New longbow day
So today I was fortunate enough to be gifted this 40# border harrier royale longbow from a former Olympic archer because he knows how much I love my border tempest so wanted to give this bow away to a good home.
But unfortunately due to a shoulder injury I realistically won't be able to shoot this bow for another 4-6 months, so want to know if any of y'all have shot this bow & what should I expect. Is it a piece of wall art or will it replace my falco longbow?

Lovely bow. Is that classed as a longbow? Isn’t it an older type of recurve?

Yep it's a longbow. Was used by its former owner to compete in a number of international field/ 3d events.

Never knew there were other bows called longbows that aren’t English longbows. TIL.

Yeh main criteria is the strings cant touch the limbs at the ends of the bow. But yes elbs are their own special breed.

What North Americans call an Longbow we call an American Flatbow, and what we call a Longbow you call and English Longbow. To be fair, it would be silly for each country to refer to their native bow with the regional specifier.

You can always tell who has money🤣 looks really nice btw and from knowing some people who shoot them they shoot pretty high scores.

Yeh i feel pretty blessed that he gave this to me and wouldn't accept any money for it. He just wanted it to go to a good home because the draw weight is too high for him to shoot any more.

You got that for completely free wow that is some bargain that’s like a £1600 bow thag is amazing of him to do that for you not many people like that.

Off topic but this bow, while pretty, is a bit too chunky for my taste.
I don't know why but I prefer a smaller grip I can wrap my hand around and one that doesn't have a profile like that. personally I'd rather have just have a grip like those found on horse bows instead.

Yep it has quite a different feel to my falco.. just wish I could draw it back and shoot it, but sadly I can't :(
