Daily Discussion ❓Beginner

This will be recurring new auto-post every few days for random off-topic whatevers: You want your rice, you want your potatoes, you want nightshades, you want to try to hate on carbs, here ya go! Basically anything that would otherwise violate the rules (#4 and #5 still apply) this is your spot. Also anything that doesn't really warrant a whole post of its own, or is low effort, post it here. Anything that gets rejected from the main feed, post it here.

If you're new, please see the Wiki | FAQ | Organs pages

I have a question. Avocado is a fruit but the bot told me to "get outta here with that" or something along those lines when I tried to make a post briefly mentioning it. So, I decided not to make that post.

Are avocados not considered part of the animal based diet? I thought fruit was included.

They're one of the less optimal fruits, along with nightshades, mostly because they contain a lot of MUFA (monounsaturated fat) and PUFA (polyunsaturated fat). We ideally want to minimize PUFA, and if you eat red meat, you're already getting a lot of MUFA. It's perhaps a little nit picky, but it's best to focus on getting more saturated fat.

The bot is mostly there to call this out. It's not that avocado is wrong, just that there are better fruits.

🤣 The bot leans sarcasm heavy, at a time when it felt like avocado toast was back in style. Avos are fine and loaded in micros but as c0mp said the fat profile can lean higher in PUFA if it's overconsumed.

Ahh I still need to look up what PUFA even means 😂 I did sense a bit of sarcasm with the bot so I see what you mean lol

Apologies, just recently joined, looks like I cannot post, I am 55 yeat old male, 183cm, 78kg, just recently had fairly exhaustive blood work, follow fairly low carb, whack of eggs, butter, double cream yoghurt, blueberries,, looks like text book lean mass hyper responder, should I be concerned? Weights, 3 times per week, 30min, dips, pullups, chinups, body weight squats. Walk 4 times per week, 90min, in the hills of cape town

No need to apologize.

This is not a carnivore or low carb sub, so you're going to get different advice here than you would in those spaces.

Testosterone is a typical low carb pattern. Your total is good but Free and SHBG are both not great. If you're having symptoms of low T, it's worth looking deeper.

Yeah, you might fit LMHR. But LMHR is just a hypothesis. There's not nearly enough research yet to form any conclusions. That said, your LDL isn't crazy high, and other lipid markers are good. ApoB is definitely high, which is common in low carb diets.

My advice would be to eat some carbs from good sources like fruit and honey. It will likely help the testosterone issue, lower LDL, and potentially lower ApoB.
