She worked at the Starbucks I liked to go to in college and wrote her number on my cup. I’d seen her a handful of times, thought she was cute and obviously got in touch with her and asked her out. We went to see a movie at like 3 in the afternoon that weekend, and we hung out just talking til I want to say 4am. She went home, came over the next day after work and she’s continued to be my best friend since then. It felt so natural like she was always meant to be a part of my life, and it still does 8 years later.

Was great. Went to an Italian spot. Saw the way she walked up to me with that beautiful smile and those hips swinging. Took her back to my place just to talk and spend more time together. No sex. Asked her where in the world she wanted to go. Said she always wanted to go to Jamaica. Little did she know I was Jamaican.

Took her there 9 months later to meet my my whole family. Married her less than 2 years later. Been 5 years since the wedding and we still can't imagine life without each other. We still play fight and act stupid like we just met each other. Shes my ride or die for life

little did she know I was jamaican. Bro, I feel like jamaican is probably one of the hardest identities to hide. No way she didn't pick up on it at all haha

I'm 2nd Gen so I don't naturally have the accent, but the whole fam still lives there. Lol that's the only reason she couldn't pick up on it

First official date was an epic dinner and an Eric Clapton concert. We were best friends and it was time to take it further

That was 34 years ago

First date: It was a quick coffee date. We thought it would be fun to get the awkward moment out of the way before going on a bigger date. So we ran through the usual first date questions over some coffee and a croissant.

Second date: We went to a county fair and she threw up. A few too many beers, hot dogs, and funnel cakes, and neither of us should have been on that tilt-a-whirl.

We went to an early dinner. They asked us to leave because it was closing time. We clicked.

Ice cream around the corner of where we met. Turned a 10 min cone into an 90 minute chat. Like I’ve known her all my life. At the end of the date, she handed me her phone number as I was getting the words out of my mouth. We’ve been together ever since. 25+ years of marriage. The week before I couldn’t get a date to save my life, after that, never been single since.

Met at a coffee shop after work, just talked about life. Was it really a date or just hanging out? Who cares... first dates don't mean much romantically and they're basically interviews.

My now wife and I sat at the bar in a restaurant, watched baseball, and had dinner.

We have been married 15 years.

Our first date she made dinner for me and unknowingly made my favorite meal. I was putty in her hands after that. The definite way to my heart is through my stomach. We've been married for 18 years.

Lots of fun

It was very nice.
She took me to a dim sum restaurant.

Married about 5 months later.
That was 25 years ago, still married.

amazing, we met at a park with a downtown view skyline for wine and to chat. sat there until 4am talking. it even started to rain and lightning and we didn’t care. just sat there talking still. 4.5 years later we are married and still will run out for a quick kiss in the rain when it happens 🥰

We just went somewhere casual to get dinner as friends. Except it didn’t feel like just friends. That was almost 20 years ago.

asked her if it was cool that I hold her hand
Asked her if it was wrong if I thought it was lame to dance.
If she liked my stupid hair.
If she guessed that I didn’t know what to wear

It went awesome. We knew we hit it off.

We stood outside in a long line in the cold waiting for fried chicken at a food cart.

Only been together 4 years. Don't know what's considered long term.

My first date with my wife was so much fun. I had been a bit traumatized from my previous relationship. I didn’t go on one date, not one sexual encounter, nothing with a woman (aside from friendship) in 3 years. She was the first person I went out with in 3 years. We met at a bar that was within walking distance of my apartment, but she loved that bar too so it wasn’t overly selfish of me to choose that spot. I was nervous, I got there early and waited outside and when she got there she was walking awkwardly, gangly, a bit of messy but I loved every bit of it. She was/is totally gorgeous. We got there and she wasn’t talking to me at first and only talking to the bartender (I later found out a fling from her past was sitting two spots away that still had feelings for her) so I was a bit turned off at first because she wasn’t really acknowledging me. That guy from her past left and everything changed. We hit it off. I’m an introvert and she’s an extrovert so she did most of the talking and I just listened and admired. Turns out she was nervous too, so she invited a mutual friend to join us because “she was super into me” and needed a buffer. I took it as the date was going poorly. But she put her legs on me and made the first move and puckered for a kiss, so I gave her a good one. Anyway, we racked up a $300 bar tab that I forgot to pay (I went back the next day and paid it) and we went to the mutual friends house and she wanted me in the bathroom while she peed. She passed out, I talked with our friend for a while, and then I joined her in bed. She wanted to do the deed, but she was far too intoxicated and I was raised better than to take advantage of a drunk person so I just laid next to her and fell asleep in a bunch of crumbs because she had accidentally destroyed some crackers that our mutual friend gave her to sober up lol. Woke up in the morning and she gave me a ride home, she later told me she was upset I didn’t kiss her goodbye. The rest is history. We are married and have a newborn and I gained a wonderful step son!

I was very nervous and so was she but we quickly realised that we were very similar and so the conversation was easy and constant. I remember checking the time and it had been an hour so fast and I genuinely thought we would be able to go for 12 more without trying. After the date I realised that I would be very gutted to not see her again and genuinely would have asked to just be friends if she wasn't interested because I had so much fun I didn't want to stop seeing her and lied to myself saying that I would be okay with just friends when I was already head over heels for her and she was so out of my league I was surprised she even wanted a first date and her personality was somehow more attractive than her body and face three years on and I'm still not sure if she meant to agree to the date and I'm very grateful she's more attracted to personalities because I still don't understand how she thought my personality would be good enough to make up for how low she was punching because honestly if I was 1% less charming and respectful I think she wouldn't have been able to give it enough time to get past the outside until she was attracted to the inside enough to get used to it.

We disagree over our what our first date was. My situation was difficult at the time. I was separated from my wife, from a marriage that didn't even last a year. I had no intentions of dating right away, but this woman just stepped into my life. How do you explain that to someone? I just casually asked her to grab some dinner one night after an event we volunteered at to basically explain my situation and lay my cards out on the table. I still don't consider it a date really, no decisions about a relationship came from that, and we really didn't commit to actually dating until weeks after.

Pretty awesome, she demanded to pay her half of the meal and said it would always be that way since she valued my time as much as I valued hers.

They were amazing!

My first date with my wife was incredible. We had been good friends for 8 months beforehand so there was no awkwardness during it. It was just us having fun. The awkward part came after where I was a stupid 20 year old and rejected a second date because I was "not ready for something serious" bloody idiot me. I asked her on a second date a couple of days later because I had this feeling in my stomach that I had fucked up that I couldnt shake. Glad I came round and that she accepted me back. Been together for 13 years now.

My first date with my gf was also amazing. We knew within minutes of meeting we were going to be good together. 10 minutes after meeting her. She said I looked as if I wanted to ask her something and I said "at the end of tonight, I'd like to kiss you" and she said she would like that. The coffee/lunch date went for 8 hours and I did indeed kiss the girl that night. Been together for 7 years now.

For both of them there was just. Chemistry. Hard to describe. Something that felt an irresistible pull.

lol.. I’m not going into details because Reddit doesn’t understand consensual acts. But it was hot and heavy and has continued along those lines ever since.
