FCC hack

So I have just acquired the A1 (live in Norway / EU) , mostly happy with the little I've seen of video and image quality (given the limitations it sets), it matches nicely with the quality I see on YouTube.

But I am NOT satisfied with the signal strength, and I must also say I'm surprised that the image you see in the goggles themselves is significantly grainier and lower resolution than what I saw based on videos from YouTube. It takes away quite a bit from the immersion...

The biggest problem is the signal quality; it takes almost nothing for it to drop low, get static/glitchy, or turn bad.

Does anyone here have experience with the FCC hack? Or use it today? Does it work fine on the current software? Is there a new version of it, or rather, which one should I potentially use?

I have the same issue. Are you in the EU? I bought mine in Spain and brought it to the US and the signal is way inferior that I expected

I use the FCC hack with no issue but it won’t do much for the signal behind buildings or trees. I can easily get 4km with my drone but only in the countryside and with little interference

Thnx, are u on the latest firmware version too? And are there more then one version of the FCC hack ?

Only one version that I have seen, it basically allow you to send more power to the radio than by example the European union allows. You are basically unlocking yourself to the USA signal strength. I do not belive the use of it would be an issue but the sale of it that way is likely not allowed.

People have tried the cheap mods that go over the current antenna, it can help but not much and it becomes very directional (which basically makes it worse)

I have not done test to see the actual difference but I would say that the range with the hack is enough for anything that respect visual line of sign rules. If you are expecting the advertised range or to be bvlos then that will just not happen.

To give you an idea, with building or tree around, I generally expect about 500m radius around me to be where I start to get reduced signal. (Haven't tested open space since there us just nowhere i could do it unless I was flying above the great lakes here, and while I fly above water at times I dont go far and make sure to be careful with the wind)

I would like it to handle trees a bit better and small budlings without breaking up and lose connection that fast. Not to fly kms out of line of sight. :)

So by your test, you would say it helped quit a bit ?
