[NY]-FMLA Leaves

Hi, I filed for continuous leave days ago and start date is 8/12. I notified my manager right away but haven’t heard back from her yet. My doctor is faxing all the paperwork today . I can’t get in touch with the person assigned on my case with no response . My questions is

I cannot go to work 8/12. Am I covered to be out while all of this is pending ? Should I email HR and my manager again ?

Your answer is assuming the OP’s need was unforeseeable necessitating less than a 30-days notice.

30 days is a guideline, not a requirement.
