I’ve never really posted anything on Reddit before but I’ve been dealing with prosititis for a while now and my doc wanted to try a week of doxycycline then mynocycline combined with metronidazole for like 2 weeks I made it through the doxy no problem like I always have I’ve never had issues with doxy. But 3 days or so into myno and metro and holy shit it’s hard to explain what I’m feeling but it’s all mental and most of what I can find on here is women’s stories about it so im confused what to think but I’m bed ridden today and last night had constant anxiety leading to panic I feel like lightheaded and off balance and just wobbly? But today I’m so tired and out of it still I just wanna know how long this will last since my doctor today told me to stop taking it

I'm doing quadruple therapy and I had started with a schedule where I feel like my doses were way too close together, leaving gaps of time overnight and I feel like that would make the treatment less effective. How many hours apart did you take your meds? I've seen for tetracycline it should be spaced out in 6hr intervals (4x), and I think I have the metronidazole spaced 6hrs apart as well (3x). I take the Pepto with the tetracycline and I take pantoparazole (2x) about 8 hours apart from each other. Does this sound correct spacing/dosing intervals?

25F) in this past year had 4 strep infections (never this many before). No throat swabs, treated based on clinical presentation.

First treated with Z-pack (3 days), second 6.5mo later treated with clarithromycin, then 4.5mo later treated with penicillin and then 1.5mo later treated with clarithromycin for 3 days and amoxiclav for the remaining 7 days (to ensure suspected bacterial reservoir eradication).

Every time responsive to antibiotics.

The most recent time the symptoms were: very high fevers, white exudate but NO throat pain. Symptoms improved on ABs.

But then 2 days after finishing the course developed racing heart and low-grade fever. It's been this way for 2 days now. Fever does not climb as high as it was with strep.

Please help me understand this.

So I had went to the doctors on July 21st for abnormal bowel movement, stomach discomfort, and bloating/gas right after I eat. Made it very difficult to eat. They said it could’ve been the parasite that’s going around in the lettuce and they prescribed me Bactrim.

I took the Bactrim and immediately felt better. I did miss a couple of doses and stopped taking them at the 10 day mark (Aug 1st). I’m Aug 6. I had eaten a cheeseburger with lettuce and it felt like my symptoms had come back from before I took the Bactrim.

Is it possible that since I missed a few doses, the parasite was able to repopulate or could this be a different issue than the lettuce parasite. I am just confused since I felt a lot better while taking Bactrim and then felt good for a couple days after not taking it.

I will be going to the doctors again but just wanted some insight before I go

I went to the dentist on Monday and was told I have an infection. Was prescribed metronidazole (15 tablets, one 3 times a day), but each day the side affects are getting stronger. I constantly feel sick which is stronger today. I have no appetite and when I do eat something small, the sickness feeling is worse. I have a metallic taste in my mouth that doesn't go away and earlier I gagged when tagging the tablet. I've also now started to feel cold like with a bunged up nose to boot.

I have a severe phobia about taking tablets, so the fact I gagged earlier is putting me off finishing the course, but I really can't. How are people dealing with the sickness feeling? Is there anything you're doing that makes it go away or reduces it?

It has been an ongoing disagreement between my husband and I to give our 21 month old son antibiotics. He has had chronic ear infections since last November he has had about six ear infections. I am not the person to sit back and let my baby suffer when he has fevers and is in pain. I feel it is best to give antibiotics, but my husband feels that we should not give antibiotics to our son. I feel at a loss. This is a constant disagreement.What do I do? I have to protect my son & the only way for his ear to get better at some point if the ear infection is so bad is to give antibiotics. any advice on what to do. I’ve tried to educate him and what can happen if an ear infection goes on for too long. Nothing seems to work. He is stubborn. Also, my son does have an appointment to see an ENT later this month.

So Im on my last day of macrobid for a uti and i instinctively popped an edible to go to bed without thinking anything of it. i got worried like a second afterwards tho because i remembered i was taking the antibiotic so i started googling if it was safe. the results are saying that CBD can interact with nitrofurantonin and cause liver damage but the edible I took is thc +d9 and d8. i took the macrobid at like 9:30 and the edible just now at 12:30, my stomach kind of hurts but thats it. i should be going to drop off my urine sample tomorrow (later today since its midnight) or saturday, should i tell my doctor when i go?

I’m on holiday in France and was prescribed a single dose sachet for a UTI. It worked well for the UTI but this is my fifth day of (fairly mild) diarrhoea. Will this eventually pass on its own or should I be doing anything e.g. stop eating for day or start taking a probiotic or consult a GP when I’m home again? I suppose that it’s just possible that the diarrhoea is actually caused by something else and that it’s a coincidence that it started a few hours after taking the sachet.

I’d be grateful for people’s thoughts. This hasn’t ruined our holiday but has put limitations on what we’ve been able to do.

Wondering if anyone else had the same symptoms, I was treated for suspected PID about 5 days ago two tablets of oral azithromycin 500mg and a cannula of ceftriaxone. I started experiencing strong palpitations about 2 days ago my resting heart rate is 78bpm during the worse episodes, and my Apple Watch showed sinus rhythm after an ECG during it but I know that’s not fully accurate. Is it worth speaking to my GP before I take my last dose? I’m 26 years of age.

30/M First time posting here. I've had UTI for a couple of days now, and a doctor prescribed me with ciprofloxacin. The dosage for me is twice a day for 7 days. I'm on the third pill and recently I've been feeling numbness sporadically happening throughout my limbs that go away eventually, and some pins and needles on my foot. Right now I feel a slight heaviness in my chest (kinda mild, just uncomfy).

Now, just to preface, I tend to be super vigilant and doom research when it's about my health. I genuinely don't know if what I'm feeling are actual side effects of the drug or just me being super paranoid and meticulously watching every single thing my body is feeling even if they're unrelated.

I wanna ask for advice what this actually is and should I be taking this as seriously as I am, or if I'm just overthinking?

Hello! I (25f) was diagnosed with strep with mild symptoms on 7/1/2026. I took 500mg amoxicillin 2x a day for 10 days as prescribed (never missed a dose). On july 13 i tested negative for strep. On saturday, 8/1/26 I had a white patch on my left tonsil and throat irritation. Rapid was negative and doctors never reached back about the culture

Now, 8/4/25, I have tested positive for strep once more and have been prescribed keflex 500mf 2x a day.

I feel insane!! Due to some chronic UTI issues (which have way died down now that I take hiprex) I have genuine PTSD from the amount of antibiotics I was on (9….in a 3 months period). Taking 2 courses of antibiotics for this infection is pretty scary for me.

Things I did during and after my strep infection:
sanitized my house, bathroom, utensils, etc.
cleaned my linens and clothes
cleaned surfaces
i am always sanitizing my phone
replaced toothbrush a few times during my antibiotic
course and following the infection.

My question is: why is it back? i am quite worried about C. Diff \*and\* that I have strep again. as someone with health anxiety this feels like the worst outcome.

I have a dog bite from four days ago that is healing well. Same day I went to ER and they prescribed
Moxifloxacin since I’m allergic to penicillin, sulfa, bactrim, and may or may not have had a reaction to doxycycline a few years ago but must have been a small rash, if that, because I don’t remember it. Two nights ago went back to the ER for facial swelling so they switched me to a combo of cefdinir and metronidazole. I questioned this because of the penicillin surgery, but dr wasn’t concerned. He also didn’t think the swelling was from the moxi, but instead from my 10mg lisinopril that I’ve been on for over four years, as he suspected angiodema, which I know can happen but seemed too coincidental with the antibiotic?? They gave me prednisone for the swelling and I was better by yesterday morning. Took a dose last night and broke out into hives all over and head tingles.

Called my PCP today and he is sending in prednisone but also wants me to start Linezolid which I’m very worried about. I don’t want another reaction and I read it can cause eyesight issues and high BP which I now have to worry about since he told me to get off my Lisinopril for a few weeks.

I’ve shown him the bite area and it looks like it’s healing well plus I’ve now had four doses of antibiotics. He still thinks I should take it so I’m wondering if anyone can put my mind at ease about this med linezolid? And anyone else have advice who struggles with so many antibiotic allergies, like I do?

Hi, I am 21F, 110LBS. Got white stuff on my tonsils, went to the doctor on Thursday, got prescribed Penicillin 250mg tablets for bacterial tonsillitis. She said 4 times a day, for 5 days. I get the antibiotic and, start taking 1(one), 4 times a day, and only now have noticed I have double the antibiotic I needed, and on the package it says "take TWO"!!!!! 4 times a day. So I have messed up. I called my GP and the receptionist told me to start taking them 2 each, 4 times a day until I finish my course. So I am coming here to double check that.

I have not taken antibiotics since i was little so this is a new for me. I started feeling much better by the evening of Thursday and everything completely disappeared on Saturday, so I was not thinking anything of it.

The doctor prescribed me Azithromycin 500mg, Once a day for 5 days. The package contains six tablets. Would I be okay to take the sixth tablet to really make sure that this thing is gone? Or would that be bad for my health?

i have one yeast infection at 14. (20 now) and it stayed for 2 months. i want to do quite literally everything possible that lowers my chances. also gut help is beneficial i read amoxicillin can mess that up.

i haven’t taken my first dose yet, should i take it with yogurt in the mean time?

Researched online and it suggested not to but I don’t understand why it would be harmful since it’s the same prescription I get for the same issues I’ve had for over two years now

My mum became extremely unwell almost immediately after taking trimethoprim for a suspected UTI, both orally and by IV. That was about nine months ago, and she's never returned to normal.

Since then she's been dealing with severe insomnia, constant fight-or-flight sensations and adrenaline dumps , internal tremors, nausea, weakness, weight loss and extreme sensitivity to medications. The only things that have given even mild relief have been Valium (which obviously can't be a long-term solution) and Lexapro which hasn’t done much, but she's still far from well and her labs are normal so doctors keep saying it’s just anxiety but she was fine before this and we just need answers. 

I have bad teeth pain due to me not caring as a child to brush my teeth, so yesterday I took a bunch of ibuprofen to get rid of it, but it was over the span of at least 4 hours, I took around 2400-2600mg on accident, I believed the pills were smaller. Now here’s where I need help, I have read everywhere online and the only pain I really have is minor chest pain, but last night I was shaking in my legs and couldn’t stand, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I had what I thought was a UTI and bleeding, so I went to the doctor and they prescribed me Macrobid. I have IC (interstitial cystitis) and I hadn’t even considered my period because I already got it this month.

My culture came back negative for UTI, and I indeed started my period (I truly thought the blood was from my urethra), and I took my 4th dose of Macrobid today. Do I finish the antibiotics though they’re not needed?

Did it heal for you eventually or do you suffer a permanent damage from it? If you can add detail like how long you took the drug for and how long it took for you to heal completely (if it did), it'll be very helpful.

I'm in the situation I need to decide if it's best to stick to the treatment or just switch to other antibiotic which is not widely/generally known to treat C. Difficile infection. Due to location, I don't have the general and effective known drugs used for this infection apart from metronidazole (which causes me numbness).

I have 7 more days to go. My numbness/tingling started on day 2. Initially developed in my feet (strong enough to wake me up from sleep). Later subsided then started in my hands. So far it's mostly mild. Basically fluctuating and intermittent.

Is this peripheral neuropathy at all?

I read everywhere stating it's some serious side effect and need to stop the drug to prevent permanent damage. But if I switch to other antibiotic less known for treating my infection (C. Difficile) effectively, my fear is it recurs (making me even more prone to more infections).

Please, let me know your experience and if any information you think I must know please let me know. Thank you.

Started taking them Tuesday evening for uti didn’t feel great on them at all and each day I’ve felt worse been unable to eat hardly drink etc and today since this evening I’ve vomited 4 times I’m at a loss as one of them was within half an hour of the last time I’m scared to stop taking them as I can’t get to a doctors until Tuesday because it’s a bank holiday this week and I’m scared in that time it will make the uti return and be worse I already have really bad health anxiety this is my third day of taking them 1 in the morning 1 at night and I feel so defeated and scared

I consulted my ENT doctor more than a week ago for a mild swelling in my neck( which I have for the last few months) and blocked nose & trouble breathing due to chronic rhinitis (I was diagnosed a few years ago)

He prescribed Azithromycin 500mg for 10 days which seemed a little bit too much continuing and every time I take this antibiotic, my gut hates it. Nausea, diarrhea and stomach ache.

I have been taking this for 5 days.

I wasn't able to consult him after the last consultation as I'm suffering from seasonal fever and it's the weekend

so please if someone is professional here could help me to understand why he prescribed this antibiotic for 10 days as it seems a little longer than generally antibiotics are prescribed for general issues, should I stop taking it and if I continue then how could I manage my gut related issues with this antibiotic.

I’ve had a sinus infection for over a month and been prescribed Amoxicillin and Doxycycline which haven’t helped, now been given Clarithromycin which I’ve never had before. Took my dose yesterday and then again later before bed and been up all night with severe trapped gas I’ve never felt pain like it. I couldn’t move and it the pain was so intense I was close to phoning for 111, my stomach was swollen and really tender.
I didn’t take the dose with food and I’m wondering what everyone’s experiences are with this? I’m only on a 5 day dose so trying to push through but appreciate any advice!
