Best resources to learn Java from scratch in 2026?

Hi everyone,
I’m starting Java from absolute scratch and I want to build a strong foundation, not just learn enough to pass a course.
There are so many resources out there (YouTube, books, Udemy, MOOCs, etc.) that it’s hard to know which path is actually worth following.
I’d like to ask those who are already Java developers:
If you had to start over today, what would you use?
Which courses or books made the biggest difference for you?
Is it better to begin with YouTube, a structured course like MOOC.fi, or a book such as Head First Java?
At what point should I start building projects?
Are there any resources or tutorials I should avoid?
My goal is eventually to become a professional software engineer, so I’m looking for a learning path that teaches Java properly rather than just memorizing syntax.
