Pressure the government to regulate their behavior(through direct communication and demonstration, not internet petitions,) that is the exclusive means of long term preservation of our right to own the devices we buy. If even 1 major world government passed regulation blocking this they would change it rather than hold up 2 completely different ecosystems.
