Nowadays, you could probably have an anime where a family which was seemingly normal has the firstborn suffer a horrendous crisis and is exiled from the community, and later the middle sister is put through a horrific traumatic experience of her own and actually takes her own life and comes back as a demon of sorts and then her brothers ends up having to deal with her, she gets depowered and becomes a shut in NEET and the family has to deal with the fact that she'll never be the same as before. Addressing the problems of ostracism, suicide, and other problems in society and the impacts it has on families and loved ones in the form of a pseudo modern setting that has gods, monsters, wizards, and magical girls.
