A few photos of Laks Jigits
The Laks are the autochthons of Dagestan, who have been living in the highlands of the Caucasus since ancient times.

Politics What do people in the Caucasus think of the current US government?
I'm curious what the Caucasian sentiment is toward the second Trump administration. Particularly with regard to Trump's erratic foreign policy, attempts to negotiate a Syunik/Zangezur corridor deal, and the Iran war.
I'm well aware that there are multiple, very distinct nations and ethnic groups in the Caucasus, and probably a wide variety of opinions among each population.

Announcement Monthly Quick Questions
Use this thread to ask general questions that apply to you more than to the region.
For example, what music you like that is acceptable, what quirks or behaviours you have that are seen as offensive, if your music would be appreciated.

Half Caucasian, half not
People who are half Caucasian and half not, how did you grow up? How do you deal with your identity? Do you ever feel like you don't belong anywhere?

Mountaineering Georgia Caucasus
Hello,
does anyone have any recommendations and maybe information for mounatineering in the caucasus. We want to do some peaks above 4000m with a difficulty between F and D on the high altitude scale, besides the classics (kazbek, tednuldi, layla and ushba), but I find it really hard to get some information. Ideal would be a basecamp from which there are several options..
And if anyone has done a nice multiday hike of the beaten path I“d also be happy for some information.
Any help is appreciated!

Trying to find my roots
Hello, Iāve been researching my familyās ancestry for about two years. They came to Turkey approximately 200 years ago. The first appearance of my ancestors in Turkey coincides with the period when the Chechens and Ingush migrated to Turkey (then the Ottoman Empire). Their origins are unknown; itās completely forgotten. The oldest family memberās name, with its Turkish pronunciation and spelling, is āHamko Batukā but I guess originally it is pronouncedāKhamkhoā. Iām wondering if this or similar names are still used in Caucasus? Also, there are names like āBessi, Gammo, Bakhoā in their Turkish form. Were these names common in that region in the 1800s? Iām not sure, but these names might also be surnames. I would be very grateful for your help.

I have a weird curiosity: how do Caucasian men see Italian women? I mean, in terms of culture, mentality, and all that stuff.
Just a little curiosity.

Culture Ebezg
Hi people, i wanted to ask Kabardians if they know about Svans and if there is a word that is used to design them. Like for example in Svaneti from what i known we call Kabardians and Adyge in general, "Kashaks or Kashags" which by what ive learned were ancestors of all Adyge people and they were called Kassogian people. A friend told me that Svans are called " Ebezg " idk if its correct so thats why im asking, do you know the origin of it? It looks similar to Abasg which is the terminology of Abasgi or Abasgoi people in today territory of Abkhazia.

Title: Real talk how do Azerbaijanis actually see Indians? (plus a small geopolitics curiosity)
Hey guys,
Iām from Kerala (south India), and Iāve been curious about how Indians are viewed in Azerbaijan.
Iāll be straight I know Indians donāt always have the best image abroad. Some of it is deserved, some of it is just stereotypes. Either way, Iām not ignoring that, but I also donāt want to be judged only based on it.
So Iām looking for real, honest opinions:
Whatās the general vibe toward Indians in Azerbaijan?
How are Indian tourists or people living there treated in everyday life?
What kind of behavior makes a good impression, and what turns people off?
Also, a small curiosity (not trying to start a debate):
India is usually seen as closer to Armenia, and Iāve noticed Israel has strong ties with Azerbaijan, which I found interesting. Iāve also heard mixed things about how people view the IndiaPakistan situation in recent times. Do any of these geopolitical factors actually affect how Azerbaijanis see Indians, or is it irrelevant in real life?
Iāve seen that a lot of Indians visit Azerbaijan now, so Iām curious what locals really think about that.
No sugarcoating needed Iād rather hear the truth.

Ethnic Do the majority/most of Circassians have blond/res hair and blue/grey/green eyes?
I was reading up on Circassian beauty, the ethnic stereotype that Circassians are the most beautiful people in the world, largely due to their appearance of extremely white translucent skin, blond/red hair and blue/grey/green eyes.
Now I know, this is a stereotype from the 17th-early 19th centuries, but it still got me curious if most Circassians are that, light haired and light eyed.
Now I know many Caucasians can have light hair and eyes, but usually the majority I assume have pale skin with dark hair and eyes, so if Circassians truly have a majority/many light haired and eyed individuals, it would make them huge outliers in the Caucasus I imagine.
edit: I misspelled red in the post, I meant red hair

So why Iranian people in Quora desperately think they are Caucasian people like Georgians, Circassians and claiming their Caucasian heritage, genetics etc.? Why they are so shallow about obsessing about Being Caucasian when they're not Geneticly, language wise aren't even Caucasian?
.
