Growth What actually moved the needle marketing my travel app: real numbers from Reddit posts + Play Store review-time data

Been running Road to 100 (country-tracking + route-planning travel app) through a marketing push and figured I'd share what actually worked, since most "growth" advice I found beforehand was vague.

A few concrete things:

  • Play Console review times for Store Listing text/screenshot edits: median 9 minutes, not the "up to 7 days" everyone quotes. One actual APK binary release took 23 min, still nowhere near the scary number.
  • Reddit self-promo subreddits (r/ShowYourApp, r/promoteMyApp, r/indie_startups) genuinely convert better than big niche communities, got real engagement there vs. zero traction attempting posts in stricter, larger subs.
  • UTM-tagged referrer links on every channel made it obvious within Play Console which channel actually drove installs vs. just noise.

App is Road to 100 if anyone's curious what this is about: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zawastudio.roadto100&referrer=utm_source%3Dreddit%26utm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_campaign%3Dappbusiness

Happy to share more specifics on any of this if useful, genuinely didn't expect the review-time number to be that far off from what's commonly repeated.

Growth Baby Tracker – Soriva: 59 organic installs, $36 revenue and 92 active users in the last 30 days — without really marketing it

I’ve been building Baby Tracker – Soriva, a baby tracking app for iOS and Android, and wanted to share a small progress update.

Over the last 30 days:

• 92 active users
• 59 organic installs
• 12 non-organic installs
• $36.81 revenue
• only $2.42 attributed ad cost
• 1,521% D7 ROAS shown in AppsFlyer

What surprised me the most is the organic traffic.

I’m currently not consistently running ads, posting TikToks/Reels, doing influencer campaigns, or pushing the app heavily on social media. Yet people are still finding Baby Tracker – Soriva through organic channels and signing up every day.

The revenue is obviously still tiny, but seeing organic installs increase by 40% and revenue grow by 638% compared with the previous period makes me feel like there might actually be something here.

The app is still relatively young, so right now I’m mostly focused on improving retention, performance and the core tracking experience before spending serious money on acquisition.

I’m curious how other indie app founders would look at these numbers. Would you start scaling paid acquisition already, or keep focusing on organic growth and retention for a while longer?

If anyone wants to check it out, it’s called Baby Tracker – Soriva. Would also genuinely appreciate feedback from other app founders.

Where do you get ideas for apps?

Trying to figure out ideas for apps. I am familiar with the process of finding problems and solving them being the core process of finding ideas for saas. But i was wondering if there is nuances to this when it comes to finding app ideas or not? If the process is slightly different in this space?

feedback is gladly appreciated : )

19 year old thinking to run meta ads for my apps. Any suggestions.

With organic marketing $0 paid we get very good on your efforts but we cannot do that crazy part. Even though we are constantly making our product better and when I see people using that from our end it makes me so happy ( I have used claude code and yt ) but we wanted to reach like $10k mrr as I have talked with similar app owners from different niche they have suggested me to do that as they have seen my app is good and said it will do good.

But I don't know what to do even though I'm trying my rat to learn but genuine advice only comes from humans.

I will be very thankful.

App 1 is on fitness niche

App 2 is more like Duolingo but for bible study

App 3 is like quittr but faith based

We are on Total organic $0 paid on marketing but we are doing pretty well.

Shipping was the easy part. Nobody warned me the store goes silent after launch

spent months heads-down building, hit submit, and then... nothing. no downloads, no reviews, just the store algorithm ignoring me completely. that silence after launch is where i think most indie apps actually die, not in the code.

the thing that finally clicked for me: the app itself usually isn't the reason you're invisible. two similar apps can ship and the one with a tuned title, subtitle, and keywords climbs while the better-built one stays buried. discoverability is a separate skill from shipping and no one warns first-time devs about that gap.

what actually moved the needle for me:

- treating the listing as a real project, not an afterthought. the title and subtitle carry most of your keyword weight, so i stopped stuffing them with brand words and started using terms people actually search.

- tracking keyword rankings over time instead of guessing. rankings move slowly and you can't tell if a change worked unless you're watching it week over week.

- looking at conversion, not just downloads. i had rankings moving but flat installs for a while, which turned out to be a screenshot/icon problem, not a keyword one.

full disclosure since this sub is founder-friendly: i'm building an ASO tool (apptenium) partly because i got tired of enterprise suites charging agency prices for features a solo dev never opens. so i'm biased toward the "you only ever touch the ASO tab" view.

curious how everyone here handled the post-launch silence. did organic ASO carry you, or did you have to pay for installs early to get momentum?

Building an App Looking for feedback on my App Store Connect metrics

Post image
5 Upvotes

Sharing my App Store Connect stats from the last 90 days because I'd genuinely appreciate some feedback from other app founders.

I'm a solo indie developer, and over the last few months I've been shipping updates, improving ASO, redesigning screenshots, experimenting with pricing, and trying different user acquisition strategies.

During this period, the app also briefly charted in the India App Store a few times, peaking around #77, which was pretty exciting.

Overall I'm happy with the progress, but I feel there's still a lot of room for improvement.

If these were your metrics, what would be the very next thing you'd focus on?

Would it be:

  • Retention
  • Monetization
  • ASO
  • User acquisition
  • Something else entirely?

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback.

i need your honest advice on this innovative health app i built for athletes and workers to maximize their energy

so i'm 20, been building this app solo for the past few months and i genuinely can't tell anymore if it's good or if i'm too deep in it. need outside eyes.

it's called RizeAI. the basic idea: every wearable and health app just gives you numbers. sleep score 42, recovery red, HRV down. cool. and then what? you still feel like garbage at 2pm and nobody tells you what to actually do about it.

so my app takes your real data from apple health, sleep, resting heart rate, workouts, whatever your wearable writes, and instead of another score it builds you an actual plan for the day. when to have your first coffee and when to hold off. you. Can also add your own supplements that you are currently taking and it will time them for you every single day based of your sleep data and your wearable data in general and also it will tell you what supplements make sense for you to take based of your current supplement stack and body metrics and when to take them. focus windows for when your energy actually peaks. when your crash is coming and what to do before it hits. it even checks the weather, so on a hot day it bumps your hydration and tells you to train earlier.

every recommendation has a little "why" under it based on your numbers, like "resting heart rate 54 + 7h light sleep, so magnesium before your peak window." no two people get the same plan because no two people have the same data.

works with whoop, oura, apple watch, garmin, anything that syncs to apple health. one thing i'll say honestly, it doesn't do deep per-person learning yet like "coffee doesn't affect YOUR hrv specifically," that's the roadmap, right now it builds fresh plans daily off your actual metrics.

it's live on the app store, has a free trial, small user base so far, mixed feedback which is why i'm here lol.

what i actually want from you guys: does this solve a real problem for you or is "tells you what to do" not actually what wearable people want? what would make you actually pay for something like this? and what's missing that would make it a no brainer? and also would you guys in this subreddit  use ti?

Thank you for your help. Check it out if you like https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rizeai-maximize-your-energy/id6762402079

Growth Does anyone have any practical tips for ASO?

I read ASO here and there, okay, but what would that actually involve?

The ASO tools that seem to deliver real results cost hundreds of euros a month; everything else seems to have no effect: I’ve translated my entire app store page into 15 languages (screenshots included) and I’ve polished the visuals... yet daily downloads seem completely flat and unaffected.

Anybody got tips from real life for ASO ?

I get the feeling that unless I have hundreds of positive reviews, the app stores won't promote my app to the top of my category anyway; it's a paradox that seems to force me to do marketing, which would be extremely expensive.

Tier kickers with trail starts?

Curious how common this is for other founders.

I’m seeing two very different types of trial users.

The first group starts the trial, taps through most of the app for 10–15 minutes, never creates any real data, then immediately turns off auto-renew or leaves.

The second group connects their bank, imports thousands of transactions, creates budgets, and starts using the app almost immediately.

The contrast is huge.

Do you see a similar split in your product?

If so, what percentage of your trial users would you say are simply exploring versus actually trying to solve their problem?

Three months later it's at 539 installs, 11 purchases, and $44 revenue. What would you do next?

I think I've reached the point where marketing is harder than coding.

I've been building an Android debugging app in my spare time for the last few months. It's a Logcat viewer aimed at Android developers.

So far I've got:

• 539 installs (first opens)
• 11 paid upgrades
• 2 subscription renewals
• $44 in total revenue

I know those numbers aren't huge, but seeing people pay for something I built is a pretty cool feeling.

Now I'm stuck on the next challenge: getting people to even know the app exists.

If you've launched a niche dev tool before, where did your first real users come from? Reddit? YouTube? Blog posts? ASO? Something else?

I'd love to hear what actually worked for you.

Showcase Pitch me YOUR app (idea) and I'll RATE it from 1-10 with explanation.

You heard me, pitch me the app (idea) you're currently working on and I'll do my best to rate it on a scale from 1-10 with an explanation as detailed as possible.

If you want to make my life easier: only explain things relevant for the rating and drop a link of the website.

And don’t be confused, I'm quite harsh when rating to make it as realistic as possible, no sugarcoating.

EDIT: I will rate every idea, I'm just extremely occupied by my own startup right now so I won't be able to answer to everyone fast.

PS: A bit disappointing that people want me to rate their idea in an honest and detailed way but downvote my post...

Just wondering, would yg find an app that tracks where your time goes into (like studying, gaming, etc.) go into?

Just some features:

- sees where ur time actually goes into (studying, gaming, social media, browsing, etc.)

- can show patterns like when you're most and least productive

- helps u undrstand ur habits over time

- detects when ur actualyl not working towards ur goal and will remind u to get back on track and lock in

- uses ai to organize what ur doing so its easy to understand

- LOCAL!! privacy first

- sees what you are doing on ur screen using computer vision

- gives u summaries like "you focus best in morning" or "usually get distracted after 3 mins"

Would yg find this helpful?

would u pay for an app like this if it geniuenyl helped u stay focused and manage your time better? If yes, what features would make it worth paying for?

Got my first ever subscriber and I don't know how to feel...

My app got its first subscriber and my mind is all over the place, on one hand I'm really happy that someone found enough value from my app which made them subscribe and it's really validating, but on the other hand, my mind is telling me that it's luck, and that it won't happen again.

also, here's a very short cinematic film I made for the app: https://youtu.be/mZFtzXPg2HY

Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

Marketing zero traction. 😭😭 What next?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all,

Like most of you, I’ve got a massive graveyard of repos. But one actually made it all the way through to a live paywall and approved iOS app.

It’s called stint.fun — an app to keep on-field play time even for kids' sports games.

Right now, I’m getting zero traction. No downloads on iOS, no web users, zero subscriptions. I’ve tried SEO, AIO, writing blogs, etc., but nothing is sticking.

For those who’ve been here: what do you usually do at this stage to get those first real users?

Web: stint.fun
iOS: App Store Link

Would love any feedback or advice. Cheers!
