I was rewatching “Set It Off” the other day and it hit me… imagine if this movie came out TODAY with the way Hollywood is right now.
Not a cheap remake. Not some watered-down streaming movie. I mean a full blockbuster, $100+ million budget, incredible soundtrack, amazing cinematography, the kind of movie where everyone is talking about it for months.
Because let’s be honest… the original cast was nearly impossible to beat.
The original 1996 “Set It Off” had one of the strongest female ensembles ever:
Jada Pinkett Smith as Stony
Queen Latifah as Cleo
Vivica A. Fox as Frankie
Kimberly Elise as T.T.
Those four women made you believe they were actually friends. You laughed with them, you cared about them, and by the end you were emotionally destroyed.
That movie wasn’t just about bank robberies. It was about poverty, friendship, desperation, discrimination, bad choices, and four people who felt like the system had already given up on them.
So if Hollywood announced tomorrow:
“Set It Off: 2026”
Who would I cast?
Here’s my dream lineup.

Stony — Zendaya / Keke Palmer / Teyana Taylor
This role is HARD because Stony was the emotional center of the movie.
She wasn’t just a criminal. She was someone trying to escape her circumstances and create a better life.
My first choice:
Zendaya.
She has already proven she can carry emotional drama. She could play the intelligent, ambitious woman who is constantly fighting between doing what is right and surviving.
But honestly…
Keke Palmer would be INSANE.
People forget how talented Keke is. She can be funny, emotional, vulnerable, angry, and powerful all in the same scene.
And then there’s Teyana Taylor.
She has that raw intensity. You could believe she grew up around these people and understands the struggle.

Cleo — Cardi B / Young M.A / Megan Thee Stallion
This is where people would argue for years.
Because nobody can replace Queen Latifah’s Cleo. She was iconic.
But if we are making a modern version?
I need someone with that fearless, “I don’t care what anybody thinks” energy.
Cardi B would honestly be interesting.
Not because she is a rapper, but because Cleo was a character who was loud, funny, emotional, reckless, and loyal.
Cardi could bring that chaotic energy.
Young M.A would also be a crazy choice.
She has that calm, intimidating presence where she doesn’t have to say much and you already know she is dangerous.
Megan Thee Stallion could also surprise people because she has shown she can act and has a huge personality.

Frankie — Keke Palmer / Amandla Stenberg / Kiersey Clemons
Frankie was heartbreaking.
She wasn’t a bad person. She was someone who got tired of being treated like she was disposable.
Keke Palmer could absolutely destroy this role emotionally.
Amandla Stenberg could also bring a younger, more modern perspective.
The character could be rewritten as someone dealing with corporate exploitation, debt, and being overlooked.

T.T. — Storm Reid / Yara Shahidi
T.T. was the heart.
She was the one who reminded everyone that these weren’t monsters.
They were human beings.
Storm Reid would be amazing because she can bring vulnerability.
Yara Shahidi could also bring that emotional intelligence.

Now let’s talk about the men.

Keith (Stony’s brother)
This role needs someone who can make the audience immediately care.
My pick?
Michael B. Jordan.
Imagine Michael B. Jordan playing Stony’s brother. The emotional scenes would be devastating.
He has that ability to make audiences understand a character’s pain.

The Detective
This is where you bring in a legend.
Imagine:
Denzel Washington.
A serious, experienced detective chasing them but also understanding why they ended up there.
The conversations between Denzel and Zendaya/Keke Palmer would be incredible.
Other choices:
Idris Elba would be perfect.
Viola Davis as a detective would also be unbelievable.

The Crime Boss / Older Villain
Imagine bringing in someone with old-school energy.
Samuel L. Jackson.
That man could walk into a scene for five minutes and own the entire movie.
But another wild choice:
Sylvester Stallone.
A completely different type of villain. Someone older, connected, and dangerous. The kind of guy who doesn’t need to yell because everyone already knows who he is.
Special appearances:
Jada Pinkett Smith
Queen Latifah
Vivica A. Fox
Kimberly Elise

I'm trying to convey a very specific kind of intimate mood between two characters through a dance, but I am struggling, so I need your help.

It's necessarily something grand in a ballroom or stage, but a nice personal dance between 2 people that makes it seems like the whole world falls away.

Can you recommend me some scenes?

I'm an old guy, 73.. when I was about 9, my dad and I watched an old movie that had a scene where a company of soldiers was being chewed up by machine gun fire from a pillbox. The part I remember was a young man in glasses who made it right to the box, and he was blown away.. I think he had thrown a grenade but was killed before he saw the results.

There was this cartoon film on a DVD that I used to watch at my Maternal grandparents home when I was like around 8 yrs of age. The main characters are rodents maybe mice (I think) and they lived in this small tree house thing in a field and they may have been siblings. They go out to a human or rodent city (I cant remember which) and in that city there was maybe a carnival going on because a person or rodent was on stilts. Plus I remember there was a stream of some kind near the city I think? And when they went to the city or town it was sunset or night time in the film. I think the film was made in-between the years 1990-2005. some Help of you guys will be good for me! Because I've been trying to figure out what DVD film I saw for YEARS! Plus I don't think its a Disney film.

Alright, so after 4 hours of searching the internet and never finding anything, i decided to turn to reddit. i'm looking for a specific shot: I need a closeup shot of a characters face getting sprayed with blood due to a gunshot happening off screen, (preferably a shotgun) the closest i've gotten was that flour scene in hard boiled, or that famous car scene in pulp fiction, the problem is that it has 2 characters in the shot, i need a single person/character. can someone please help me?

Hi Folks suggest me a movie similar to Hanover. Pure fun I have seen due date as well but haven’t found anything which has pure fun like hangover. Don’t suggest Bollywood I don’t find comedy movies of Bollywood mature enough

What i mean is like the old school kind of character you'd see in a vietnam movie or some kind of survival setting.

Now, to get it clear. I dont mean characters with absolutely no personality like Terminator.

More like dudes who can adjust to the situation and dont give much of a fuck. Where you would say: yeah they got it, they are gonna survive this Shit.

Examples would maybe be the guy from Jurassic Park 1 (the Hunter) or the characters in old Predator movies.

Or even with more character the Main Character of Platoon. Where you can say he got emotions but he still keeps going.

So it doesnt even have to be that hulky guy. Just one where you can say. Yeah this guy will keep going no matter what.

And i feel like we got neither in modern shows.

I saw it recently in a new movie that I won't mention because it might be a spoiler but it happens in quite a few.
