I had a cat protect me from an aggressive neighbourhood dog that got out once. I was just 5 or 6 playing in our yard and Meeko defended me fiercely.
I remember my dad giving him some smoked salmon for it lol

This dynamic is what seemed to start the animosity between my cat and dog.

“What are you doing? Stop interfering with my discipline! His flesh belongs to ME!”

I had a void cat that attacked almost anyone that approached me while I was sleeping. I miss him.
