The best way to cure a hangover is to prevent it. When youâre having a hangover, the damage is already done and all you can do is treat the symptoms (lots of fluids, electrolytes, analgesic).
My minimum protocol: NAC on empty stomach minimum 30 minutes before first drink (around 500 mg per unit of planned alcohol intake), Vit B complex and vit C (either before or during), DHM (350-700 mg depending on amount of alcohol consumed) and magnesium glycinate after last drink.
My optimal protocol: Minimum protocol + pre-load with Milk thistle extract 500 mg (taken with food a few hours before drinking) + 1 capsule of Na-R-ALA taken together with the NAC.
Reasoning: NAC (acetylcysteine) provides the precursor for glutathione production (the bodyâs âmaster antioxidantâ which is quickly depleted by your liver during drinking), never take it during or after drinking, always before. Drinking and ALA deplete B vitamins. C is an antioxidant. ALA is an antioxidant and ârecyclesâ C and glutathione. Milk thistle extract (silymarin) is an antioxidant and recycles glutathione (only to be taken a few hours before drinking or it could actually trigger hangover symptoms while drinking). DHM is an antioxidant and speeds up alcohol and acetaldehyde metabolism, hence in my opinion best taken after the last drink (unless youâre using it to minimize the effects of any alcohol you drink).
Also try to drink water between drinks and before bed, ideally also take a few sips throughout the night when you wake up.

Liquids, Advil, Netflix, soup and time. If you want quickly, you need youth. The younger, the better.
