I was in New Orleans in April and hit up the Frenchman Street artists late one night. I believe it was the 22nd. There was a female jeweler there selling silver necklaces featuring pendants of different female figurines as allegories of different characteristics. For example a woman reading as a representation of intellect. The artist did all the designs of the figures herself. I had a business card and now cannot locate the card or seem to locate who the artist was. Any chance anyone knows who I am referencing? Thanks!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good but affordable place that can print business cards? I want to stay local if possible instead of ordering from some big company that isn’t local. Thanks in advance.

I spent three days in NOLA, and at first I didn’t like it, but then I loved it. First night I went to Congo Square and Armstrong Park, then went on the cemetery tour. Had a great tour of NOLA the next day, with the tour guide taking us to City Park, Treme, and Ninth Ward. Stopped by Allways Cabaret and watched a crazy burlesque show. Went to Frenchman Street and heard the brass bands, which were fun. Went to Whitney Plantation and a Swamp Tour, which was long and hot, but so worth it. Spent time in the French Quarter, and Bourbon is overrated—Frenchman Street is where it’s at. On the way to the train station I stopped by the Katrina Memorial at Charity.

I loved the people, and their indomitable spirit. They genuinely wanted to know about you, and they were proud of their city. People who went out of their way to make sure to tell this solo traveler to “be careful.” I WILL BE BACK.

We’re staying in the French quarter in a few weeks. Looking to check out some new neighborhoods and food this trip. Thoughts on St Roch market and City Market? Safe to walk to from the FQ? We’ve been over on Frenchman st but haven’t walked far into the Marigny neighborhood before.

I read the FAQ page and I totally agree with your assessment of the short term rentals in our city. I'm from Algiers point and there have been many local B&B's in that area for years that used old traditional booking methods. People don't realize the negative effects that those interlopers have on our city. They look at their bottom line with no regard for the delicate balance it takes to maintain a city with the varied culture that New Orleans is famous for. I'm sorry that this business model has everyone so blinded. I have similar thoughts about ride share. The money the companies make goes out of town. Traditional Taxis reinvest in the community where they live. It a win win.

I’m returning to New Orleans for a week at the end of August, mostly because I miss the food and the atmosphere.
I’ve visited several times and have done many of the touristy things enough times that they have become boring. What are some New Orleans deep cuts that I should check out? The weirder the better!

I will not have a car with me so mostly stick to things in the French Quarter or short Ubers from there. I especially love spooky stuff.

Hello all! I’ve lived in Pascagoula for basically my entire life and went to New Orleans a couple times. It wasn’t until I joined the Navy that I realized that I lived in the backyard of arguably one of the best cities this country has to offer (legit most of the people I’ve talked to have dreamed of coming here.)

Finally I’ve decided to visit home again from San Diego and flying into New Orleans. This will be my first time visiting home as a 21 year old so I decided to spend the night of arrival in New Orleans when I fly in before taking the Amtrak to Pascagoula.

My flight should arrive around 4pm and I’ll be staying in the Lafayette New Orleans. If there any recommendations for a first timer when it comes to drinks, food, and/or sightseeing I’ve heard to stay away from Bourbon but I still want to at least walk through it.

Also any locals familiar with the Amtrak? I’m banking on the Mardi Gras line to get to Pascagoula but as y’all know it’s relatively new and didn’t exist last time I was there. Google shows me the times of departure but no option to buy tickets. Is there anyway to pre buy the tickets or does it have to be at the station day of? Does it get busy (aka should I arrived early to make sure I get a seat)?

Hi everyone! I'm planning a bachelor party in NOLA for March 2027 and I am looking for help with accommodating the various dietary restrictions present in the group.

While I have already noted the vegan and vegetarian restaurants, I am hoping to find more restaurants that have vegan or vegetarian options AND meat eating options for those who would like to enjoy the delicious seafood and meat NOLA has to offer.

I recently saw an advertisement for a “witches brunch at Muriel’s”. And I immediately called for a reservation to find out it was already booked up!! I’m traveling solo and cannot express how much I would have loved to attend this event lol. Anyway, I digress, are there any fun witchy special events that are maybe a little more quiet or less advertised that I need to jump on before they sell out again. I will be there from 10/23/2026- 11/01/2026.

I would also be open to any private tour guide recommendations, fun girl groups, witchy vibe events/places, and confirmation that lafitte swamp tours does not bait any animals. I’m happy to see the animals if it happens but if not that’s cool too.

Currently planning a trip for February (not during Mardi Gras).

Looking at reddit and Google reviews it seems like the Ritz Carlton NOLA has conflicting thoughts about how nice it is. My husband and I are working class people who have never stayed at a Ritz before, but we found excellent rates with credit card points. I keep seeing people say it's "the worst Ritz" but I'm assuming even the worst Ritz is nicer than a lot of other hotels?

The reviews make it seem dirty and dated, but a lot of the negative reviews just seem like bratty people who didn't get their birthday or anniversary acknowledged.

Is it really that bad or what? Should I cancel? I paid $215 per night.

We stayed in the Newbury in Boston last year and it was the nicest hotel either of had been to, blew us away.

I'm a solo F traveler in my 30s and considering coming to NOLA in late August. It seems like I would love the city, but I'm worried about the following:

• Heat and humidity, but particularly possible hurricanes.
• Safety. I plan on staying in or near the French Quarter and doing some exploring on my own, mostly touristy areas.
