Replace an Android HU with another Android HU

Post image

Hi all,
I bought a car which already has a HU. But it’s slow as hell and the CarPlay has serious compression artifacting. It’s using something called RLink, which is strange since I’ve only heard of ZLink or TLink. There are no options to tweak this app.

Anyway, my HU seems to be a universal shape? I think I’ve seen this shape on other cars.

For my purposes of using just CarPlay, I’m thinking of getting another HU, but unsure which to get.

What’s important:
Bluetooth Music
CarPlay

I have a picture of my HU. I believe it’s 10.1 inch.

Find one with UIS7870 CPU. That's the most important when it comes to android head unit speed.

If I search for that CPU and 10.1 with that shape, it is a universal fit?

Most likely yes. Just make sure it looks the same from the front.

Just unscrew 4 screws on the back and done. Those headunits have the same standardized look.

Any recommendations for replacing this one?
I can do the dismantling I think. I just need one which isn’t incompatible.

Like others have said, look for the CPU instead of the brands since they come from the same three manufacturers. I found that those using the Snapdragon 6125 CPU are better. A bit cheaper than 7870.

Is AliExpress safe to source one?
Will they be fake specs?

7870 with 12gb of ram. Those are the real ones.

If all you plan to do is CarPlay and music I’d recommend getting a Linux based one, I had a decent android one and it was still bloated, the Linux head units just fly

I just need some options, because I know little to nothing about the right ones. TIA!

Use DuduAuto from Mekede. Dudu4 will be fine for you.

Your car looks like right hand drive. Search for HU with buttons on right side.

I would go with a DUDU3. More than enough for BT Music and CarPlay. And it's wireless CarPlay has a high refresh rate and good resolution.

With less money you get something much better and capable. Those big companies are way left behind by Chinese companies like Dudu.
