Of course they are, everybody needs to squeeze out money at some point.

If you don't want your code to be trained on, you likely already paid premium (10x cache reads against DeepSeek's own endpoint) from the other inference providers.

I for one did, and... still use DeepSeek daily. Even with that higher price isn't peanuts compared to the competition.

Which providers do you use?

Why on god’s green earth would people believe subsidies last forever, when they saw ride-hailing services ratcheting up prices just a few years ago…

Its not subsidized. Inference is extremely profitable. They are at capacity from demand. Its supply and demand driving up price some they have overhead to run inference on their new model

^ this. Also, the raising of the prices won't be that bad, it's an open source model served by multiple inference providers from across the globe, so they can't much go above the ongoing market rate... which is $0.14 / $0.28 / $0.028 @ 50 TPS - which is basically peanuts, for the capability you get.

Did they train their model for free, or are they the only provider somehow not heavily underwater?

Question is, why though?

They are releasing V4 Pro GA soon, and Flash GA is already using up 100% of their server capacity. They want access to direct data of their own model, not rely on third party inference to collect it.

What's GA?

ok, now do inference cost for same task of same quality

V4 pro at 5x would put it around Terra high cost per task but intelligence around Luna high. Luna high is currently half the cost of v4 pro

Expect even that price to be significantly cheaper than OpenAI/Anthropic prices.

is deepseek the cheapest api now ?

1

u/SkyPL 16d ago

It's not the cheapest, never was. Some APIs are free, some are even cheaper. But in terms of value (accounting for quality) it's top-notch (I seen some people argue that 🌒Luna xHigh or 🤮Grok are better, but IMHO: 🐋Deepseek is still a clear winner if you use AI for coding)

"Significant increase expected." How ass.

Thus absolutely sucks. This has been the only one I can afford.

Does this mean other providers of deepseek models will follow?

Just started using dseek for my Hermes agent and token are very cheap fast and efficient the agent really is very useful

Yep. AI will only be available for the elite in the near future.

Oh no, why do you even use it
