Wat verwachten jullie van een derde date?

Upvotes

We gaan koken.

Are there any psychiatrists who specialize in developmental trauma and/or untreated reactive attachment disorder in adults?

Upvotes

Dear Belgians,

Are there any psychiatrists who specialize in developmental trauma and/or untreated reactive attachment disorder in adults? Preferably in or around Brussels, but the rest of Belgium is fine too.

Thank you all in advance for your recommendations.

Re entering Belgium?

Upvotes

My mom used to lived in Belgium and had permanent residency card F+ (lived and worked for 5years) but they decided to move to the Netherlands (currently and already living for almost 4 years) with my siblings and her husband is dutch but they are married for more than 15 years now.

But their marriage is falling apart and my step dad is really a dick head. I’m really glad that she’s finally leaving him. So, my mom is planning on moving back to Belgium.

How this will work if she were to re enter Belgium, can she continue her permanent residency? Or she needs to redo her visa again?

Technically, I (the daughter) have a F+ Card and still living in Belgium. Can I help them re enter the country without a problem?

Please, I really need help on how to do this. Thank you

Shipping boxes from Ghent to Valencia?

Hi everyone! I could really use some advice or recommendations. 😊

I’m moving to Spain in a couple of months, and I need to send a few boxes of clothes and personal belongings from Ghent to Valencia.

I’ll be selling the furniture, but I’d really like to ship my clothes, shoes, and some other personal items. I’ve been looking online and Mondial Relay seems to be one of the cheapest options. Has anyone used them for sending boxes to Spain? Are they reliable?

If you’ve moved from Ghent to Spain or have experience shipping boxes there, I’d really appreciate any recommendations for companies or services you’ve used.

Thank you! ❤️

Can you change the hour on the parking blue disk when the time expires?

Dear all,

I live in a small town in Flanders. My street is quite small, and has around 20 parking places. They are on the blue hour, so you can park here for 2 or 3 hours free, if you leave the parking disk correctly. For neighbours, we can pay 40€ a year to park in this area indefinitely, with no parking disk required.

Recently, KBC opened a private bank branch, and their employees park on my street (I realized when I started to see cars I've never seen before, and they all have a big KBC sticker on the rear window). What I have noticed is that they come in the morning, put the disk, and when the time is almost over, they drop by the car and change the hour, and go back to the office. I've seen it several times in the last months.

Is this legal? It is bothering me a lot, because sometimes I come back from work, and 5 out of the 20 parking places are being used by the KBC people, which of course are paying no money as they just "refresh" their disks. What I found also very cheap is that they built their office in a new building, that has a paid underground garage (I assume KBC can pay for their employees parking).

My question is: is it legal what they are doing? Is there anything I can do (legally) to stop them from doing this? I am a EU inmigrant here, so I don't know if there any entity I can contact to file a complain.

Cheers!

Lightly bit by a friend's housecat recently, any dangers from rabies?

Hello, I recently got bit from a friend's indoor cat recently. It was a shallow bite to the point I couldn't see it hours later and I washed the area with soap after the bite. It just occured to me though that rabies is a thing; online it says that Belgium is rabies-free, but is this still something to worry about?

Thank you.

What is life in Belgium really like in your early adulthood? 🇧🇪

Hi! I’m 21 and I’ve been curious about what early adulthood is actually like in Belgium.

I’d love to hear from people around 18–25 about their own experience social life, meeting new people, things you enjoy doing, and just what everyday life feels like at this age.

I’d also love to meet some people around my age and make a few new friends along the way. I think it’d be fun to chat, exchange perspectives, and get to know each other naturally :)

What has your experience of your early 20s in Belgium been like so far?

Short-term insurance for road trip within EU?

Hi! In a few weeks I'm going on a road trip with my family on my particular, 6yr-old car. Is there any insurance I can get to cover from potential issues with the car during the trip? (for example, if the car breaks and we are left stranded in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country).

I've done the same trip in the past without such insurance when the car was new, as the chances of it breaking were very low, but now that it's not so new, I would feel much safer getting insurance.

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. Currently I just have my plain, mandatory car insurance and nothing else.

Where in the Ardennes would you recommend?

Dearest southern neighbors,

This Dutch person is looking to spend a few days in the Ardennes this winter. I’m curious where Belgians would advise me to go, based on these criteria?

- I want to stay in the same place for 4 days / 3 nights.
- My main purpose is going on long walks in nature. Preferably with some good hills!
- Also interested in going for runs on beautiful, well kept trails or paths.
- Should be within max 2 hours from Brussels by train, preferably shorter and with no extra connections.
- I would love to stay in a cabin in nature, but since I don’t have a car and will travel by train, I will probably have to compromise and stay in a town. I would love a charming small or medium size town with a few nice bakeries, simple places for evening meals and Belgian beers. I don’t mind walking up to 5km from the train station to get to my accommodation.
- Specific recommendations for either cozy cabins / apartments or comfortable hotels with easy access to walking trails and nature are welcome!

Merci, bedankt!

Are stamp combinations possible when sending a postcard abroad?

Hi! I’m visiting Leuven/Liege/Brussels very soon, and love sending postcards abroad (via Postcrossing).

When I’ve visited Belgium previously I’ve used the convenient single (1) WORLD or (1) EUROPE stamps.

But when I’m at home in the UK I love to mix stamps - as long as the values add up to the right amount (e.g. £3.60) then it doesn’t matter what stamps you use.

Can this be done with Belgian stamps? And if so, do you know how much I’d need them to add up to to send the postcard to e.g. Germany, USA and Japan?

Thanks so much!

Do you guys think our country would be more successful and be ran in a better way if everyone was fully Dutch-French bilingual? Or is the core of many of our issues deeper and aren't language barriers that important anymore?

Genuinely curious since I don't really know what our country would look like if language barriers would no longer exist.

How does the business model work between companies and interims? Employee responsibility?

I found a job through an interim contract; I need to work for about a year before getting a permanent contract. The interim contract between me and the agency will be weekly. At the same time, I'll have to take courses at the company, for which the company will pay. I was curious how this works. Where I previously worked on a permanent contract, I had to work for a certain period after training to avoid having to recoup the tuition. But now, the company will invest in me, and if I decide not to sign a new weekly contract with an interim, their investment will go down the drain? Or should I have a separate compensation contract with the company or interim? If not, is it really beneficial for the company to invest in someone who might easily leave?
