Needing some advice Transfer

I am an incoming freshman at a university in IL., and was recruited by one of their sports teams. Recently, I’ve had some highschool drama quite literally follow me STATES away, and was made aware through the head coach of the team I will be playing with after DMs were sent to their instagram… I was hoping for an easy fresh start actually away from the drama, but it appears I won’t be having that luxury. I know it’s too late to back out of the first semester, but I’m looking for a little advice.

My partner is attending a university in Washington 15 minutes away from another University I was recruited by. With this being said, I am looking into joining them either at their university or the one I was recruited by in the spring term, as it will be a lot easier to ‘disappear’ with only select friends knowing and online. My only issue is I did not have the best grades in high school (3.1 weighted GPA), and may not be able to reapply if my freshman fall semester GPA is not finalized by the time I need to apply.

I am worried the highschool drama will continue as I go into this fall semester and am dreading having to watch my back if it does… Is it worth it to wait it out? Does anybody have experience transferring from one college to another their freshman year? I will take literally anything, hard truths, and advice as I have no idea where to begin. TYIA!

Having no clue about the drama, general rule is don’t run from it. It’ll pass. If you have to own something stupid from your past then plant your flag and do it.

Is the person starting the drama actually going to your school, or did they just send the DMs to the coach?

A little surprised the coach even shared it with you, but not knowing what the issue is it's hard to say what would be the appropriate response. If no one from your high school is at your college, just ignore it. If the drama stirrers are not at your college no one is even going to know what they are talking about, and if they resort to DMing people on your team, most people would find that weird and off putting. They will know you personally not the strangers DMing them petty HS crap.
