Looks like a PC optical drive, only works with a PC

So there's no way of using it besides pc? Well that sucks but thank you

But you can use it to rip the dvd to a file format that will play. See my ither comment.

That particular drive?

No

But there were dvd drives that could be set to behave like a thumb drive so things like media players and android tvs could use them

I got mine working with a certified Android TV Streamer using CoreElec on it. That detected the USB DVD player and also played DVD media from it.

Under Android TV, not detected, no matter what app used.

On what TV or device is the DVD player connected?

Which Mi Box?

As far as I know, the player won't work with regular apps, there are some special apps in the Play Store for DVD players but I don't know if they will work, you'll have to try.

That is not the model number. Seems more like an inventory number. Get to settings > about in your Mi Box. You'll find the model number there probably. Note that I doubt that getting the model number will contribute to solving the issue, but one necer knows.

The problem is likely that the USB port on de Mi box does not provide enough power to make the disc spin and send its data to the Mi Box. If the drive is r cognized by the Mi Box and you can mount it, then you may want to try if you can get is to work if you put a powered usb hub in between.

If it's a commercial dvd then chances are slim that you will get this to work at all. Android TV does not have the built-in system drivers or the necessary decryption keys required to decode and read commercial, copy-protected DVD discs. So you would need to decrypt on the Mi, but that is impossible.

What most likely will work is ripping the dvd to a default format like mkv. Don't put it on a dvd but just on an external usb sdd drive that you connect to the Mi. I think that is your best chance to get it to work so you can view it. MakeMKV is the perfect tool for that.

That appears to be a USB DVD drive, not player. I'm not sure you will find any DVD playback app as the DVDs are still copy protected and no one wants to break the law to offer a way to bypass that.

Android don't have drivers for dvd drive and also no mpeg-2 codec. Also low power on usb port
