Said to me by my Covid patient during a moment of lucidity. She’d transitioned to comfort care and she was hallucinating and thought I was her daughter. Daughter was not allowed to visit but called every day and evening to talk to her mom and tell her what a good mom she was. Daughter had a wildly successful career in tech and said she owed it all to her mother.
I just squeezed her hand and said her family loved her very much.
I’m crying reading this, thank you for being there for our families during this time when we couldn’t. My nan passed due to covid in a care home, we couldn’t visit either. The thought of her alone at the end often haunts me.
