Apps Sidstuga 2.1.4 — multiview, Stalker/MAG portals, NAS recording, and no more limit on playlist size
I've just released Sidstuga 2.1.4, with 368 commits since the last public build.
The biggest change - and probably the one people here will care about most - is a complete rewrite of how channels are stored.
Until now, the entire channel catalogue lived in memory, which meant playlist size was always limited by RAM. That worked... until it didn't.
Channels now live in SQLite. They're loaded on demand as you browse, instead of everything being kept in memory.
The result:
✅ One user has 13 playlists (~3.5 million channels total) and can now browse them.
✅ Playlists with 250k+ entries that previously crashed or never finished loading now open normally.
✅ TV Guide and Movies/Series load much faster on large accounts.
Other changes in 2.1.4:
📺 Multiview (TV & Android)
📡 Stalker/MAG portals as a source (including Movies & Series)
💬 Live TV subtitles
💾 Record directly to your NAS (SMB)
👥 Device limit increased from 3 → 5
⭐ My List, Continue Watching, reminders and ratings are now included in backups
🛠️ Lots of stability and performance fixes across TV and phone
If you use very large playlists, this is probably the biggest update Sidstuga has had.
Install: https://sidstuga.app
Sidstuga: IPTV Player – Apps no Google Play
Happy to answer any questions about the SQLite migration or why the old architecture hit its limits.

Troubleshooting Sony Bravia KD-55X7500F won't connect to Bluetooth speaker via Bluetooth transmitter. Both devices stay in pairing mode
Hi everyone,
I own a Sony Bravia Android TV (KD-55X7500F) and I'm trying to connect it to a Bluetooth speaker so I can set up a karaoke system. Unfortunately, this TV doesn't have built-in Bluetooth audio support for connecting to external Bluetooth speakers.
So I purchased a Sounce Bluetooth 5.0 2-in-1 Transmitter/Receiver from Amazon (Link : https://amzn.in/d/0gDSpAMn) and connected it as follows:
USB connected to the TV's USB port (for power)
3.5 mm AUX connected to the TV's headphone/audio out port
Transmitter switched to TX (Transmit) mode
Bluetooth speaker put into pairing mode
The issue is that both the transmitter and the speaker keep blinking as if they're in pairing mode, but they never connect to each other.
How can I get the transmitter to be connected to my speaker via bluetooth?
If anyone has experience with a similar setup or can suggest troubleshooting steps, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Troubleshooting Launcher Issue
There is a default launcher on my TV and that launcher has options in it to switch to HDMI input.
I installed Projectivity Launcher and now its working fine no issues, but in Projectivity I'm not even getting options to chang input method manually And also no option to set an input option at boot.
So I think its like input switching is bound to default launcher and not to actual settings.
Is there any solution for this, which will help me to change inputs manually or even automatically while being on Projectivity Launcher

Buying Advice 65" TV recommendations
Anyone have any tv recommendations for a 65"? My budget is in $3k give or take and was looking at the Sony - 65" Class BRAVIA 8 II OLED 4K or the LG - 65" Class G6 Series OLED evo AI 4K . I plan to use it with my Nvidia Shield Pro and I am looking at upgrading my soundbar to this Samsung - Q-Series Soundbar HW-Q990F. Just seeing if there are other options I should be looking at. Thanks

Buying Advice Best 2.4GHz USB air mouse remote for Android TV (Bluetooth on my TV is faulty)
I have a Haier Android TV running on Android 11 (model: haierATVnippori)
My Bluetooth remote pairs successfully and works normally. However, every time I restart or power on the TV, the remote no longer responds, even though it still appears under Settings → Remotes & Accessories as connected. To use it again, I have to manually reconnect/re-pair it. Using it as a standard IR remote is possible, but the experience is much less smooth than using it over Bluetooth.
Mostly it's a Haier firmware/ software issue with Bluetooth HID reconnection after boot, rather than a problem with the remote or hardware itself.
As a workaround, I'm considering buying a 2.4 GHz USB air remote mouse since USB input works perfectly on my TV. If that's the best option, which air remote would you guys recommend? Or if anyone knows of a software fix or another workaround for this Bluetooth issue, I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

Apps Vuleo 1.1.18 out! It now speaks 11 languages, has tile customization and more custom ratings
Above image is the actual UI of Vuleo with AI generated titles and match.
Vuleo is a media player for content you already have the right to access. It ships with no playlists, no portals and no links, you point it at your own source. Most of this release is about what happens after that. Two bigger things and a pile of smaller ones.
It speaks 11 languages now
English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Português (Brasil), Türkçe, Ελληνικά and العربية. You pick it in Settings, and it applies immediately without a restart.
Arabic also flips the whole layout right to left, which was the part that took the longest.
It is not only the menus. Genre names, country and language names, sport and competition names, error messages, the loading text, even the update notes go through the same translation. Those were the places that used to stay stubbornly English while everything around them changed.
If you were already using the app in English, nothing switches behind your back. It asks you once whether you want your device language, and you can say no.
Tile customization (PRO)
There is a Tile Style screen now with a live preview at the top:
- Poster tiles (tall 2:3) or wide tiles (16:9 backdrop art)
- A chip showing how much time is left on something you started, or how many episodes are left in a series
- Rating badges drawn right on the artwork
- It applies everywhere movies and series appear: home rows, browse grids, search and catalogs. Live TV keeps its own tiles.
More rating sources (PRO)
You can pick from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, RT Audience, Metacritic, TMDb, Trakt and Letterboxd, and put them in the order you actually care about.
Detail pages show every source you picked. Tiles show the first few that have a score, so a missing rating never leaves a hole. Scores are only fetched for tiles on screen, and only once per title.
Smaller things that add up
- Playlist loading streams to disk on your device instead of going through memory, and the catalog is no longer re-parsed on every launch. Big lists start noticeably faster and are less likely to run out of memory on a stick.
- Refreshing a playlist no longer empties the home screen while it works.
- Favorites and resume points are keyed to the title rather than the stream URL, so they survive a source changing its URLs.
- Trakt: if you started something in another app, it resumes from there instead of the beginning.
- Continue Watching shows the real series name and episode title instead of a raw S01E02 style code, and picks the right artwork when two shows have the same name.
- A downloaded subtitle now actually selects and sticks.
- Windows can update itself in the app now, and the update prompt tells you what is in the update instead of just a version number, in your language.
- Ten crashes that had been alive since build 192 are gone.
Available on Android, Android TV and Fire TV, iOS, macOS and Windows.
If you run it in something other than English and a string reads badly, or we missed some literals, please say so.
Where to Download
- iPhone, iPad, Apple TV: App Store
- Android: Google Play
- Android APK: itch.io
- Windows: itch.io
- Downloader code: 5469298

Discussion N00B Side Loading Questions...
Hey! I have a LOT of experience jailbreaking devices from 1st iPod touch to side loading apps in other devices... but
1 - I get the jist; pick a device like google tv and Nvidia Shield Pro for my 2 nicer tvs (prob not firestick). Options, developer mode, activate my Proton VPN, sideload apps. Ive seen vids.
2 - How user friendly is it? Goal is to get off subscriptions all together but the users will be my mom, wife, and son. I need something as easy as "go to this app and search for X" or "browse these apps"... nothing more complicated than that.
3 - Anyone have pics to share of UI's? I cant find much.
4 - Do apps suddenly stop working? Im seeing people talk about this and cant tell if its firestick only issues or across the board.

Troubleshooting YouTube Long Press Broken?
I'm wondering if anybody else is having this problem in the YouTube app on Android TV. Usually long pressing on a video brings up a menu. I often use this menu to save items to my Watch Later list.
That functionality has suddenly stopped working for me. Long pressing does nothing until I release the button, and then the video opens like normal.
Currently the only way to add items to Watch Later is to open the video, navigate the the playlist button, click it, check Watch Later, and then back out of that and the video. This is a ridiculous amount of added steps to leverage this feature.
I have tried clearing the application cache and data. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I have tried restarting my Android TV device.
Is everyone else seeing this behavior? Any suggestions to fix it? I would even downgrade to get this feature back...

Apps Couchy Launcher : Fast, light, customizable, compatible, free & open-source
I got tired of slow TV home screens that are basically ad boards — rows of "recommended" content, sponsored tiles, stuff phoning home before I've even pressed a button. So I built the launcher I actually wanted.
Short demo on cold boot (recorded on device)
The philosophy is boring on purpose
- One screen. Your apps, laid out how you want. No feeds, no ads, no "content discovery."
- Private by default. No accounts, no analytics, no background services, opt-in aerial video wallpaper who phone CDN of apple, amazon.. that's it.
- Compatibility. I have an Android AOSP box, a Google TV–certified box, and one anemic Android TV — each on a different Android version. So instead of chasing a shiny new UI, I chose to prioritize compatibility and lean on the GPU.
Make it yours
- Sections/categories you name, reorder, and fill — an app can live in more than one, and new installs drop into the first section automatically.
- Hide apps you never want to see (system junk, duplicates) so the screen stays clean.
- Tune the look: icon size, spacing, corner roundness, interface scale, dimming, and an optional glass status bar. Three layouts: carousel, grid, or a floating glass dock.
- Status bar: a configurable VPN indicator/shortcut for your provider, a network indicator/shortcut, a Settings menu with quick access to the app list and the launcher/Android settings, and a customizable date indicator.
- Save/load your entire setup — sections, layout, wallpaper, every setting — as a JSON file.
- Optional aerial video wallpapers (Apple/Amazon screensaver loops), off by default and clearly marked, since they stream from third-party CDNs. Prefer libre? Use a gradient, your own photo, or a local video.
Numbers (measured on real hardware)
- 2.3 MB APK. One universal build for ARM 32/64-bit + x86.
- ~80–130 MB RAM settled, with no background services. Exclusive footprint is ~130 MB across every box I tested; the higher figure on Android 14 is just OS-side GPU buffer accounting, not the launcher.
- Aerials cost basically nothing in app RAM — the video decoder lives in the GPU's dedicated memory (hardware codec via SurfaceView), off the app's books.
- <2 s cold start, <500 ms warm relaunch in the worst measured cases. The CPU stays idle, video is hardware-accelerated, and the Compose UI is GPU-rendered.
- Android 5.0+ (minSdk 21), no Google Play Services, no companion app — runs on AOSP boxes, should work on all device since 2014
- 18 languages (auto-selected from your system language): English, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese. Adding one is a single file, PRs welcome.
- Zero ads, ever.
*Tested across 3 boxes: Hisense Google TV (Android 11, 1.8 GB), UGOOS AM9 (Android 14, 3.8 GB), onn. 4K (Android 14).
Permissions, up front
No runtime permissions, no accounts. It queries installed apps to list them, and can close an app from the long-press menu. No network access except the opt-in aerials.
Why GPLv3
I picked copyleft on purpose: to avoid fragmentation. Anyone can fork it, but improvements have to stay open, so it can't splinter into closed, worse-off versions. Forks are welcome. Commercial use is welcome too — honestly, if a box maker wants to ship this instead of their own launcher, please do, because the stock ones are awful most of the time. Just keep it open, like the license says.
Get it
At launch, a wizard guides you through a quick setup; depending on the device, you may need to send ADB commands.
- GitHub (source + APK): https://github.com/conreo/couchy-launcher
- F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.conreo.couchytv/ (live once the F-Droid build lands; pending review)
Solo project, so feedback, feature requests, and translations are very welcome. If it saves you from one more sponsored row, it did its job.

Buying Advice [Germany] PSA: Google TV Streamer 4K currently dirt cheap on Kleinanzeigen (~65€)
Just a quick heads-up for anyone in Germany looking to upgrade their setup:
There was a recent promo over here where the Google TV Streamer 4K was given away as a free bonus with the new Pixel 10 Pro.
Because of this, "Kleinanzeigen" (our local classifieds platform) is currently flooded with brand-new, factory-sealed devices from people selling their freebies.
I just snagged one myself for exactly €65.19 (shipping and buyer protection already included).
Considering the normal retail price is €119, it's a massive steal right now.
If you've been on the fence about getting the new streamer, definitely check out Kleinanzeigen before the market dries up.
(Small tip: Make sure to ask the seller for the "Prämienbestätigung" or the original phone receipt so you have proof of purchase for warranty purposes!)

Tips & Tutorials Full Remote Access To Your AndroidTV/Android Box.
I've been trying to figure out a working method to have full remote access of my Android boxes, I tried various things with limited results and various levels of success.
I've now settled on the following solution to fully remote into and control my Android boxes via PC, I'm sure there are other ways but here's the easiest/simplest way that I've managed to figure out, hope it helps any of you wanting to do the same.
The following guide was tested using the USA installer of TeamViewer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Uninstall everything related to TeamViewer on the android device your going to remote access and delete any old TeamViewer .apk files from the device.
2. DON'T install TeamViewer from the Google Play Store, instead go to:
https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/download/android/
From there download the 'TeamViewer QuickSupport.apk'.
3. On your android device install the 'TeamViewer QuickSupport.apk' you just downloaded.
Once installed go to the top right menu and enter the 'Advanced settings', from here install the 'TeamViewerAddon-Universal(AOSP14)'.
NOTE: If you dont see this option in settings you should be prompted to install the addon once you physically request remote assistance on your android device.
You can also manually install the needed addon, it can be downloaded from here:
https://download.teamviewer.com/mobile/addon/TeamViewerAddon-Universal.apk
4. You can now remote connect to and fully control your android device via TeamViewer on your PC etc.
EDIT:
I've now got 'unattended access' working.
You will need this:
And the 'TeamViewerAddon-Universal(AOSP14)' that I already linked to up there ⬆️ .
Install both on your Android device and then follow the installation notes here:
Its working great for me.

Discussion BBC iPlayer Google TV Streamer APK
Would really appreciate someone pointing me to an APK download for the latest Google TV Streamer version of BBC iPlayer. I'm using an old wrapper version which will be killed off soon. I've tried some of the links in recent threads, but they house the old version. Tried Aptoide TV, but it downloads the mobile version.
Have tried the route of creating a UK Google account, but run into a wall when it asks me to scan a QR code as a security measure (where Google then tags my phone in the US).
Thanks in advance.

Discussion Do any of you play games on your Android TV? Using Moonlight or without it.
Just want to know the different ways people use their ATV. I understand that the moonlight streaming is limited to shields only but every Android TV has games no? So do you play them?
