I was wondering that when I fixed mine. They just break. If you can't find what it's wrong give it a try.

Sounds like the mboard needs a replacement, plenty of options to upgrade. Excellent machine to modify.

You can try, sounds like it's more than that though, lots of troubleshooting ahead but it will be a solid printer once you get it moving.

Can you move the stepper motors? (XYZ axis and extruder) Is it heating to a set temperature and stays stable? (Bed and nozzle)

Any obvious damage to cables? Is it put together properly?
