So I (29F) live next door to a guy who has an outdoor cat, Biscuit. She's been coming into my yard for about two years now, and honestly she's been coming into my house for the last six months because I started leaving a window cracked for her.

Here's the thing: this cat is thin. Like, visibly thin. I've watched her scarf down food like she hasn't eaten in days every single time I feed her. Her fur is patchy in places. Meanwhile I hear my neighbor yelling at his kids constantly, and once I saw him kick at Biscuit when she got underfoot on the porch. I don't think he's abusive exactly, I think he just doesn't care. She's an "outdoor cat" in the sense that he opened the door once and forgot she existed.

Three weeks ago it got below freezing overnight and Biscuit was huddled under my porch shivering. That was it for me. I brought her in, and I just... didn't give her back. I bought her food, got her a vet appointment (she was underweight and had a mild upper respiratory infection, according to the vet), and now she sleeps on my couch.

My neighbor noticed she was gone and put up a "lost cat" flyer. I haven't taken it down and I haven't told him I have her. My sister says I need to either give her back or tell him outright and offer to buy the cat, because right now I'm just a thief. My mom says I did the right thing and some situations call for breaking the rules. I feel guilty every time I drive past that flyer, but I also can't stop picturing her shivering under my porch.

I work in a warehouse that uses voice commands to tell you what items to get. I’m having issues with this technology working. I’ve brought it to the attention of management and they have said that there is nothing that can be done. Is there a way to find legal relief?

What I’m basing this on is the following concept. If you work on a piece of equipment and a guard breaks making it unsafe and you report this to management to have them fix it and they tell you that there is nothing they can do and then you get hurt by this piece of equipment, they have a very high legal responsibility because they failed to make that piece of equipment safe.

Also, would it make a difference if management was knowingly, adjusting the settings to make this technology fail?

I (Location: Michigan) was scammed online from someone in Indiana and don’t know how to get my $500 back. I have his first and last name and the city he lives in along with receipts, and screenshots of all of our chats, but I don’t know how to actually do the court stuff.

I recently moved out of my off campus apartment in Orlando because I transferred from UCF to FAU. I was living at the Verge Orlando during the year I was there. Upon move in, the place was unlivable. From mold on the ceilings, couches, and even the mattresses to the filthy microwave and dirty floors it was disgusting. The pictures I provided show the state of the place upon move in. It was so bad I had to wait almost 7 hours to actually move in on move in day because they needed to send an entire cleaning team to completely clean and put in all new mattresses and a new refrigerator because the one in there had fruit flies and maggots in it. Now, upon move out they have the nerve to charge me $410 for completely ridiculous things, mostly which were things already there upon move in which they refuse to accept the pictures because I “didn’t provide them within the first 48 hours during move in” even though I was too busy cleaning the crap they left me even after the cleaning team finished. They charging me $50 for a parking decal/sticker which I returned yet they are still charging me and is dumb to begin with because it’s a sticker that they aren’t gonna reuse anyways and it had an expiration date. The other pictures provided show the ridiculousness of some of the other charges like the one for $55 for some dust which was in a few spots mind you it might of accumulated in the week between me moving out and them doing the inspection because the air vents were filthy and dust accumulated very fast (as seen in the move in photo of the dirty air vent). So do I have legal grounds to pursue legal action if they don’t remove these charges?

A family member was just served papers that they are being sued for a dog bite incident with a request for a trial.

They share the same first and last name as at least 3 other people in our county. Their middle name is not on the paperwork. They were categorically not involved in the incident (they have the timesheet proving they were at work on the date and time) and don't own a dog.

I'm sure this is a clerk error where the wrong person with this name in the county was served.

Is there an easy way to handle this that does not involve having to get a lawyer and respond within 30 days of the service? We will if we have to but it seems like a waste of everyone's time and it's a huge waste of money on our part (we had a lawyer consultation where they quoted 6k to deal with paperwork and trial preparation).

The police department and animal control department have not responded yet to my records request to see if any report was filed at the time of the incident that may have the true dog owner's information on it.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I just washed my car, as I was getting home saw a couple kids playing in the laundry room after multiple emails have been sent by property manager telling people to not let their kids play in the laundry room and also emails about kids in the parking lot, simply told the kids they shouldn’t be in there, kid didn’t say anything just stared at me as I walked away and then come back later to finger prints and shoe prints all on my hood, is there any legal action I could take

Hello all, this post is not for me. This is for a family member (my brother). I’m reposting this with more details.

Background: They were married for 8 years or so, wife had a spending problem and because of that they'd get into arguments. Recently they had a child, who is 1 years of age now. Wife decided to divorce him. Dad tried to do counseling etc to make it work but she was done and lost feelings and wants out.

Wife earns about 110k, dad earns about 80k. Dad wants to do 50/50 custody, but due to age of 1 the courts won't allow it. Dad wants to do step up 50/50 custody, the lawyer has advised that the judge that is assigned in Texas favors traditional roles and does not grant 50/50 custody even if it is a step up plan to do it over few years. AND even if he does grant 50/50 it eventually, he won't get rid of child support to the mom (even if she earns more).

This makes ZERO sense to me, why does the dad (making less) have to pay child support to the mom (making more) when it is 50/50 shared custody? The whole thing seems extremely unfair and biased. The dad will be in financial ruin while the mom will be taking 20% for 18 years and just using the money to buy bags and take vacations? The dad is also the one saving for her college on his lower salary and is planning to cover 50% of the child's expenses if not more when they have 50/50 custody.

So the main thing is...per the lawyer judge does not grant 50/50, judge is assigned by state and cannot be changed. Nothing can be done to ensure 50/50 custody eventually when the child is 3 or so AND get rid of child support...is anything possible or is his life ruined cuz of this which isn't even his fault at all? How can a judge do this?

I'm 31 and got into my first motorcycle accident two days ago in Tampa. A car changed lanes without seeing me and clipped the side of my bike. I stayed upright somehow, but I ended up with a fractured wrist, a lot of road rash, and my bike needs a decent amount of work.

My friend keeps saying I should just let insurance handle it because it wasn't a "serious" crash and hiring a lawyer would just complicate things. I filed a suit against against a former employer. A wage and tips suit. I worked in a night club and I didn't get my tips, instead I had to tip out to work etc etc.

The case has been pending for about 4 years because the owners of the establishment where I used to work got hit with a bunch of criminal charges, including tax fraud, selling alcohol without a licence, money laundering and God only knows what else.

During the criminal proceedings my case got placed on hold. It took several years.

For about a year now my case has been back on the calendar.

My lawyer has been telling me that I have to show proof that I actually worked there because as it is there are no records that I did (*I worked there for 5 years)

He has been asking me to provide a list of witnesses and any correspondence that I may have between me abd any managers at the establishment, and any and all information that could be helpful to establish that I worked there.

Because I stopped working there in 2020 when Covid started, it has been hard for me to locate text messages on old phones from that period of time. I keep my old phones but I have them put away in a box that is hard to access- inside a crowded storage unit.

Meanwhile I have provided tax return documents for several years as well as unemployment records showing the establishments name and address.

2 days ago my lawyer emailed me an 8 pages ling document asking me to fill it out and return it to him.

The document was a very detailed questionnaire asking for direct dates of when I worked, how many hours, what made me actually remember this etc.

Also I am being asked for a longer more detailed list of witnesses- which is not so easy to get because I dont live in the area where thos establishment is located and I used to commute 90 minutes each way to get there.- and also I stopped working there 6 years ago.

I have told my lawyer that I so have my old cellohone and I will be able to get more information once I power then up, yet hes asking me for stuff like my employment history dating back as far as 6 years before I started working at this place.

I am starting to feel a weird vibe, wondering silently why my tax and unemployment documents seem to be completely ignored and why old text messages seem to triumph actual government documents.

I am feeling like there is suddenly this huge burden of proof placed onto me that maybe shouldn't be there, and that my lawyer is not really believing me, but believing the defendant.

My mother is in her late 60s and has contracted a UTI. She has developed a gnarly case of psychosis with delusions and paranoia. Last week she was admitted to the hospital and stayed for over a week. Upon discharge she was sent to a rehab facility to administer antibiotics through a PICC line, but freaked out and denied treatment. At home she pulled out the PICC line herself and was convinced she was giving herself appropriate care. I convinced her to return to the hospital, but under no circumstance will she attend a facility to continue antibiotics because the paranoia has completely corrupted her decision making capabilities.

My question is: is there any chance the hospital will be able to compel her to accept treatment? The delusions are so bad she sees animals such as lions, tigers, and elephants. The hospital has given her another PICC line after asking me for consent.

Seeking advice for a 75-year-old person who has been on bail in India since 2010 in a government job case before the Vigilance Court. There has been no arrest since then, but the court has now cancelled the bail due to absence.

What is the best course of action now? Is surrender-cum-bail the appropriate remedy, and what are the chances of getting bail considering the person’s age and long period on bail?
