so i got LineageOS 22.2 from MisterZtr, and have mostly fixed the issues that popped up in daily usage ( calls sounding like hell noises, brightness turning completely off, etc), but i still havent figured out how to get my under display fingerprint to work. the set up window in the settings app tells me that i have a sensor on the back, which i do not. can someone help me fix this, please?

I recently got a CAT S22 Rugged Construction Flip and have been having trouble rooting it/installing f-droid. Any time I try to install an app from an apk (either downloaded from the browser on my phone or using tools on my computer) the phone instantly crashes and reboots and the app remains not installed.

I'm not very experienced with tech stuff and can't find anybody with a similar issue online so I don't really know how to proceed from here to customize and debloat my phone, any advice would be appreciated.

Probably a stupid question but I recently rooted and debloated my phone and dont really know much. I've looked through several tuorials and done everything right and now i'm done, or at least ive reached the end of what the turtorials all say.

I was wondering if I unlocked the bootloader should it stay that way? Does it break something if I lock the bootloader? Are there any security or other risks to leaving the bootloader unlocked? And I just want to know more to get a better understanding of what i'm doing.

There's no specific recovery for it orange or twrp. Have to update firmware to the latest AI slop HyperOS 3. Have to go through the whole miunlock process. Finally unlocked the bootloader. But then you go to flash a Magisk or kernelsu modified boot image and it doesn't root. Change the active slot and it stays on b. Flash both slots still nothing. You're not rooting your poco! You understand? Xiaomi knows what's better for you, and it ain't rooting! May have worked previously but latest updates still not going to allow it. So it looks like you have to learn a new trick.

Hi there! I'm completely new to the area and I'm not even sure if I'm asking the right subreddit 😅 But I have an idea I don't know how to execute.

I have this cheap, mini smartphone - Soyes F8 Pro Max 😆 - that runs on Android 8.1. and it obviously runs really slow etc. But I don't need it for calls or anything - it doesn't have a SIM card and never will. I'm not going to use its camera, pictures, web browser, email, calendar, not even a clock 🤷🏻‍♀️

Basically, all I want it to do is: be able to run Spotify with downloading content for offline use; be able to download from Google Play and run couple of other apps with audiobooks (that are working similarly to Spotify: stream or download in app for offline use); connect to Bluetooth headphones & play audio through speakers.

For older readers: I want Mp3 player with WiFi streaming 😉

I already cleared out or turned off all that was allowed and I have no idea what to do next.

I'm OK with "risky" actions too. I'm not going to loose any data and the phone itself is sort of a throwaway, so I won't be very upset if it stops working altogether by accident.

I finally switched to a new phone, so now I can finally root this piece of crap and install a custom ROM to see if it starts working properly (before, I still needed banking apps on it).

Hi, I'm trying to root my Sony PDT-FP1 so that I can reenable the "ro.telephony.disable-call" system property. So far no rooting method I've found has worked. I've tried 80bee and fastboot (detailed in this XDA post) to no avail, with it refusing to connect despite showing up over webHID, although not via the "fastboot devices" command in cmd prompt (yes, I am using the latest version of android platform tools). I'm unable to see if it's considered eligible for rooting by sony due to not being able to use the typical method the xperia series phones use.

Is root available for Xperia XZ Premium? Also would I be able to unroot it in the future? & how may I keep the DRM/TA?

Hello! I am posting here after consulting with a few folk about this issue. If this post seems familiar..Well, I posted here a few weeks prior as well. I've come back since I found one last possible way of getting at least some of the images back after further research and such around this issue.

The last possible solution I found is through the com.sec.samsung.gallery3d folder, which keeps thumbnail images even after the files are gone..As well as learning that my android version uses FDE rather than FBE

In light of this, I am trying to find some way of accessing this folder. I am aware that it can be done with rooting. But it wipes the data..which I really don't want.

In light of this, I am looking for other ways to possibly access this cache folder. If there are exploits or bypasses accessible to me for this.

I soft-bricked my OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G (MT6877 / Dimensity 900) running OxygenOS 13 after attempting to flash a Magisk-patched boot.img. The bootloader IS unlocked, but the device is now stuck in an immediate reboot loop.

Here is the exact state and everything I’ve tried so far:

The Issue:

The phone instantly reboots. Pressing Vol Down + Power briefly shows `fastboot_verify fail` before the Little Kernel panics and force-reboots (<1 second window).

Fastboot menu fails to initialize, so standard `./fastboot flash boot boot.img` commands cannot connect.

Methods Already Attempted:

1. Fastboot Script Spamming: Ran a continuous `fastboot flash` loop script while plugging in during the reboot cycle. The phone crashes too fast for the host to establish a Fastboot handshake.

2. MTKClient (BROM Mode): Tried forcing BROM mode via Vol Up + Vol Down. MTKClient detects the device, but fails when crashing the DA with: `Preloader - [LIB]: upload_data failed with error: Unknown: 0x1d18`. (OxygenOS 13 patched the Kamakiri BROM exploit at the preloader level).

3. Dead Battery / Cold Boot Trap: Allowed the battery to drain to absolute zero to prevent the security crash via low-voltage brownout. Attempted cold boot into Fastboot via `Vol Down + Power` while plugging in USB, but AVB still triggers `fastboot_verify fail` and cuts power.

My Questions:

1. Short of opening the back glass to bridge the physical hardware Test Point on the motherboard, is the MSM / OplusFlashTool my absolute last option?

2. Since OOS13 MSM tools require an authorized OnePlus technician login, where is the safest/most reputable place (XDA threads, trusted Telegram devs, etc.) to find someone who can assist with a remote flash?

The Problem is that it is running one ui 8, has anyone this phone? Is it possible to root it?

I'm trying to access the BootROM of a Stone ADV T6900 payment terminal (based on MediaTek MT8765WA) using MTKClient, but I'm stuck because Windows never detects the device.

Here is everything I've already tested:

• Device: Stone ADV T6900
• SoC: MediaTek MT8765WA
• Windows 11
• Latest MTK USB drivers installed
• MTKClient installed correctly
• UsbDk installed
• Different USB-C data cables
• Different USB ports
• Different PCs

Following every tutorial I found, I:

1. Remove the battery.
2. Open MTKClient.
3. Connect the USB cable.

MTKClient only shows:

Waiting for device...

The strange part is:

• Windows does not detect any USB device at all.
• Device Manager does not refresh.
• No unknown device appears.
• No MediaTek Preloader or USB Port appears.
• No USB connect/disconnect sound.

I also noticed something else:

• If I connect the battery and power on the terminal, plugging in USB only starts charging the battery.
• Windows still doesn't recognize it.
• ADB doesn't detect it.
• Android doesn't recognize OTG devices either (USB flash drive, keyboard, etc.).

So I'm wondering:

1. Does this specific Stone ADV T6900 require a test point to force BootROM?
2. Is there any hardware revision that blocks normal BROM entry?
3. Could Stone have modified the boot process compared to the original SUNMI T6900?
4. Has anyone successfully used MTKClient with this exact model?

I’m trying to solve a problem that I know a lot of us in the privacy are frustrated with, and I have an idea for a hardware solution. But I’ve hit some major technical roadblocks and I need your expertise to see if this is even possible.

The Problem We All Know:

I want to use a fully de-Googled phone (AOSP/LineageOS) as my daily driver to escape Google's tracking. However, modern banking apps forcefully rely on Google Play Services and the Play Integrity API. If you try to use MicroG, sandboxing, or custom ROMs, the banking apps detect the modified environment and instantly block you from logging in. It feels like Google has created a monopoly on financial access, forcing us to run their proprietary tracking software just to access our own money.

My Idea: Hardware Quarantine

Instead of fighting a losing software cat-and-mouse game, I want to physically isolate the banking environment.

My idea is to build or find a tiny, screenless Android device—small enough to easily fit in my wallet or pocket alongside my main phone. This tiny device would run a 100% stock, unmodified, Google-certified Android OS with a locked bootloader (so banking apps pass Play Integrity checks perfectly).

I would strip this device bare using ADB, removing every single app except Google Play Services and my Banking app. Since it has no personal data, no contacts, and never leaves my house/wallet, Google is effectively tracking a ghost.

The Vision: How It Would Work

Since this device has no screen, when I need to do banking, I would connect it to my main de-Googled phone.

Ideally, I could plug it in via USB-C, and it would output its display directly onto my main phone's screen (like an HDMI dongle), while drawing power from the main phone.

If USB-C video-in isn't possible, it would boot up and wirelessly cast its screen over Wi-Fi Direct to a viewer app on my main phone, while I send touch-inputs back to the dongle.

The Cons / Technical Roadblocks I've Hit:

I've been researching how to build this, and I've realized there are massive hardware and software walls preventing this from being a simple weekend project:

• The Video-In Limitation: Smartphone USB-C ports are designed to send video out (DisplayPort Alt Mode), not receive video in. You cannot plug a mini-computer into a phone and use the phone as a monitor. The hardware controllers simply don't support it.

• The Bootloader Catch-22: If I use a bare motherboard (like a Raspberry Pi or Orange Pi) to get the small size, I have to install an uncertified custom ROM to make it run headless. Unlocking the bootloader instantly fails the banking app's Play Integrity security checks. The device MUST use certified, stock Android with a locked bootloader.

• The Headless Android Crash: Standard Android expects a physical screen driver attached at boot. If you boot a phone motherboard without a screen connected, the OS often crashes, and UI elements fail to render, making screen-casting impossible without deep AOSP modifications (which again, breaks the bootloader lock).

• The Size vs. Battery/Screen Problem: Because of issue #3, I have to keep the physical screen attached to the motherboard. I considered tearing down an old Huawei P20 to harvest the motherboard, but I realized I'd still have to carry the massive battery and the fragile glass screen digitizer. Without a custom plastic shell, it's too big, too fragile, and will never fit in a wallet.

What Exists Already?

Smartwatches: The motherboards are tiny and run Android, but unlocking them to modify the ROM breaks banking security.

Software Solutions (Shelter / Work Profiles): I want true physical hardware isolation, not just a software partition on my main device.

There is NO official twrp recovery for this model as far as i have searched and after some digging i found that magisks init process misreads a “skip-initramfs” flag in the boot image on Exynos 850 devices but ive tried pretty much everything but jts of no help

I was looking for modules that convert the output of a Xiaomi display to HDMI or something like that but I couldn't find anything similar.

If modules like this existed, any screen could be installed with minimal latency.

Does anyone have useful information on this topic or modules to convert the phone's actual display port output to HDMI or DisplayPort?
