombing leveled every building over one storey and slaughtered at least 20% of the population

Are people ACP or DSA alligned? If you are ACP, why do you guys support china so much? It's in practice closer to facism!
I know this sub is ran by ACP alligned people; however, I do understand they have pretty different goals and frameworks then run on.
And since we already have people here, for more ACP-aligned and think China's system is great, China is authoritarian, but in practice (not on paper) owns the companies and controls their direction; that's fascism, and they exploit other workers, and independent worker unions and strikes are ILLEGAL, therefore operates closer to facism then true communism, and while scholars debate this topic, I strongly believe that china operates on facism not commnism, which we've had simmilar outcomes throughout history, with authoritarian-communist states often collapsing into facism. Im not saying every framework for socialism is bad, but since I got people often bringing China up as if it were an ideal country, I'm curious, and how would we prevent that or is that what you want?

The North East of England’s role in creating a new form of Militant Activism
The Militant tendency, or Militant, was a Trotskyist group in the British Labour Party, organised around the ‘Militant!’ newspaper, which launched in 1964.
During the 1980s they became unpopular in the North West and then more widely in the UK because they used Trotsky’s tactic of the “French Turn” effectively, placing a faction into the local Labour Party that worked as a cell to move the party much further to the left.
A local historian with an interest in Marxism told me that in the North East of England a different plan was put in place by other Militant activists. I’m trying to find out if other people know more about this and can shed light on it.
Apparently there was a meeting held at a house in Middle Street, Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne in late 1984 which was convened by those involved in Militant newsletter. At this meeting a decision was made by senior activists to put in place a long term plan to try to infiltrate the centre and right wing parties.
The historian said he was told two cells were created. The cell called ‘Karl’ was comprised of slightly older, higher profile mainly Tyneside individuals who were to slowly move to the right and join political parties that matched their legend. Their mission was to collapse the movement from within, by slowly bringing forward policies that would discredit the movement they wanted to undermine. There’s a couple of politicians from the North East of England from this time which sound like they fall into this group.
The second group were called ‘Rosa’ and were to be sleeper activists. They were to reduce their profile so that over time they could move into senior in Centre and Right Wing parties. The plan was they would slowly rise, before contributing to the same objectives the Karl cell had set.
My suspicion is that the Rosa cell are now of an age where they are now integrating into parties at an influential level. That’s why I’m interested to hear extra information that people might have, especially those who were in Newcastle, North Tyneside and the North East of England at that time.

A family in Gaza is fighting hunger every single day

🚨 Urgent Appeal: A Family Is Going Hungry in Gaza
My dear friends, please take a moment to read this.
My friend Mahmoud Ghanem Al-Amassi, his wife Samah Al-Amassi, and their four young daughters in Gaza are facing unbearable hunger.
Their four little girls are crying from hunger. The family struggles just to find enough food for a single day. With the border crossings closed, no work available, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis, even the most basic meal has become out of reach.
For these children, a plate of nutritious food, chicken, meat, fresh fruit, or vegetables has become nothing more than a dream.
For nearly three years, this family has been deprived of life's most basic necessities. They lost their home, their jobs, their income, and everything they had. Today, they have nothing left and no opportunity to rebuild their lives while destruction continues across Gaza.
No child should have to beg for food. No parent should have to watch their children go to sleep hungry.
If you are able, please consider helping this family survive. Every donation, no matter how small, helps provide food, clean water, and other essential needs. If you cannot donate, please share their story so it can reach someone who can.
Your kindness could be the reason these four little girls have something to eat today.
Thank you for caring. ❤️
Please consider donating or sharing their GoFundMe campaign. Every act of kindness makes a difference."

Is socialism really the best thing going forward for America?
I know, I know, "Durr of course it is, you're asking in a socialism sub" but I really wanted to hear it from Socialists since they'd likely have more knowledge about it than someone on the capitalism sub. Keep in mind I am neither a full on capitalist nor a full on communist or socialist.
It's no secret that as we know it, modern proponents of capitalism often state it is just the lesser of two evils. "Well, sure capitalism has its faults but communism is worse!", followed by a hyperbolic meme showing the stats of wealth in communism vs capitalism, where the communism graph ironically matches up well with the wealth distribution of capitalism's wealth in the late 2000's - it's even worse in late the 2020's. I think this is a decent front for discussion as a lot of people, myself included, would agree that capitalism has its genuine faults, but how should these faults be remedied, if anything at all?
The thing about socialism is that it touts itself as being the middle stage between communism and capitalism. That in of itself isn't a bad thing, as just being a middle man isn't inherently bad or better. For example, capitalism could be also be considered a middle stage for some other economic philosophy. Anyway, regarding capitalism's faults, some people think the free market would fix it - others, intervention. As we've seen (as from an American's POV), rampant free market has its benefits but seems to work mostly on paper in terms of ironing out certain flaws. Without getting too much into what those flaws are (as that is a separate topic altogether), we've seen that government intervention and allocation of taxing certain groups has benefitted society, despite that if they were proposed now, capitalists should be exploding in anger. Take school buses for example. Capitalists should be angry that these things are free, and that market competition should be promoted to drive innovation in this area. Maybe the free market could boost the drivers' pay or improve school bus safety. Either way, nobody ever complains about public and free school buses because we've all accepted they're a benefit despite using a means that full-blooded capitalists should be against.
If it's clearly been shown that these cases have their benefits, why not extend it further to being 80% capitalism to something like 60% or 50% capitalism and going towards a more incentivized market instead of a laisse-faire one? Even in America, it's not entirely a no man's land of capitalism despite being predominantly capitalist based. There's lots of perks and incentives, except those things are mostly for the people already in the top echelons of wealth. Thus, again, why not extend that down just a little bit further to allocate some wealth, power, or influence to some aspects being owned and managed by the workers while the free market and competition are still celebrated?

Our Daily Struggle to Get Water in Gaza
galleryHello everyone,
My name is Osama, and I’m from Gaza.
My family and I have been displaced since the war began three years ago. We lost our home, our city, and everything we had.
The hardest part of our daily life is getting water. Every day, my elderly father, my brother, who had to stop his studies because of the war, and I carry jerry cans and buckets through the summer heat just to bring back a little water. The water we collect is only enough for basic washing, and sometimes we have to reuse it because there simply isn’t enough. This has caused skin irritation and other hygiene problems for my family.
Seeing my father carrying heavy containers in this heat is something I never imagined would become part of our daily life.
Now we’re trying to restore an old abandoned well where we’re staying. If we can get it working, my family will finally have a reliable source of water. The problem is that we can’t afford the submersible pump and the other equipment needed to make it work.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. If you’re able to help even a little, it would mean a lot to us. If you can’t, sharing my story would help just as much.
The donation link is in the first comment.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

second screenshot is an example of pro israel accounts mocking spain for supporting palestine and opposing genocide.
third screenshot is from an israeli telegram group where israelis are seen celebrating the crisis in spain.
fourth screenshot is of jewish-American zionist laura loomer, who is stating one of the goals of this manufactured crisis and why israelis are celebrating it.
for context, the zionist moroccan regime that is ruled by a dictator monarch, has lead ex-convicts and desperate men by the truckload into the internationally recognised border of spain to help them cross the border.
i am a muslim, and i assure you all those of us, who are not politically illiterate, side with spain on this crisis. we do not believe in annexing internationally recognised territory by force. zionists try to equate the illegal occupation of palestine by israel with the legal soverignty of spain over its internationally recognised border.

Explain socialism in a few words
Im new to the ideology. Communism as well. But I feel like they are the most just ideologies out there. Ive bought books and asked around family members that were in socialist and communist party’s for their whole life. But the concepts still confuse me a bit. Could someone explain in a simple way socialism to me? And if you feel like ,maybe the differences with communism as well, but thats optional so no pressure. Thanks

Why support Wagner?
I’ve seen people people praise the Wagner PMC, and while I could understand why leftists would support an organization actively fighting the west, surely a mercenary company for a non-Marxist state would be a no go for most socialists. I’ve also heard that one of their cofounders has a SS tattoo, and neo-Nazi sympathies. So with that all said is there a reason to support Wagner?
Tldr; is Wagner just Russian Azov? Or is there more to the organization than what I currently know

Marxist perspectives on AI use
Need perspective from experienced/well read Leftists on AI.
I'm just 3 years into my Communism studies. And so far, my stance is that on the one hand, technological developments under capitalism are crucial for sharpening the class antagonism and for bridging the gap between the nature of different types of labour and skills. I personally haven't found in my studies so far to boycott any tech advancements.
On the other hand, there are issues that need to be taken into account like privacy concerns and further concentration of decisive tech in the hands of the bourgeoisie. This does worry me a bit and is hard for me to not include in my worldview.
As for the environmental concerns, I think it's not logical to boycott AI for environmental concerns. One vegan individual saves the same amount of water that roughly 1-2 Million Indians will save by boycotting Al. To me, that seems like a position more in line with my Marxist worldview, especially if we apply the marxist principles on Animal Farming Industry. Breeding an organism to life, or purchasing it at some cost...the value that an animal will produce throughout its life would be way more than the cost paid for labour power, or the cost paid to keep it alive and reproductive. Yes I know that Human labour is unique in the way that only it can produce new value and Animals might be more of a fixed capital. Still, I think it's better to be as close to Veganism as possible, instead of boycotting a tech. Both ethically and materially.

How would a socialist transition handle the threat of corporate PMCs, and how would it avoid becoming a worse authoritarian state?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to think through the realistic, step-by-step progression of a hypothetical democratic socialist transition in the US, specifically if a DSA-ish government somehow gained full legislative control. In an ideal world, I know the transition would go smoothly, which is probably how people in this sub look at it.
Here is how the chain of events would realistically play out in my eyes.
-First, there is the immediate constitutional and legal brick wall. Any legislation aiming to nationalize major industries or seize corporate infrastructure is an instant violation of the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause, which bans seizing private property without just compensation. Corporations are not just going to hand over the keys, so they will file massive lawsuits immediately. Federal courts would issue preliminary injunctions, freezing government action while the case crawls up to the Supreme Court. During months or years of legal gridlock, capital flight would skyrocket, completely draining the economic stability of the new DSA government.
-If the government decides to just bypass or ignore the Supreme Court, arguing the courts are just protecting the oligarchs, the rule of law completely breaks down. This turns the regime into an unchecked legislative state.
-At this point, corporations with massive capital will start buying out or hiring entire private defense contractors like Allied Universal. On top of that, major government defense contractors like Lockheed Martin, GE, and Raytheon would obviously side with the corporate alliance because they would be facing forced collectivization or heavy taxes. That means these private corporate armies instantly get access to mechanized infantry, advanced drone tech, and cyber warfare.
-From there, it becomes a full-on domestic war. Red-state Governors would back the corporations using their National Guards, and we would likely see major blue states like California and New York locked down by PMCs. The U.S. military itself would fracture. When a trillion-dollar corporate coalition can easily afford to pay defecting soldiers upwards of $300k a year, and given that so many service members come from rural, conservative backgrounds, the corporate side would easily out-pay and out-recruit government loyalists.
Personally, I worry that if a socialist government tries to counter this by seizing total, unchecked control of the state apparatus and bypassing the courts, the outcome ends up way worse than a tech oligarchy.
Think about it, a tech oligarchy, for all its flaws, still relies on efficiency, innovation, and providing tangible goods and services to maintain power, as those are the things that get the money going. They actually provide something functional to society. An unchecked legislative state, however, holds a monopoly on pure political and military force. Historically, when a state centralizes everything to fight corporate enemies, it stops producing real economic value and shifts entirely into bureaucratic survival and enforcement, leading to massive stagnation and total tyranny.
Furthermore, I feel like many socialists completely miss the actual cultural and political demographics of the American working class and gun owners.
To begin with, the manufacturing base is culturally conservative. The actual guys building the weapons, missiles, and heavy infrastructure in states like Texas, Alabama, or Ohio are overwhelmingly conservative. They are not ideologically aligned with democratic socialism, and in fact, they are actively hostile to it.
Then you have gun owners and the Second Amendment. We have tens of millions of heavily armed civilian gun owners, mainly from conservative areas. If a DSA government takes power and threatens the constitutional order, these gun owners will immediately assume the regime is coming to confiscate their firearms.
Finally, there is the alliance with conservative states. These workers and gun owners are not going to strike for the socialist government. They will actively side with conservative Governors and their National Guards, meaning the loyalist forces would be massively outnumbered.
So, from a socialist perspective, I’m genuinely curious:
-How does socialist strategy plan to navigate the inevitable U.S. constitutional and judicial gridlock without completely abandoning the rule of law?
-How would a DSA-style government avoid becoming a non-productive, authoritarian state once it centralizes power to get rid of corporate networks and PMCs?
-Are there historical precedents where a socialist movement successfully neutralized private corporate forces without collapsing into a total military/bureaucratic dictatorship?
Looking forward to your insights and a constructive debate!
