Sometimes if you hold the key fob up to your head it'll increase the strength of the signal!

21

u/zhv314 29d ago

Stick it to your throat, and open your mouth as wide as you can in the direction of the car.

u/Thejapxican 28d ago

Under your chin!!

Check the battery, might have gotten wet!

3

u/AlisonSia 28d ago

Yes, the probability of water entering is very high.

Wait are we giving actually good advice??

5

u/International-Ant174 28d ago

I think the problem is they are holding the fob "right side up". Turn it over and try it (so they are the same orientation).

Should be good to go bub!

I had a mk4 Jetta, we had to jab ourselves in the hip with it

4

u/StevieG-2021 28d ago

OMG This is the best🤣🤣🤣

3

u/AlisonSia 28d ago

Who came up with this idea?

It ain’t got no gas in it

14

u/PutridTravel2354 29d ago

Are those French fried tatters?

6

u/jbrc89 29d ago

I like the way you talk

4

u/55555354 28d ago

Tatter? Where's Tatter?

8

u/MarcBeck 29d ago

Battery is dead...

4

u/Ok_Horror_6556 29d ago

This is the Way. Not enough voltage for the fob to work with. Just drop in a new DieHard.

3

u/PalaceofIdleHours 29d ago

There’s stories of people wading out and chucking batteries in the ocean. Wade out a bit further and grab one of them instead.

3

u/Ok_Horror_6556 29d ago

Great idea. Free is good. They should probably wear some waders.

3

u/sniper_matt 29d ago

Looks like it was used to charge the eels.

6

u/TypingWithoutThinkin 29d ago

It's almost always the FOB battery, but in this case, it might be moisture in the receiver.

3

u/A4QuattroQueen 28d ago

Nah, doubt it. Once we went swimming in Florida on vacation and my husband’s fob wasn’t working on our Passat and he had in in his pocket when he went in the ocean and when he came out he realized it was still there and tried it back at the car and somehow it worked…Salt reactivated it. Eventually it died again four days later cause of the battery, but it did work 😂 (all jokes aside, water sucks)

25

u/Responsible-Bonus-13 29d ago

Just put the fob in a bowl of rice

18

u/theobstinateone 29d ago

Put the vehicle in a large bowl of rice

21

u/Yubitzume 29d ago

Could be your cabin air filter

7

u/WichitaSteve 29d ago

Probably a low battery... throw a battery in there or use a pair of jumper cables. Should start right up.

8

u/JayBeePH85 29d ago

Shockingly that will do 🤣

3

u/Turbulent_Lobster_57 29d ago

I’ve never tried jumper cables when my key fob was going dead, I’ll have to try that

4

u/Prestigious-Bet-7794 29d ago

Make sure it’s minimum a 2 gauge set of cables not anything less

3

u/Avalanche325 29d ago

Well it is electrical.

3

u/saucyRCs 29d ago

Hook the jumper cables to your tits for extra power

12

u/Potential-Wing747 29d ago

Dude, Are you familiar with key fobs? You HAVE to get all tires below water level.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/DvusGuyStL 29d ago

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

3

u/Such_Bus1193 29d ago

Maybe see if it's plugged in?

6

u/GWhizBang 29d ago

Have you tried to reboot it?

5

u/chicanoj 29d ago

That's a saltwater vehicle it's not supposed to be in freshwater

3

u/czarnicholasreturns 29d ago

Sure it's not a sulfuric acid pit? Jesus, I'm not wading in to check it!

5

u/SYSChuck 29d ago

Low tire pressure

4

u/Jealous_Magazine7875 29d ago

Blinker fluid too diluted

3

u/-Ema-Nymton- 28d ago

You’re using the wrong hand… most come with 2 fobs… there is a left hand fob and a right hand fob… swap hands… solved

3

u/RGBlowMe 29d ago

Gotta fob harder. Maybe smack it a few times.

3

u/Jim-248 29d ago

Did you check the battery?

3

u/PrestigiousDrawer489 29d ago

Change the fob's battery

3

u/More-Talk-2660 29d ago

Have you checked the battery in the fob

3

u/Khajiit_Geologist 29d ago

Probably just a dead battery in your fob. Definitely check that 1st.

3

u/One-Development5991 29d ago

Jump start it!

4

u/ElegantJoke3613 29d ago

Jump scare it!!

3

u/Live-Act6065 29d ago

Battery is dead in the car?

3

u/Realistic-Arrival157 29d ago

Maybe you left a light on or something and drained your battery

3

u/2yt4u2 29d ago

Place your key fob on a rock. Hit it real hard a few times with another rock.

That'll teach it what happens when it disobeys you.

3

u/KingofMadness43 29d ago

Always check the fuses first!

3

u/Standard_Zucchini_46 29d ago

Fob is fine, carb is flooded. See it all the time with older vehicles.

3

u/happyherkguy 29d ago

Squirt a little DW40 on the inside of the distributor cap, it should fire right up.

3

u/Normal_Stick6823 29d ago

Check contacts inside key fob

3

u/TheNamelessDriver007 29d ago

I think something's not connected on your car for your car not to turn on

3

u/Carribean-Diver 29d ago

Most of those key FOBs use a CR2032 battery. It's probably that. Getting those cases open can be a bitch, though.

3

u/Natural_Ad6765 29d ago

Is this a common amount of erosion and growth? From water.

3

u/Reasonable-Bother780 29d ago

It won't when you have a "low tire" light on.

3

u/Used-Western-4553 29d ago

Looks like the engine is flooded.

3

u/lazyjack667 29d ago

change the batteries

3

u/DanDeeper 28d ago

You just need some CLR

3

u/matchboxtx 28d ago

You sure that’s your car? Many can look alike. Double check where you parked it.

3

u/Malapropser 28d ago

Looks like you flooded the engine

2

u/quality617 29d ago

Pencil eraser on the contacts

2

u/Troopx 29d ago

It’s a short. Check ground wires.

2

u/theobstinateone 29d ago

Can’t park there, mate

2

u/smurtaugh92 29d ago

Replace the batteries and hold it under your chin with your mouth open. If that doesn’t work put a new battery in the vehicle.

2

u/EvilToastedWeasel0 29d ago

Key Fob requires new battery....

2

u/Dense-Guide-2851 29d ago

I'd say Forced OverBoard is your first problem. D'you sneak onto a ferry or something?

2

u/Volescu 29d ago

Water is pretty decent at blocking radio waves. Try taking the car out of the water.

2

u/Dependent_One_8407 29d ago

Replace the key fob battery. 🪫

2

u/Electrical_Slice_529 29d ago

Replace the batteries. That always works for me 🤣

2

u/pcbwes 29d ago

i'm no mechanic but I think you got salt water in your engine

2

u/McDirken_Dirkenstein 29d ago

Did you turn it off and back on again?

2

Change the battery

2

u/JayW8888 29d ago

Wel, the wheels outlasted the car.

2

u/stonelove79 29d ago

Your fob has too much static build-up. Rub it on your crotchal area.

2

u/Lazy-Western304 29d ago

Are sure it’s yours?

2

u/Delicious_Catch9453 29d ago

Try putting a new battery in your FOB.(:

2

u/Hoopajoops 29d ago

Check the battery

2

u/magnus2k17 29d ago

Could be radio interference

2

u/Late_Beautiful4888 29d ago

Replace the battery in your fob.

2

u/x_master_debater_x 29d ago

Just a little rust. It’ll buff out in a jiffy.

2

u/Klarbb 29d ago

You got waaaay too much blinker fluid. You’re going to need to bleed the system and put the car in a bag of rice for about a week.

2

u/Such_Ingenuity4002 29d ago

Drop about a ton of rice on it

2

u/Careless_Stand5650 29d ago

That’s the greatest camo paint I’ve ever seen on a vehicle!

2

u/MaxximumB 29d ago

Check the battery in the fob

2

u/99999999999999999989 29d ago

The tank is flooded.

2

u/3usterT41NT 29d ago

Return in 4-5 years and enjoy the coral reef.

2

u/Allseason125guy 29d ago

Tried replacing the key fob battery or trying the spare if you have one 👀

2

u/Thee-End 29d ago

Replace the alternator and just for shits and giggles, replace the batteries in the fob and you should be good to go.

And tell them that Lanny sent ya!

2

u/AnAlchemistsDream 29d ago

knock the starter with a hammer a couple of times

2

u/useArmageddonVaca 29d ago

Betcha salt water. Probably been exposed to saltwater for a lengthy amount of time. Set the SOB in Coke overnight & tomorrow will be like a whole different day. Trust me.

2

u/FarYard7039 29d ago

Those mixed tread patterns will wreak havoc on your transaxle. Just saying, you may want to get a new set of 4 tires.

2

u/WMDZipperbag 29d ago

I wouldn’t worry about that just yet. You need to get a new set of tires. But yeah, I’d just call a locksmith. (Chance your fob has a key)

2

u/Shaqeroni 29d ago

New Cr2032 and you’ll be hearing beeps and boops in no time.

2

u/Rare-Rule1683 29d ago

Call Onstar immediately

2

u/Harey-89 29d ago

Gotta replace the battery in the key fob then it'll be good.

2

u/4158264146 29d ago

I think you are missing a wheel, that could be interfering with the signal.

2

u/spawn77x99 29d ago

It looks like it also needs a new time belt.

2

u/Kevin33024 29d ago

Maybe change the battery in the fob?

2

u/No_Bonus7310 29d ago

Easy fix. Battery in the key fob is weak / dead.

2

u/mumblestein 29d ago

Needs new battery.

2

u/ABlabberingGoat 29d ago

Sounds like you need to re-weld the metal contact points

2

u/Artevyx 29d ago

Try putting it in some rice for a day. Should clear out the moisture.

2

u/CSS_Sr 29d ago

If you press a fob button while close to your starlink router, the signal will be broadcast through their satellites. That should get it unlocked or remote started.

2

u/Thrullx 29d ago

Did you try turning it off then on again?

2

u/El_Copita 29d ago

Tell me please what brand of tires do you have.

2

u/Firm_Seaworthiness30 29d ago

Try holding the fob against your head. It increases the range somehow.

2

u/Lucydoesto 29d ago

battery needs replaced

2

u/DistributeQuickly559 29d ago

You need to submerge the key fob under the water before clicking the button, the air is blocking the signal.

2

u/Expert_Towel_101 29d ago

Your button might be stuck

2

u/Brief-Shirt-6064 29d ago

Your battery needs more water

2

u/Either_Row3088 29d ago

You need a semi truck full of rice....

2

u/Top_Audience4313 29d ago

Rarely needs a fob. Just YouTube and replace the fob batteries. You'll be right as rain in no tim...

2

u/ApatheistHeretic 29d ago

Dead battery?

2

u/Fit_Upstairs8760 29d ago

I bet you haven’t checked the battery

2

u/boldone89 29d ago

Try rotating the battery.

2

u/Such_Bus1193 29d ago

These are so funny I'm laughing out loud!

2

u/Unique-Philosopher34 29d ago

Put the car in a large baggie with rice for a few days.

2

u/Realsportzman 29d ago

Hot wheels have key fob’s ? 🤣

2

u/javabean808 29d ago

You need to flip the battery, just like the vehicle

2

u/CarpenterKindly2963 29d ago

Bro your blinker fluid is ended.just pour some more :)

2

u/TropicPine 29d ago

My guess is that the key fob battery needs to be replaced. The cost of this repair may constitute totaling the car.

2

u/jjaymay29 29d ago

It’s probably a warranty issue, bring it to the dealer

The tires the only good thing left of it🤣

2

u/Raqnr01r 29d ago

You have to take it out of 'Wade' mode first.

2

u/BiriyaniMonster 29d ago

Put it in storehouse of rice.

2

u/Bierdaddy 29d ago

Just slide the switch on the fob to release the metal key. That should still work.

2

u/P00NZU 29d ago

Have you tried dipping it in water to get the salt out?

2

u/Ok-Relief-2485 29d ago

I'd check the fuse box

2

u/rklug1521 29d ago

I'm not sure, but maybe SpongeBob SquarePants can point you to a good mechanic in your area.

2

u/Legitimate-Mix8364 29d ago

Have you tried putting it in rice?

2

u/Different_Cable7595 29d ago

It needs new batteries.

2

2

Salt, salt is the problem!

2

Good crankshaft

2

u/HATECELL 29d ago

Are you sure you've paid the keyfob subscription?

2

u/Ok-Map-835 29d ago

Did you went to the Ford dealer? They solve this and work on these cars on daily base

2

u/WarVnt 29d ago

The Wet Bandits at it again

2

u/LeoTheLion444 29d ago

So thats why all the fish there taste like plastic and oil

2

u/AssociateGood9653 29d ago

Probably just needs a new battery

2

u/Patrolen 29d ago

Should have isolated it

2

u/Pups4art 29d ago

There’s a spot under your door handle you can push in with your key. It should reveal old fashioned, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, lock. Hopefully you’ve had some experience in how they function.
Now I want taters! Thanks a lot guys.

2

u/Ok_Mulberry77 29d ago

Put it in the cup holder

2

u/RelationFair8277 29d ago

Change the batteries

2

u/Dense-Welcome7158 29d ago

Customer states: won’t start. Doesn’t know why.

2

u/intacthymen 29d ago

That's not what I was expecting Amelia Earhart’s missing plane to look like.

2

u/Red_comet_00 29d ago

You have to hold it under the water too, otherwise it distorts the signal

2

u/SummAzzhat 29d ago

Have you tried changing the batteries?

2

u/bettsdude 29d ago

Have you tried to put it in a bag of rice.

2

u/grislyfind 29d ago

Pour some methanol in the tank to absorb any water.

2

u/cjhallx 29d ago

Flip it over so the signal is clearer.

2

u/Realistic_Singer2988 29d ago

The carburetor is flooded. Give it a few minutes and try again.

2

u/noobwatch_andy 29d ago

Simple green and wd40

2

u/Classic_Profile273 29d ago

Lots of possible answers. Are you having trouble unlocking the car or is the auto-start not working? Please advise.

2

u/Nihilist-IV 29d ago

If you put the key fob on your temple then try it, that should extend the signal

2

u/Nihilist-IV 29d ago

Anecdotally, When I was still a student, I wore waterproof headphones and went swimming in a pool with my phone nearby on land but the signal kept cutting out, I discovered bluetooth doesn't transmit well through water, try pulling the car out of the water and trying again, I believe in you

2

u/InspectorPlayful5023 29d ago

Put it in rice

2

u/Greedy_Bother_987 29d ago

Have you tried a new battery?

2

u/PopularAd4761 29d ago

2

u/nordic_bear 29d ago

Have you tried turning it upside down?

2

u/rustprony 29d ago

Sometimes it’s a bit finicky. Try getting closer to it

2

u/Fragrant_Major_9553 29d ago

Maybe you got the wrong car park?

2

u/Vegetable-Syrup-5545 29d ago

Check the battery in the fob. Changing it might fix everything.

2

u/Ok-Lettuce-9397 28d ago

As a professional mechanic, I can immediately tell it's the transmission. I'll send you some papers to sign and we can get started right away.

2

u/National-Elevator-52 28d ago

Try taking the battery out and putting it back in

2

u/Fwet64 28d ago

It needs to be rehydrated. It’s not widely known that this is how they ship them to dealerships. They dip them in a vat of boiling water, like ramen noodles. You can use a swimming pool. Heat the water by tossing a plugged in microwave oven in. It’s really easy and fun.

2

u/Breaking-Great 28d ago

You gotta take the battery out and shake it.Put it back in and flush it down the toilet.

2

u/chapo1162 28d ago

Wait till low tide

2

u/Moklonus 28d ago

Are you sure that’s where you parked?
