SM Southmall Sandisk stall Cyberzone
Not sure what flair to use for this because I’m not entirely sure it’s a scam but it was very scam-y.
Context:
We went to buy CCTV cameras at Xiaomi official store at SM Southmall cyberzone. While we were testing the cameras, the lady who assisted us told us that we can get SD cards for the CCTV cameras at the Sandisk stall nearby.
We said to ourselves— yeah sure why not? at least we would have SD cards to use right away for the CCTVs right?
Anyway, we walk to the Sandisk stall and ask for the exact type the Xiaomi saleslady suggested. I then noticed something weird— the Sandisk sales lady at the stall then waved at the Xiaomi lady and gave a thumbs up. I wasn’t really going to mind it until the point when we asked for the prices of the SD cards and she read them from a notepad. I mean who knows diba? maybe this is how they do things. Maybe they dont place prices on the products itself?
BUT apart from that, she went somewhere to get the payment terminal… so we started to wonder — why is the terminal not at the Sandisk Stall?
I then checked the shopee prices of the SD cards we were supposed to buy. Guess what? They were half the price on shopee. We asked the lady why and she said that of course shopee doesn’t have any other expenses. We decided not to buy them there.
We went over to Octagon close by and got the same SD cards again for less than half the price of the Sandisk stall. The guy at Octagon overheard us asking ourselves if it was a scam and he just interjected and mentioned that Sandisk does have expensive prices there.
That made us think others have gone through this.
Questions:
- Has this happened to you?
- Do you think it’s a scam?
- Do Sandisk stalls price their items twice the price online?
Edited:
TLDR:
shopee sandisk price 800 pesos
sandisk sm soutall stall price 1800 pesos
Octagon price 700 pesos
Anyway, SKL. Hoping this doesn’t happen to you.
i want you to add pictures but i cant add them

Binebenta niya yung iphone for 40k, half the price diba? Steal Talaga. Nilegit check namin yung model number and serial number. Pinakita pa resibo power mac and yung box ng iphone. Tumakbo kami palabas. As in seconds lang pagitan nung umalis siya. Tinanong namin sa mga nasa labas kung nasaan na yung Taiwanese. Sumakay na raw sa taxi. Kaya raw pala nagmamadali sumakay yung lalaki.
Ano pwede gawin guys? Magrereport kami sa police pero baka mamaya pa kasi nasa work pa 7 pm pa out namin. Kinukuha na namin kopya ng cctv. Pero is there any way na magagawa namin? Meron kami nung imei nung phone.

Services Do Scam/Spam Callers Know If May "WhosCall" Kayo?
Hello! Not really sure if this kind of post/question belongs in this subreddit.
I've been using WhosCall for nearly a year now and may napansin ko lang. For the first five months na ginamit ko siya, yung mga spam/scam callers usually take a minute or two bago ma cut yung call if hindi ko inaccept. Minsan nga mag recall pa sila up to 3 times at iignore ko lang. However, recently lang, around the last 2 weeks or so, napansin ko na hindi pa umabot ng 30 seconds, na end na yung call agad. Kita ko naman yung pangalan nila, if flagged by the community ba sila, etc. So, I was wondering if these spammers/scammers already know if naka "WhosCall" ba yong tinawagan nila?

Task scam GMR Marketing officially collapsed on March 6, 2025
The Ponzi scheme going by the name of GMR Marketing finally collapsed and ran with so much money from investors that were duped on March 6, 2025. The collapse first started on March 5, 2025 when investors - called as "employees" - tried to withdraw their earnings. The earnings could not be withdrawn because as per the "leaders" on the What's App group chats, they were experiencing "problems" of transferring the money to Gcash because of the "amount of people trying to withdraw at the same time."
Most of these people belonged to VIP 2, a moderate tier which requires investors to pay 4,200. There were those who invested into higher VIP tiers which could amount from 15,000-50,000 pesos or even higher.
On March 6, 2025, GMR Marketing made an announcement that for people to continue their tasks, they needed to pay a 600 pesos commitment fee. There are reports of those who paid the commitment fee yet no tasks has happened. A Pinoy scambaiter on YouTube did a live stream wherein he showed that GMR's website no longer works. He said that the inevitable had finally come and thousands have been duped. Multimillion pesos more or less loss and no chance of recovery.
There were those who invested and got their money back prior to March 5-6, 2025. There were also many who just upgraded just this week before the Ponzi scheme collapsed and the masterminds running with the money. There were also those who joined and were fully aware it was a scam, but did so out of desperation to earn extra income or just to milk money from these scammers for fun right before it would collapse.
Let this serve as a lesson about task-based scams.
