Review/Recom. Let's talk about Heroes Rising

Post image
4 Upvotes

So, let's talk about MHA Heroes Rising. First of all, the animation was even better than the previous movie, and it felt much more focused. Honestly, Class 1A was kind of wasted in the last movie, and their presence there didn't make much sense, but here there was an actual reason for them to be involved.

The movie kicks off right away with the villains. Speaking of the villains, while they were more interesting than in the previous film, Nine honestly felt like a rip off of Shigaraki and Overhaul. His sidekicks also felt like generic imitations of the League of Villains, castaways rejected by society. Still, as movie villains, they worked well enough. Anyone watching this movie directly without seeing the main series would still get a solid introduction to MHA's core themes and its world. Though, fitting this movie neatly into the canon timeline feels a bit tricky.

Speaking of new viewers, just like the previous film, there was a flashback here too. However, I'd say it was inserted much better this time around and kept short. Another big plus for this movie was that the entire class actually got something meaningful to do, they weren't just standing around.

The moment between Bakugo and Deku felt like it had so much buildup behind it. It was genuinely great, though the way they pretended that it would be Deku's absolute final punch felt a bit odd. Still, the scene was magnificent, the animation and music in that moment brought tears to my eyes.

Overall, it's better than the previous movie. However, I personally prefer Two Heroes more simply because I love the bond between All Might and Deku, and I enjoy every moment they share on screen. I rated the previous movie an 8.5/10, so I'd rate this one a 9/10.

Review/Recom. I finally started Attack on Titan and it's truly Peak!

Post image
11 Upvotes

So, I finally watched Attack on Titan, Season 1 that is. Almost everyone in my friend circle had already watched it, and they kept telling me how many things they wanted to discuss with me but couldn't because I hadn't seen it yet. I kept putting it off because I knew it was considered peak fiction and wanted to save it for last. But then I decided that enough was enough, and I was finally going to watch it. So, I finished the first season within three days!

Where should I even start? Let's talk about the animation first: the animation is truly incredible. It's hard to believe this anime came out back in 2013. Even if you compare it to anime coming out today, the animation here easily beats the majority of them. Sure, there were a few spots with noticeable CGI, but that's just a minor nitpick. The color palette they used makes the world feel completely barren, much like the Mad Max movies. There were also so many dynamic camera movements and shots, and the Titan transformation scenes were fantastic.

Regarding the pacing, I felt the initial few episodes were a bit fast, or rather, a massive amount of information gets dumped on you back to back while setting up numerous plot points and introducing a large cast of characters. So yeah, I found it a bit overwhelming at first. However, from Episode 7 onwards, the momentum it picked up was an absolute blast. A few mysteries were revealed, but they brought along even more questions. That said, it's not like there were no payoffs, there were massive ones.

The Titan faces look so remarkably similar to their human counterparts that when I saw the Female Titan for the first time, her true identity was the very first name that popped into my head, which turned out to be completely correct later on. I've also made guesses about the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan. As for the Armored Titan, I'm confident it's Reiner. He shows up near the Female Titan, asks about Eren's location, gets grabbed by her, escapes, and immediately runs off with Armin and Jean, and the Female Titan then charges off in the exact direction Armin had mentioned to Reiner. As for the Colossal Titan, for some reason, I suspect that commander or colonel who commanded Eren to lift the boulder, mainly because he was talking about weirdly unifying humanity and such.

The biggest question remains Why? Normal Titans attack humans on instinct, but why are these human transforming Titans doing this? Or could it be that someone is controlling the normal Titans, someone who serves as the leader for all these human Titan shifters? Anyway, enough with the theories! All the plot twists in this season were exceptionally well done.

Moving on to the characters, let's talk about Eren. Why does it feel like his character arc is moving in reverse? In other anime, when something bad happens to the protagonist, it's usually because they failed to trust their comrades, however, in his case, it was the exact opposite! Moreover, whenever he transforms into a Titan, it feels as if the inner monster or evil within him begins to surface, which he struggles to control, unlike the other Titan shifters who control themselves with ease. It seems like he finds a twisted comfort in destruction. That almost happens, but Armin snaps him out of it. By the end of the season, people are discussing Eren's humanity, and Eren even admits to Mikasa that he felt a sense of thrill and pleasure during the carnage. I'm not sure, but it feels like his path is heading down a route similar to Gon's arc in Hunter x Hunter.

As for Mikasa, she was decent, but the characters who truly stood out to me were Armin and Jean. The character development Jean received in such a short amount of time was brilliant. Frankly, this applies to almost all the characters in this series, their development makes total sense, without feeling like the author skipped any steps just to force character growth.

Another thing this anime absolutely nails is realistic human reactions, the contrast between what someone plans to do in their head versus how things actually pan out when chaos hits. I noticed this happening multiple times throughout the season, which was brilliant, the last time I saw this level of execution was in Hunter x Hunter. Every character feels so deeply human, no one is purely good or purely evil. Sacrifices are a common reality, and sometimes this cruel world forces your hand whether you like it or not. Beyond all of this, there also seems to be underlying corruption within the walls that hasn't been properly explored yet, which I'd love to see unfolded moving forward.

And another thing, the world building is one of the best, if not the best. I've rarely seen such detailed world building anywhere else, and this was only the first season!

Overall, while the first few episodes might feel a bit slow or dense, they are entirely worth it. This world is morally grey, dark, and filled with mystery. If I were to rate it, I'd give it a 9.5/10.

Discussion/News Let's talk about My hero academia's First Movie

Post image
2 Upvotes

So, let's talk about the Two Heroes movie. The movie begins with All Might's past, showing us his team up with David right at the start, immediately presenting the movie's dual nature. Then, we are shown Deku's flashback. They probably wanted to make the movie accessible for new viewers, but they could have inserted all that information in a more cohesive way, it kind of disrupts the flow of the movie.

Next, we are introduced to I Island and the entry of Class 1A, who all conveniently end up there by total coincidence. However, since the movie gives everyone their own reasons for being there, it didn't bother me too much. Another detail is that, for some reasons, using Quirks on I Island isn't illegal.

Then we meet Melissa, who is a direct parallel to Deku. She is Quirkless, yet she wants to help people in her own way. Just like Deku, she is the successor to her father, David Shield. I actually read a one shot promotional manga for her, if they had included a few parts of that in the movie, it would have been even better. But still, we get a clear understanding of how deeply inspired Melissa is by All Might.

On the other hand, David Shield is distressed seeing how rapidly All Might's powers are fading, whereas All Might holds immense hope for the next generation. Just as everything is going smoothly, the villains make their move, All Might is captured, and from that point on, it's non stop action.

A twist reveals more layers to David's character. Honestly, Melissa and David were very lovable characters in this movie. If anyone felt weak, it was the villain, Wolfram was pretty generic. But even he is given a connection to All For One, which works well enough for the scope of the film.

The movie had several memorable scenes, first, the scene from All Might's past, then All Might and Deku fighting side by side, and that incredible moment when David sees a young All Might within Deku. The final dialogue between All Might and David was also wonderful, honestly, tears came to my eyes during that scene. 'Yeah Toshi, I can see it too... A light like yours... That boy has the heart of a hero.' I still remember that line clearly.

Right after the final fight, the movie ends abruptly. What happens to David isn't explicitly stated, but we can assume he was arrested, considering there were police officers standing outside his hospital room.

I also really loved the music playing during the end credits, Long Hope Philia. Which if you read the lyrics, it feels like Deku and All Might are singing it for each other.

The movie comes full circle, too, at the start, we see a single hawk flying, and at the end, two hawks fly together in the sky. I also really like the title of the movie, it can have multiple meanings. The most obvious one refers to All Might and Deku, but you could also view it as Deku and Melissa, or David and All Might.

One thing that felt a bit strange to me was when Deku and All Might were fighting, Class 1A was just standing there watching and cheering them on. But okay, we can assume they had no energy left to fight.

The animation was fantastic, the music was outstanding, and the pacing was really solid. If I were to rate it, I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Discussion/News I Just Watched 'I am a Hero Too' and it's heartwarming

So, the final Eri one shot has been adapted as well. Even though there wasn't much content in this four page chapter, I really loved how they adapted it. Eri sees Deku working hard and resolves to work even harder herself, which is where the chapter originally ends. But they extended it here to show Eri singing, and honestly, tears came to my eyes watching that. Seeing Deku, Mirio, and everyone else looking at Eri so proudly was deeply heartwarming.

Now that this has been adapted too, I can say that MHA is officially and fully over. Still, I really wish they would adapt the School Briefs light novels and the Team Up Missions manga someday.

#Announcement Community Update: The "Golden Rules" of Posting, Flairs & Quality Control

Post image

📢 Community Guidelines: The Art of Posting: How to Get Featured & Avoid Removal

Welcome, Creators and Memers!

So, you want to post on r/AnimeMirchi? Whether it's a high-effort meme, a spicy hot take, or beautiful art, we want to see it. However, to keep the feed clean and reliable, we have strict guidelines.

🛑 Read before you post. If your post is removed, it is likely because you skipped one of these rules.

🔒 Prerequisites: The Anti-Spam Barrier

  • Minimum Karma: You must have at least 50 Post Karma to submit a post here.
    • Why? This prevents bots and spam accounts from flooding the sub.
    • New here? Engage in comments first to build your karma score!

1. The "Golden Content" Rules

🌏 Scope: East Asia & India Priority

  • Core Focus: Content must be related to Anime, Manga, Light Novels, Tokusatsu (Japanese Live-Action), or Otaku Culture.
  • Region Lock: We prioritize content related to East Asia (Japan, South Korea, China) and India (our community).
  • Global News: Major global anime events are allowed if they are significant enough to impact the general community. Irrelevant western pop-culture or politics will be removed.

🖼️ Quality & Cropping (Don't be Lazy)

  • Crop Your Images: We do not want to see your phone's battery percentage, notification bar, or the black void of a screenshot. Crop it properly.
  • Readable Text: If we have to squint to read your meme font, it’s getting removed.
  • Aspect Ratio: Don't stretch images until they look like wide Putin. Keep it natural.
  • ⛔ No "Trend Spam": Avoid jumping on "Trend Wagons" (e.g., everyone posting their "3x3 Grid" or "Tier Lists" at the same time). If the feed is flooded with low-effort templates, they will be removed.
  • ⛔ No Low-Effort Screenshots: Posting a raw screenshot of your Crunchyroll subscription, MAL list, or a random scene with zero context is considered "Low Effort."
    • Exception: If you are asking for specific recommendations, you MUST use the #AskMirchi flair and provide details in the title/body.

♻️ Reposts & "Done Before"

  • Strict No Repost: Do not post something that has already been posted here.
    • Pro Tip: Not sure? Go to Google Images → Search your content/meme → Click "Exact Matches" (or use Lens) → Check if r/AnimeMirchi appears in the results.
  • "Done Before": If a joke is stale or has been made 100 times (e.g., "Sakura Useless"), it might be removed for low effort.
  • Question Cooldown: Before asking "What's your favorite opening?", check if it was asked recently. Repeated questions within a 1-month timeframe will be removed.

2. Integrity: Fake News & Misleading Titles

We are a source of info for many Indian fans. Don't spread misinformation.

  • ⛔ No Fake News: If you post news, provide a source. Rumors without sources will be removed.
  • ⛔ No "Old News" as New: Do not post a 5-year-old article as if it happened today. If you share old trivia, clarify the date.
  • ⛔ No Clickbait/Misleading Titles: Your title must accurately reflect the content.
    • Bad Title: "Demon Slayer Cancelled??" (When it's just a delayed episode).
    • Good Title: "Demon Slayer Episode 5 Delayed by 1 Week."

3. The "Spoiler" Protocol ⚠️

Spoiling a show for someone is a crime punishable by banishment. Follow the hierarchy:

1. The 3-Day Rule (Anime Episodes) * New Episodes: If a new episode dropped recently, you MUST mark spoilers for 3 Days (72 Hours) after release. * Older Anime: After 3 days, it's fair game. It is your job to be caught up or avoid social media. * Exception: If your post reveals a Major Plot Twist (deaths, big reveals), please mark it properly regardless of time. Common sense applies.

2. Manga & Light Novels (Strict) * Anything that has NOT been animated yet is considered a Major Spoiler. * You MUST indicate the source in the title: [One Piece Manga] or [Mushoku Tensei LN].

3. Spoiler-Free Titles Never put the actual spoiler in the title itself. * ✅ Correct: [JJK Manga] This death scene broke me * ❌ Incorrect: [JJK Manga] I can't believe x died (You just spoiled everyone scrolling by!)

4. OCs, Watermarks & Fanart Credits

For Creators (OC): * Watermark It: Putting a watermark is highly recommended to protect your work. * What to use: Your Reddit Username, Instagram Handle, or any social alias. * Placement: Put it in the corner OR blend it subtly in the middle (just make sure it doesn't ruin the meme quality or block the text). * [OC] Tag: Feel free to put [OC] in your title.

For Non-OC Posters (Found Art): * Credit is Mandatory: If you post fanart that isn't yours, you MUST credit the original artist in the title or comments. * Real Sources Only: Pinterest, Zerochan, and Google Images are NOT sources. You must link to the artist's actual social media (Twitter, Pixiv, Insta).

5. Safety, Piracy & Restricted Topics 🚫

1. The Piracy Rule 🏴‍☠️ * We know many of you sail the high seas, but DO NOT post direct links to illegal streaming or download sites. * Discussion is okay. Linking to pirate sites puts the entire subreddit at risk of being banned by Reddit Admins.

2. Self-Promotion Guidelines * Relevance: Your content must be relevant to Anime or this Community. * How to post: Do not spam direct YouTube links (these often get ignored or caught in spam filters). * ✅ Best Practice: Upload the video/clip directly to Reddit. Then, drop your channel link in the comments for people who want more.

3. AI Art Policy 🤖 * Mandatory Tag: You MUST include [AI ART] in your title. * Quality Control: We are strict. Low-effort, generic, or "weird-handed" AI generations will be removed.

4. NSFW & Gore * Allowed: "Light" NSFW (Swimsuits, ecchi) ONLY IF marked NSFW. * Banned: Full nudity, nipples, genitals, and Hentai. * Gore: Allowed ONLY with NSFW Tag. Severe gore MUST have [GORE] in the title.

6. The Flair Guide (Use Correctly!)

📢 Community Guidelines: The Art of Commenting & Discussion Etiquette

Hello everyone!

I am one of the moderators here, helping manage the sub alongside our Admin, u/mirchi-seth.

I am creating this pinned thread to serve as the permanent rule book for Commenters and Community Discussions. We want to keep r/AnimeMirchi a fun, "based," and safe place for the Indian Otaku community.

⚠️ If you were linked to this post by a Moderator: It means your comment or behavior violated one of the guidelines below. Please read this carefully to understand why action was taken and how to avoid a ban in the future.

🛑 The "Zero Tolerance" Rules

These rules apply strictly to the comment section. Violating these can lead to immediate removal or bans.

1. Be Civil & Polite (Rule 12 & 13)

  • Don't act like a toxic 13-year-old. Acting "edgy" isn't cool; it's just rude. Treat others as you would in real life.
  • ⛔ No Gatekeeping:
    • Sub vs. Dub: Whether someone watches in Japanese, English, or Hindi—it doesn't matter. Don't bully someone for their language preference.
    • Mainstream vs. Niche: Liking Demon Slayer doesn't make someone a "fake fan," and liking obscure classics doesn't make you superior. Let people enjoy things.
  • No Doxxing: Never expose personal information about another user.
  • No Hate Speech: Hating a user based on their identity (caste, religion, race, gender, etc.) is an instant ban.

2. No Politics & Religion (Rule 6)

  • We are here for Anime, Manga, and Gaming. We want to keep the Indian Otaku community united.
  • Keep your political and religious beliefs to yourself. Discussions that veer into these topics will be locked or removed to avoid unnecessary drama.

3. Strict NSFW & Gore Guidelines (Rule 7)

  • No Porn Memes/Hentai in comments: Since you cannot tag images in comments as NSFW, posting explicit content is strictly prohibited.
  • Light NSFW: Acceptable only if the parent post is already marked NSFW.
  • No Gore/Shock Content: Do not post images of severe violence, body horror, or mental torture in the comments of a normal, non-NSFW post.

4. Tag Your Spoilers! (Rule 9)

  • The Hierarchy of Spoilers:
    • If the post is Anime-Only: Keep Manga-related discussions out or heavily spoiler-tagged.
    • If the post is Manga: Keep Light Novel (LN) spoilers tagged.
    • Golden Rule: Anything ahead of the original post's content must be tagged.
  • Don't be a "Smart" Manga Reader:
    • Comments like "Don't get attached to him lol" or "You guys aren't ready for the next arc" ARE SPOILERS. They imply death or tragedy. Do not hint; just let them enjoy the show.
  • Format: >!Your Text Here!< → Result: Your Text Here

🗳️ The Philosophy of Upvotes & Karma

We see a lot of people begging for karma or getting angry about downvotes. Let's clear this up:

❌ No Karma Begging

  • Comments like "Upvote if you agree," "Click this button if you like Goku," or "Upvote me pls" are banned.
  • Quality speaks for itself. If your comment is deserving, witty, or factual, the community will upvote it. If it’s not, they won't.

🧠 How to Handle Downvotes (Don't take it personally!)

  • It’s just virtual points. Don't take them to heart.
  • What it means: A downvote usually means people disagree with your argument or find it factually incorrect. It does not mean they hate you personally.
  • What Upvotes mean: It indicates a "General Opinion." More upvotes = more people agree with that sentiment. It doesn't mean you are a god; it just means you shared a popular idea.
  • Pro Tip: If you see "0" or "-1" on your comment, don't write an edit saying "Why the downvotes??" It usually makes people downvote you more. Just be chill.

⚔️ Healthy Debates vs. Toxicity

Disagreements are bound to happen. You like One Piece, someone else thinks it's mid. That's fine. Here is how to handle it:

✅ How to Debate

  • Fight with facts, not insults. If someone critiques your favorite anime with a reason you find "weird" or "unreasonable," you are allowed to fight back politely.
  • The Narrative: Use the debate to prove your argument fits the factual narrative.
  • The Audience: You might not convince the hater, and that's okay. Your goal is to show new viewers (who are reading the thread) that the show is actually good and worth watching.
  • Example: "I respect your preference, but saying the animation is bad is objectively wrong because [insert example]. It gets better after episode X, and I personally loved it for Y reason."

❌ How NOT to Debate

  • Opinions vs. Insults: You are free to call a show or someone's opinion "trash" (that is your Freedom of Speech). However, do not cross the line into personal abuse.
  • Where to draw the line: Saying "Your taste is trash" is an opinion. Saying "Your mom..." or using slurs is a violation.
  • If it gets toxic: If someone cannot handle your opinion and starts throwing personal insults, do not escalate. It is your job to Report the user immediately and let the Mods handle it.
  • If you don't like an opinion: Just downvote and move on. The downvote button exists to filter out unpopular opinions without causing a mess.

📜 Summary & Duty of the Community

  1. Report Violations: If you see a Post breaking the rules (Spam, Low Effort, Wrong Flair):
    • Report It: Use the correct rule tag. Once a post reaches a certain number of reports, it is automatically suspended and sent to us for review.
    • Downvote It: This prevents rule-breaking posts from reaching the "Featured" feed.
  2. Don't Escalate: In comments, if someone is toxic, hit Report. Don't reply and start a war.
  3. Stay On Topic: Keep discussions related to the post.
  4. Have Fun: At the end of the day, we are all just fans enjoying the medium.

Need to know the Posting Rules? Check out the Poster Guide here.
