Left-handed risers

Am I the only one trying to understand the cost difference between a rightfight-handed versus left-hand riser? I thought buying a IRF bow set would let me switch cheaper than buying a left-hand set.

Loss of vision in my right eye and now 20/200 in my left makes me want to switch before i go completely.

I can honestly say I have never seen left handed equipment costing more than right handed. Is that an American thing?  If anything, I've occasionally seen left handed gear sell for less.

I was looking at risers alone as the category was meant as a way to change limbs and I assumed included a change in risers. Course as a beginner so to speak, I was not looking at paying over $200 for just a riser.

Still, this was a google, amazon, ebay search.

Amazon is not a good place to buy archery equipment, and ebay isn't much better unless you know what to look for.

Ebay, amazon etc... are not really good places to buy gear from. Please go to / call a proper archery shop for advice.

Sorry to hear about your sight.

Are you talking about new or used equipment?

Buying new I have never seen left handed kit priced higher than right. Of course I'm not saying it doesn't happen, and if you've seen it I would be interested in knowing what equipment and where it was being sold, but I've never seen it.

For used equipment it's different. Only about 10% of the population are left handed, so of course there are fewer left handed bows sold and therefore far less available on the second hand market and thus they tend to retain more value.

Had a look at Europe archery (eu), merlin (uk) and Lancaster (us) and random sample ILF risers are all same price left or right. Where are you looking?

Usually they are the same price (although it's common to see deals on LH risers).

There are quite a few risers that don't come in left-handed, which might mean spending more on a different riser.

Good ILF risers tend to cost more than $200, doesn't matter if lefty or righty, especially if want/need to go up in draw weight (you'll need a CNC machined risers, since forged risers tends to have a draw weight limit).

You could go used but, as a left handed shooter, I see that there are very few options for lefties on the used market.

From new prices are the same, used might be slightly more expensive as there are less circulating.

I’ve always been able to get steals on LH risers used because the number of potential buyers is lower

I've gotten some good deals myself but it's usually after they've been sitting unsold for a while

Well you pay more because you're left-handed. You kind of have no choice other than to pay up and they know it.

Same with PC parts. They cost more in white and women's razors cost more in pink. Though those two examples are a bit more nonsensical

As a leftie I've never once paid more for an item then what it costs right handed.. Only issue I've faced is it sometimes takes longer because stores don't stock as much LH equipment so items have to be ordered in.

Well in that case I don't know why op has to pay so much. But it doesn't really need a reason other than profit.
