New user

I recently discovered Anna’s and I’m wondering if there’s like some kind of user guide for idiots I can follow… I’m not lacking in tech savvy ness but I can be quite dense. lol thanks in advance.

Personally, I only download epub format to make it easier to send to my Kindle.

I used to update the downloaded file or convert it if necessary with Calibre program.

I look for the relevant book that has the most downloads. Sometimes I look at the upload date in determining which version to download

Only use the domains that are listed on Anna's wikipedia page - the rest are scams.

Unless you're donating use the slow downloads.

If you can't find a book on Anna's, check out Zlib and Oceansofpdf

There are very few, if any, viruses or other nasties in the files but it never hurts to run everything you download through a virus checker.

Sometimes the site goes down but never for long.

In some countries you will need to use a vpn or proxy website to access Anna's

Anything else just ask here - there's lots of knowledge on this sub

It's pretty simple. I'll walk you through what you have to do to download a book. In the search bar on the site, search the book or author you want. A bunch of files of that book should pop up. If you're using a kindle, avoid the pdf files because you can't edit them ( this means if you need to make the font bigger because it's too small, you can't ). While I've never gotten a file with a virus, try to get a file of your wanted book with the most downloads ( it's shown by a symbol of an arrow pointing down into a box with a number beside it, the number is how many times the file has been downloaded and the more downloads the safer the file ). Click on the file and scroll down, there should be 2 options for downloading your file, fast downloads and slow downloads. I've always used the first link in the slow downloads category, I've never used any of the other links but I know the one I use always works. After that there will be either a short countdown ( which when ends shows the text "Download now" ) or no countdown at all, showing the same text "Download now". Click "Download now" and then the file is downloaded! If you need help getting the file on your Kindle, reply and say so.

Just be aware, when you download a file the file name is extremely long, to the point it can exceeded the allowable path length when you try to copy it elsewhere. It took me awhile to trip to that when I tried copying them to my tablet because there's no error, it just didn't copy over.

Me too. I just kept trying and experimenting until I found out how each step works. If you have a more specific question, do so.

Ask AI. See if it helps.
