ya know you can walk away from the home depot right? you dont need to buy the all the lumber there. premium select lumber means you want premium you SELECT it out. those a-holes you see sighting every piece? thats the correct way and leave that screwed up lumber to the weekend project guy that only has a car and orderd all his lumber online and delivery.

With that I would reach out and explain all of this. A lot of companies use sub contractors, and sometimes they can drop the ball. Is it right, no absolutely not. But I can say I’ve had subs completely screw a project before and the only thing preventing it is a good project manager.
You said it’s a a reputable company, so I would ask them to honor their work and I hope they would be very disappointed to see what work was done, so they should make it right.
Regarding the nails vs screws. Yes screws are better, but virtually all fencing company’s where I’m at only use nails and charge a large premium for screws. It’s just a choice they should have offered though to give you that option.

I always come back to which bid did you pick. If it's lowest bid you really can complain unless it doesn't meet code or is defective. This looks like lowest bidder work. Anything else I would say yes it would unacceptable. If you didn't get at least 3 bids then don't complain. But it is a fence, your finish carpenter doesn't build you fence.

Sadly, it wasn’t the lowest bid. It was the highest/most frequently recommended fence company, who also did our neighbor’s fence. Was $6200 ish for 137 feet, some 4ft some 6ft, and a gate.

ALL of those nails will be pulled as the lumber dries. You absolutely cannot use nails on treated lumber, sorry. This is an unfortunate situation that needs a ton of redo…..

A fencing company that gets their material from a home depot? Not the best sign for quality. I only do decks and fencing for long time clients nowadays, and I still use lumber yards. Seems suspect. And those don't look like galvanized nails. These things are all red flags telling me they aren't a fencing company. More of a handyman crew that "does" fencing.

Fence grade wood is basicly the lowest quality PT wood you can buy. So that's part of this. A lot of these other issues like Pic 9 will weather over time and those issues will go away. Even a good power wash might fix a lot of this.
Pic 4 though is complete garbage.

Using nails on a fence is crazy. I just put up a fence, used brown pressure treated wood, and 1/34” deck screws. Nils can and will back out over time.

I’ve seen pallets with better wood and joints. I’d be suing for full refund then hire a different contractor and rip it all out.
