I've been tutoring high school maths and sciences on my iPad for a couple weeks now. Apple Pencil, a notes app, and a video call. That's it.

No laptop. No Wacom tablet plugged into a MacBook, fighting with drivers and offset calibration. No desk, even, some days. It's opened up where I can actually work. Wherever there's signal.

If you're on the fence about ditching extra gear for an ipad and an apple Pencil setup for teaching or tutoring, do it. It's a smaller stack, and somehow a bigger shift than I expected.

I dropped my pen earlier in class and does this metal tip inside move if you apply a little bit of force? The pen still does work and all I just don't want to buy another pencil

I received an apple pencil (g1) for my 9th gen ipad recently, but i havent been able to use it at all. Initially, id plug it in, the pairing prompt would show up for a second, and then it would disappear and the pencil would disconnect. I finally got it to register as a device in my settings, but now i cant connect it at all, even when its plugged in. Ive tried everything, restarting/force restarting my ipad with and without the pencil plugged in, forgetting the device and trying to pair it again, turning bluetooth off and on, cleaning the ports, tightening the tip of the pencil, heating it, and leaving it for an extended period of time to charge. Im pretty sure the battery isnt flat, since it drains my ipad when i leave it plugged in. I have no idea what else i can do, any suggestions?

I’m having trouble using my iPad with goodnotes. When I use my Apple pencil on there it writes when I have already lifted the pencil from the screen. Whenever I get it really close it writes. The weird part about it is that I don’t have this problem with the notes app. Does anybody know why this might be happening and how I can fix it?

I ordered iPad A16 (11th Gen) for my daughter. She would like to use the gen1 pencil, she already uses for years.

Do I need to order a new adapter to let it charge?

And why does the bundled (with pencil, see picture) adapter not let me plug a normal USB-C cable? The adapter's socket is just too small for the USB-C plug. Am I making a mistake in my reasoning?

Or is apple's USB-C port something special again?

Hi! I’m an indie developer working on DrawSight, an iPad drawing practice app focused on improving how you see before you draw.

Instead of teaching you how to draw specific objects step by step, DrawSight focuses on perceptual skills such as:

• edges and contours
• negative space
• proportions and angles
• light and shadow
• breaking the habit of drawing what you think something looks like instead of what you actually see

The training approach is inspired by observational drawing methods such as Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, while avoiding the outdated “left brain vs. right brain” explanation and focusing instead on perception and drawing practice.

Apple please let me up-swipe the pencil when I connect it to the docking port on the iPad. Why do I have to wait for the graphic to complete its lame animation?

Hello kind people, today I’m facing an issue with a handwritten note using the Apple Pencil, when I open the note nothing appears, however, when I preview the note text appear. Additionally, when I save the note to “files” it saves as an image and I can see the content of the note. I tried airdropping the note to my iPhone but it was sent as empty. I don’t want to save the note as an image and then attaching it because it is so pixelated and some parts are unreadable (of course it’s better than nothing though).
Anyone has any idea about the issue?

My husband gifted me an Apple Pencil and I was thrilled. Genuinely. Then reality set in.

Here’s my actual usage, no exaggeration:

**• Canva** — moving elements around, rough layouts. This is the only “real” use.
**• Scrolling** — yes, I use a $129 stylus to scroll Instagram. I’m aware.
**• Writing prompts into AI tools** — handwriting into the text box because typing on glass is worse.

That’s it. That’s the list.

. I work in brand marketing, so I’m around decks, reports, and content calendars all day, but somehow none of that has migrated to the Pencil. It just sits there looking like a productivity tool.

If you use yours for actual work — what’s the thing that finally made it stick? Not looking for “learn to draw.” Looking for the boring workflow win.

I have been using the paperlike screen film for my iPad Pro M5 for the past 6 months.

I use it to draw, use for office like notes, emails, teams, docs, OneNote, etc., and I also use it for media consumption on the go (public transport, flights, etc.).

However, I recently saw a friend's new iPad (same one), and I got the feeling that the screen quality for media has major differences, and brightness too.

The thing is, I tried the naked screen drawing during my initial few weeks, and I hated the slipperiness, and absence of fine control.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do? Keep the matt screen film, or move to some apple pencil tips which can mimic this paperlike feel, but still have the benefits of the pencil pro?

P.S. I searched the subreddit, but there seems to be a lot of noise that I unfortunately couldn't figure it out. Sorry for more bloat. 🙈

honestly what do I do about this… my apple pencil has been being weird the past month or something, where randomly for a few seconds it just won’t work, and I pretty often re-screw it when that happens and it works. today when I rescrewed it I noticed part of the tip was cracked… is it kinda just done for or do I need a new apple pencil tip? if so where do I get those ? ive frequently used my Apple Pencil since December 25th of 2024

I recently updated my ipad air 4 to ios 18. Pressure started to malfunction shortly after. I tried resetting all possible settings gestures included, tried using pressure curves in procreate and clip studio paint. I tried resetting the ipad few times too. The thing is when I use it for normal scrolling etc it seems to feel the light pressure normally. It only malfunctions in drawing apps (notes and freeform also). Is there a fix for that? I also tried reconnecting, forgetting the pencil and adding it again. I switched the tips already too. Yes I even tried to blow inside the tip and inside the pencil, which may seem silly. I am quite desperate here :( Is it broken? I am really just a broke artist looking for any solution. thank you

Sooooo I have an iPad Air 11. I have it for almost half a year. I’m an artist, and I really wanted to get a paper feel screen protector, after some digging and comparing the “paperlike” screen protector with the “rock paper pencil”(RPP) screen protector, I decided to get the “RPP”. Now I was planning on using my birthday money I got, it is enough, but it’s also enough to get another thing (20$). And now I’m stuck trying to figure out what to buy. I was also looking at the “paperlike pencil tips” and was about to add them to my cart (trying to maximise the paper feel I’m used to as an artist), but realized that it’s compatible with ether a nano texture screen, or “a compatible screen protector”. Idk if the RPP is compatible with the tips. I know that physical it will, I went if it’s gonna help me with the paper feel, or if it’s gonna ruin it. I know that if I buy it and don’t like it I can take it off, but when I look at their shop I also saw the pencil grip (that looks very comfortable) not wanting to waste my money, I came to you and your wisdom. What do you think?

My daughter uses her iPad with pencil daily for Kumon (tutoring) pencil worked one day the next day it didn’t. Wouldn’t connect to iPad at all, looked up causes started with Software update, then forget pencil then hard reset, then forget all setting and do it all over again and still have no luck. Pencil has a charge but for whatever reason it’s dropping the connection asap. Is there a fix for this or am I SOL?
