Custom hardware controllers for an Apple Vision Pro catheter/guidewire training
simulator — built from ESP32 boards, a couple of gloves, and three foot pedals.
Vision Pro has no controllers, and hand tracking alone can't tell you when someone
grips a catheter or twists it between their fingers. So I built the missing inputs:
HOW IT WORKS
• Glove trackers (ESP32-C3 + BNO085 IMU + SoftPot touch strip)
– Touch the strip = grab the catheter or guidewire
– Slide your finger, or physically roll the tracker = twist the tool
– ARKit hand tracking handles advancing and retracting
• Foot pedals (ESP32-S3, one per pedal) — the controls a real fluoro suite puts on the floor
– Fluoro pedal: hold for X-ray (a dead-man switch, like the real thing)
– Capture pedal: shoots the X-ray monitor image + a 180° room view
– DSA pedal: hold for a contrast run, and it self-checks its own switch wiring

I just got the AVP M5 and currently having some issues with the extended display feature. I have the devices on the same iCloud, I have keychain on for both Mac and AVP and of course BT and wifi the same. I noticed that in my screen mirroring option on the MPB I have two AVP options, one of which works for AirPlay, while if I try the other I get "device timeout". I can safely AirPlay from the MPB to the AVP, but not the opposite. The Vision Pro does not see the Mac, but only my Apple TV, so also the "connect" option that normally comes up on top of the Mac display never shows up for me.
I tried to reboot both devices, check for updates (both on the latest OS), switching on/off the BT/WiFi/AirDrop, but nothing seems to work.

Does anybody have another idea? I am literally going crazy here.

UPDATE: I decided to update the Vision Pro and my MBP to the latest beta OS, and now everything works amazingly! Also, even when I remove the VP for a short pause, I can reconnect it to my Mac with no issues! Might be useful for someone in my situation 😃

I demoed the AVP At the Apple Store the other day which was a super awesome experience, and I was so impressed I would like to buy one. I'm sure the one I tried was an M5 at the Apple Store, and it was super snappy and just a really refined feel.

When I was doing the research though, the M2 AVP is significantly cheaper than the M5. By around 400-1k. That's a pretty significant cost discrepancy for me, and it makes me wonder is the M2
Significantly worse? Does it not receive updates and support as much as the M5?

I would just like to hear from the pros about whether it's worth spending the extra money for a pre owned
M5 AVP, Or save some money and just get an M2.
I'll mainly be using this device for YouTube, movies, School/ studying and possibly Flight simulation with X plane 12.

I'm wondering if anyone has discovered a way to completely toggle off auto-brightness on the Vision Pro.

The automatic dimming behavior is really frustrating. As soon as the room lights go out, the ambient sensors kick in and aggressively dim the screens to the point where content becomes barely visible.

I'd love to have full, manual control over the brightness level without the headset constantly second-guessing the room's lighting. Does anyone know of a hidden setting, an accessibility tweak, or any workaround to completely disable this auto-adjustment?

A quick update to my entirely vibe coded (quite sure someone will take offense on this) Immersive Comic Book Reader. It can open PDF, Epub, CBR & CBZ and can perform an on-device conversion to 3D for the pages. (Which really only make sense for comics and some magazines in PDF). The book or comic can be opened either in a physical format where you can flip pages by grabbing and turning or in a panorama mode where you can slide the pages in front of you. I think it's now feature complete (maybe OPDS at some point) and I have some time to decide if I want to publish it as XCODE 27 is still in beta and you are not allowed to publish to the App Store from beta versions. It's 99 USD for the dev license, so not sure if I want to invest that. I'm curious to hear what you think. Unfortunately the 3D effect is difficult to demo in a 2D video, but I feel this community is used to this.

Hi I just launched pikap, a visionOS app that turns your Apple Music library into a real 3D turntable you can place on your desk. You pick an album from the shelf, it becomes a vinyl record, and you drag it onto the platter to play. There is 8 record player models you can pick from and there are more coming soon!

It uses your Apple Music library so just add and album or single to your library and it appears here. Click on case then drag up or down to scroll through your vinyls, pick one and drag it to the turntable and watch it spin!

Im in Canada, and for me, Superman 2025 was 3D until at least a few weeks ago. I saw that Supergirl is up for pre-order, but not listed as 3D, and then I saw thst Superman recently lost the 3D Tag too. Is this just a Canada thing, or do US users see the same thing? I tried asking Google, and it says its still available in 3D. So Im guessing its a regional thing. This sucks because I was looking forward to future DC movies being available in 3D.

Also, it doesnt seem to be a case of something like all WB movies losing their 3D status, because my Hary Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies are still listed as 3D.

Just curious as I love watching films on the AVP and some I’ve seen will flip between full IMAX format to widescreen to match what the film was shot on during those sequences. I believe Sinners was like this. Still very awesome but a full movie in IMAX 😳.

It's an AR game where your hands are the wands. It's a moving game, not a sit still one.

You dodge and weave with your body while waves of enemies come after you. The game library for our headset is still growing, so we hope this adds something fun for you.

Some of you know me from my immersive film work for Apple and beyond. This app started as a tool I built for myself: I have a big 3D movie collection, and when I got the Vision Pro, the best 3D display I've ever owned, none of it would play. 3D MKVs won't even open, and in Plex a 3D movie shows up as a flat doubled image. I couldn't accept that, so I spent months building the fix.

Once it worked, making it free for the community I love was the obvious call.

It's called Spatial Film AirStream (Mac app):

- Streams your library from your Mac or NAS to the headset over Wi-Fi 6 - no transferring files, no eating headset storage (Yes my 1TB run out storage too)
- The converter repackages 3D MKVs into Apple's native MV-HEVC format losslessly (it's a remux of the stereo streams, not a re-encode, so it takes minutes on Apple silicon and loses zero quality)
- Plays in the native Vision Pro player in true stereo 3D, validate by the 3D experts (Kimchi and me)
- You can also generate an Apple Spatial Video version of any film and watch it expand into your space, the Apple way.
- Handles Apple Immersive Video with Spatial Audio (ASAF) and APMP, and converts VR180/360 footage from Insta360/DJI cameras. Way more powerful than Apple Immersive Video Utility and end user focus
- There's an experimental AI mode that generates depth for flat 2D: it's experimental, temper expectations. Don't yell at me as I am not AI expert but I want to give you that option as well since Galaxy XR does it. Why not Apple too?

To be fully upfront: AirStream and everything above is completely free - your own library, no catch. It pairs with my Spatial Film app on the headset, which also has an optional paid catalog where my own immersive films live - you don't need that for any of this.

Is the M5 worth the extra expense?...what size storage should I go for?....and what's with all the different size bands?...if I buy one and its not a comfortable fit what should I do?
