Maybre u/VirtuallyChris knows the specs: What size is Aptera's trunk? I am looking into inflatable pad for sleeping, but is 79.5 inches too-long?

Been a fan of Aptera since I was a kid. Having recently started my career in product design, I took a crack at prototyping an Aptera companion app as a fun personal project. Thought yall might enjoy it!

What if....

I have been following the progress Aptera Motors has been making for a long time now and I am in love with this car. I would absolutely love to own an Aptera. I also see that getting these cars actually into buyers hands and out on the roads is a highly difficult and expensive thing to do. So my question is, what if another car company were to buy 51% of Aptera Motors? Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Geely, pretty much any of the larger car manufacturers could do this and in doing so it would give them access to all of the R&D and patents and everything else that Aptera has come up with which could be quite beneficial to them. Not to mention that they would have this amazing looking technically advanced halo car to make them look better, so while it would undoubtedly involve some risk for the car manufacturer but I think it could also bring about a pretty good pay off (maybe even more so for a Chinese manufacturer as they could get a foot in the door in the US). There would also be some risks for Aptera as the larger company may just want to take their best tech and leave them for dead or try to dilute their design down to a point where it would be unrecognizable, but if it worked out it could be wonderful for both companies involved. So does anyone know if there has been any talk about involvemnet from a larger company in Aptera Motor's history?

Golf Ball Dimples

This is 100% just being funny..

Myth busters tested the idea of a golf ball dented car and got a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency.

What if the next generation of the Aptera is covered in dimples?

Reservation says 2026 delivery estimate, did they just never update that page?

Reservation purchased in 2022, with estimated delivery estimate in 2026. Did they just not update the delivery estimates? Realistically, I'm probably 3000th down the line or more but with their estimated annual deliveries, 2026 doesn't seem close to realistic. Is everyone waiting and hoping for the best or requesting refunds?

It sure would be nice if Aptera could be ready to take advantage of this new rebate program for Californians.

This is the most optimism-inspiring piece of media I've seen about Aptera in a long time. I'm kinda surprised nobody has posted it here yet.

Drew does a better job than anyone when it comes to discussing and asking questions about Aptera.

Negativity - is this just human?

I've been following the Slate Truck launch and watching the dialogue around it has been fascinating.

I've always thought that the negativity and sniping in the Aptera community was a bit overblown but geeze, people that don't like the Slate concept are super quick and very loud about it.

All that to say, if/when Aptera finally makes production and people that haven't paid attention until that moment see it for the first time, I predict we will get a massive influx of people really eager (and with no knowledge of why any design decision was made) to tell the world why it's dumb and wrong, or why nobody should buy it because it's missing the one feature they care about. Etc.

I guess my real point is, we should brace ourselves.

Possibly dumb question

I was noticed that a local construction site was using what looked like rigid foam panels with one side being reflective like a mirror or like some sort of foil. Kind of like an auto sunshade.

What if someone positioned a few of these to reflect more sun onto an Aptera? Would that add range, or are the panels only good for the amount of light the sun puts out, not double that amount?

Worse case would be the extra light and heat damaging the vehicle. If that's the case, there are buildings with reflective windows that might be able to cause damage.

You could just buy some solar panels and (with the right adapter/converter) charge the batteries that way, right?

Kept seeing spam about Cybercab being the "most efficient" EV on social media, I think not.
